"Hum ne kaha, who apni taraf se man maani karte hain she blurted out
Sita Ram guffawed
Lakshmi was a lil hurt her husband would take the side of the new DIL
"Baat to sahi keh rahin hain Sita Ram nodded laughing some more enjoying the joke, his body shaking up and down
Teeku turned red at the unexpected reception to her comment
Lakshmi grunted
"Kahen to, kaise kee unhoney man maani?
"Jab who zid kar rahe hain unko French fry chahiye, who turant chale gaye lane. Hum aisa kabhi nahi karte Dilli mein, Saket mein McDonalds kaafi paas hai ghar ke

Lakshmi was suddenly eager to know that answer

He waited hoping she would support her new husband

Teeku nodded
"Hum karenge baat unse, case ki date abhi hafte do hafte mein ho jaayenge phir aap jaana ghoomne
"Chandu abhi school nahi gaye Teeku reminded as her belly dived out of the chair and hit the floor
"Chandu ki chinta Ma ki aur hamari Sita Ram said
"pehle pag phere kar aayen, ghar pe rasoi Karen, phir Lakshmi insisted
"Chalo theek hai Sita Ram pushed his chair back and got up.
She took Chandu to the school with Alka Bhabhi in the afternoon, Chandu realizing there was no escape managed to fill out a math worksheet all correctly
She bought a bunch of candy for him and the kids at home
In the evening when they returned at 6 ish, the family was gathered in the living room like lounge upstairs.
Harshal, Suman and Lakshmi were sipping chai, and Sita Ram was snoozing with newspaper on his belly
"Is he a school boy? Harshal called out clapping
"No... No Chandu acted up running away with his candy bag
Alka went out to hand the kids the candy
Sita Ram woke up as Harit returned from work
He pushed past his wife who was on the doorway she was almost picked up and set aside by her husband
She quickly snuck out of the way embarrassed
"Hamare liye laayin chocolate? Sita Ram teased
Teeku handed a Cadbury Gems pouch.
"Inke liye? Aapke liye to kuch laaye nahi yeh he waved at his son
"HUM laaye she said impishly and pulled out a Cadbury fruit & nut
The family clapped and laughed
Harit accepted his candy smiling sheepishly
"Chivalry is lost Sita Ram poked his son
"U think so? Harit asked his Dad
"I do he nodded
"You had to rub it in didn't you? he chased her down back in her room an hour later
"Who hamey poochhe ki aap laaye French fries, hum sach keh diye she said earnestly
"U didn't tell him I shared?
She lowered her gaze self consciously

"No... your Mom said u lived overseas so didn't think French fries were a big deal she told him

He was actually turning around to walk away

She froze in shock clamping a hand over her mouth
He walked back and crossed his arms, amused
"Umm.. I was... I looked at a picture she stumbled
"U went through my stuff? he asked blandly
"Not STUFF.. just opened a already open drawer she said haughtily
"Did the picture jump out? he asked hiding his amusement
She shook her head in response to the ridiculous question
"Why do u ask questions like I am a witness she asked baffled
He threw his head back and laughed
"Not funny she blushed
"U looked at my picture
"Yes... beard, and man bun, and beer she said as if she was looking at him for the first time
"Not so boring afterall? he asked as if he read her mind
"No man bun she whispered hoarsely as he closed in
"True he nodded
"U drink beer? she asked accusingly
"I do... not at home.. just like I never grow out my beard... he explained
It excited and thrilled her to discover he lived a completely different life in secrecy
"I could tell your Dad u know she challenged
"You wont though he said smugly
Fingering the end of her dupatta that still sat draped around her head
He pinched it with index finger and thumb, and it fell
The cool air from the ceiling fan hitting her almost bare back in the plunging kurta
"Why is that? she asked through dry lips
"Then I might have to tell him you hate joint families he whispered,
His lips almost inside her ear canal, she shuddered, leaning on him for support as she didn't expect to feel his breath in her ear
