Meanwhile at Khanum's place, Kumud & Kumari are dancing.
Khanum: Where is Umrao?
Kabir: She has gone out.
Khanum: Where did she go?
Kabir: She has gone to meet Saras at his friend's place
Khanum: How dare she does that? Why Didn't you stop her?
Kabir: I tried but love will always find its way.
Khanum angrily kicks him & shouts at Kusum saying, "For God sake learn to present yourself while dancing."
Kumud gets down from the palanquin & dashes Pramad.
Seeing Kumud, he asks his friend, "Who is this lady?"
His friend said: She is a well-known dancing girl at Lucknow.
Pramad gets smittened by her beauty.
Kumud comes back & calls Raisa.
Khanum comes. She asked, "Where had you been?"
Umrao: Nawab Saras had called me at his friend's place. So I had gone to meet him.
Khanum: You know very well that no one goes out or comes in without my permission. But still, you went. This is Khanum Jaan's kotha.
Umrao: Saras knows that & he respects time. He has paid for the time spent with him.
She hands it over to Khanum.
Khanum: You are talking as if you are getting tortured.
Umrao: No, it is all karma
Khanum: And don't forget my karma.
She leaves.
Umrao takes the feather to write the message. Kusum comes to her & asked, "What is the matter? Why is Khanum upset with you?"
Umrao: Nothing like that. Just because I went to meet Saras at his friend's place, that became a crime.
Kusum: So you have fallen for Saras.
Umrao smiles: You can take it that way.
Kusum: I wish Lord Almighty fulfills your wish but the sad thing is we deal in love but have no right to love.
Umrao: But I am helpless that is why I have written this poem.
Kusum: Can you read that.
Umrao: Jaan dena kisi pe laazim tha. Zindagi yuun par basar nahi hoti
Kusum: Wow, my God
Flashback pauses
Umrao: Our love was blossoming. It was touching the sky and our desire was on the verge of getting fulfilled. We had a desire of meeting each other without seeing anything beyond that. I had even dreamt.
Flashback resumes
Kumud: I have written a poet.
Saras: Say that
Kumud: Ek shaatir chor dil mera churakar legaya. Paaswa kambakth sab sote ke sote reh gaya.
Saras: Now shall I say one poem?
Kumud: Yes
Saras: Ek shaatir chorni dil mera churakar le gayi.
Kumud laughs: I knew that you will definitely unite 2 robbers.
Saras gets a call from his father. Kumud gets nervous.
