I don't think anyone really thought through when making this alliance it is therefore truly chandu ka palna. slowly and steadily as this becomes a reality both harit and avantika will have to make tough choices which will effect the families as well.

Vaidyas: Chandu finally comes "home"

Guptas: the unspoken stigma associated with their accomplished daughter raising a child in Delhi while unmarried is no longer a issue.

Lakshmi: Her youngest finally gets married, and she gets to see her grandson everyday.

Only Chandu was honest he wanted no part in it

Lovely update Nisha! Everything was done because of Chandu and he does not want any of it - lovely. Glad Harit stays true to his character of not mincing words and laying out in open his financial situation.

Wow ! Lovely discussion post update . Loved reading them all.

Harits brothers and bhabhis? Where are they in the mix? Surely they should have a say too or be contributing to the finances even if Bauji makes enough. If harits bauji is rich and not Harit, then Avantika dad is and not Avantika. So how is she different from Harit and why does that seem a condescending approach towards her finances slightly compelling her to go on a guilt trip or the need for her to be defensive about her spend? Is it not matter of each of the families lifestyle choices or practices in upbringing that separate these two people now married. ?

Enough is not enough. Even a No is not enough . Chandu doesn't know enough to ask 20000 be spent on his toys or anything else. And why touch the nose going around your head when you can put your finger straight on to it.

Avantika is doing best in memory of the deceased by giving unconditional love to Chandu.
I don't think Harit himself also is clear what he wants. I guess changing course of your life should be done if you strongly believe in it not a penance. Hemant hasn't lost his life coz of something Harit did, I guess for him to repent.
He wants "some" kids. How do you plan to take care of them?
Avantika propose to him that you can work too and find something to do to keep some sanity to live happily with this man.

This is solid Pritee 👍🏼 definitely worth pondering .

If he was in UK to study law and had he stayed bk there practicing law, would he have done only pro bono there? Would that have worked? I mean he has saved most he says from his internship pay. Then why only probono in India... surely those hrs of service can be managed here alongside fee work if law is his interest and area of study.
It's not like his family is asking him to not set up something , they are behind him to get him started in his practice. Then why this compelling need for almost free service that's restrictive.

Going by the hrs he puts at work and how busy and wanted he is for his services, he is obviously good at what he is doing and there's enough to suggest going by his legal sermons to his wife, that it's a genuine like for law as profession 😆 ...

Therefore I'm wondering... this self imposition doesn't add up your honor

I agree
Its the Indian way of not letting the wife spend for the family needs. Large joint families are still patriarchal. Though he himself has lived overseas and acquired an education there, and a habit of leisure drinking

He still believes "men are the bread winners"

Its impossible not to soak in the old fashioned Vaidya ways.

Yes Alka and Suman work too, but I bet their income is not considered "family kitty"

They probably save for the kids' college or something

I know many families in Delhi like that

Oh yes Nisha they do exist . I have always felt quantifying patriarchy is very difficult. Economically this structure is still that but Under the umbrella of that structure, Lacchu still is able to call the shots . More so in such kind of structure then, Harit needs to be able to contribute to the family kitty on belalf of him, his wife and the some of his own he is wanting to have. It's not easy to live feeling obliged and living on their terms for the added new members who come in and are left feeling stifled.
