DREAMS
Urmila leaned against the wall, and looked up at the night sky, admiring the beautiful stars twinkling, and the full moon shining, as if in utter joy. Maybe He is happy about the wedding of her Sita Jiji and the eldest prince of Raghukula, Rajkumar Rama. She had teased Sita quite a bit, especially when she saw Sita looking at the moon and sighing, her thoughts on her heart's King.
Speaking of princes; Urmila felt a dark blush cover her face. The younger prince of Ayodhya, the brother of Rajkumar Rama, had captured her heart. Not many knew, but the second she saw him in the Pushpa Vatika, she had lost her heart. The care with which he treated his brother, the worry in his eyes, and his immediate understanding of the automatic love her elder sister had felt for Dasharathnandan Rama, and vice versa almost thrilled her, for some reason. Her eyes had met his dark ones, and she knew her heart and soul was lost to him forever, even as his gaze pierced through her.
His intelligence and bravery, as well as fierce loyalty towards his elder brother Rama was obvious in the Swayamvar Sabha! He had protested, and told her father that his elder brother would lift the bow. And Rama Bhai had not just lifted the bow, but had also broken it, with very little effort. She was in awe, and realised that the way her elder sister was Divine, Rajkumar Rama also was. She had seen a Divine glow around the one who had captivated her too, and she felt blessed, for having fallen in love with him.
"With the way you are gazing at the moon, maybe we should organise your marriage with Sita Jiji's
Mandavi's mischievous voice jerked Urmila back to realisation.
"Jiji, that is not true, whispered Urmila.
"Why not?, asked Mandavi, eyebrows narrowing at the unusually quiet Urmila. She had expected a protest and an argument, not this.
"I don't know if he loves me back or not, said Urmila, staring up at the moon.
"Do I have to teach you to read signs?, asked Mandavi, reassuringly placing her hands on Urmila's shoulders.
"Jiji, it is not that. It just... his life is his elder brother, said Urmila.
"There is none better than you to understand that, Urmila, said Mandavi. "He is to Rama Bhaiya what you are to Sita Jiji. You both would be perfectly suited for each other
"We would?, asked Urmila, her eyes shining.
"You would, said Mandavi, hugging Urmila tightly, her mind on the vague dream she had had the previous night.
Bharat smiled, as he supervised the Baarat preparations. His elder brother was getting married, and he was extremely excited. From the letter he had gotten from Lakshmana, he could see that his Bhabhi was his Bhaiya's perfect match. Speaking of Lakshmana, he felt a smirk form on his face. His younger brother couldn't stop talking about a certain other Princess from Mithila, the younger daughter of Rajarishi Janaka, Urmila. Lakshmana himself had identified it to be love that he felt, which showed how much he felt the emotion in his heart. Maybe, just maybe, there would be a double wedding.
With a secret smile dancing on his lips, Bharat went toward his chambers. He had a letter to write!
Rama smiled as He read the letter Bharat had written to Him. His neat, flowing handwriting expressed the true pleasure and deep happiness the entirety of Ayodhya was feeling. It was in his writing and paintings that Bharat's deep artistic nature came out. It was evident in the simple, yet poetic words.
Of course Lakshmana had written to Bharat about Urmila. Many might not see it, but the relationship Bharat and Lakshmana shared was a rare and unique one. There were times where they did argue, but those arguments itself were tempered with a love and understanding of the other's thoughts that it almost always seemed like a debate. Only to Himself and Shatrughan was the difference known. Even their mothers and father did not find the difference at times. Well, all except Maa Sumitra.
He almost laughed, thinking of how strict Maa Sumitra actually is. No mischief could ever get past her. Whether it was He who did it, or it was any of the other three. But she was also a sport. As long as the mischief was not harmful, she enjoyed their mischief. She was their debate teacher. She and Pitashree would sit with them, as they learnt the art of debate, as well as the ways of the court. Maa Kaikeyi was their warfare teacher. Her endless love and patience, as well as sharp mind, taught them how to work strategies. With her and their father, the four of them had spent countless hours, discussing various war strategies, and planning mock battles to create various strategies for.
And Maa Kausalya was their life teacher. Her words of wisdom were their constant reminder. She, along with their father, offered them thoughts on how to live life, and taught them about unpredictability in life. Her words, along with Pitashree's, Maa Sumitra's and Maa Kaikeyi's were the protective shield for the brothers, and the guide that led the four brothers to the life they led and will lead.
Wistfully lost in those memories, Rama took a fresh scroll and started to write. He wanted to send separate letters to His three mothers. He would be seeing His father and brothers very soon.
Urmila stared at the white canvas, blinking. All she could feel was the heat of the gaze of Sumitranandan, piercing through her eyes and into her soul.
"Painting is not just passion Jiji, whether with you, Sita Jiji, Mandavi Jiji or I. It is our expression. In different ways. Sita Jiji prefers to express her feelings and emotions by painting Nature, Mandavi Jiji loves painting animals in Nature, you and I love painting people, said Kirti.
Urmila shook her head. Kirti might be younger, but that did not make her any less wiser. She was the baby of their family, being born the youngest, but her wisdom is profound. Slowly lifting her paints, Urmila started painting the face that had become the object of love in her dreams and thoughts, of her days and nights.

Yippeee! Awesome start to this new TS, Srutha. I'm so excited to read it! :) The first chapter was superb. I loved the start of Lakshman Urmila's relationship and how their siblings support them. Urmila's recollections were so sweet. Can't wait to read more!
