The silence in the house was broken after Rehan came. Rehan had always been the savior. He has always been the one to bring joy and happiness into the gloomy, deprived, and pretense lives of Kripa and her children. He had been the one to bring toys, laughter , comfort, and joy for the children. And he had been one of Kripa's strongest supports for the past few years. The family first met Rehan when Kripa was pregnant with Salil. Rehan's wife and Kripa were expecting around the same time, and became acquainted with one another during their weekly checkup's. In pure irony both the women went into labor at the same time as well. But with an unfortunate twist of events Sahil's wife; Maria past away while giving birth. Rehan had always been a simple man, he works as a employee in Boston Market and his wife was a teacher and a nursery. After Maria's death, her parents took custody of their daughter Saffa. Rehan wasn't in any position to fight to get her back, which was very similar to what could have happened to Sahil if Angad hadn't showed up. Rehan and Kripa became great friends and he often comes to have lunch or dinner with them at home or in the caf. Till today Rehan is fighting for his daughter and Kripa at many times watch him break down because of it. Yet with so much pain and agony in his own life, and always seems to be able to bring a smile to the faces of Kripa's children. He was a gem of a human, and a precious friend.

"So who was that guy?", Rehan asked while eating down his mash potatoes. Kripa annoyingly put her fork down and rolled her eyes at Rehan and said, "Rehan don't talk with your mouth full its bad manners". There was a seconds pause at the table with Rehan making a awkward face at Kripa until he finally replied, "Yes mommy". With that laughter broke out on the table and sooner than later everyone forgot about who had come to the door…well everyone except Kripa who was still wondering about why Angad had left so abruptly. After dinner the boys went to their room while Rehan and Kripa watch some TV and caught up with each other. It was very funny actually. They both would act as if they didn't care, but the fact be told; Rehan and Kripa were two of the nosiest people you would ever encounter. "So who was the guy", Rehan asked again while watching American Idol and laughing the dude with the crazy hair. Kripa didn't answer the first time, but after about the 15th time Rehan asked Kripa gave in to the pressure known as Rehan. "It was…". That was all Rehan had heard because after that Kripa began whispering to herself. "Kripa babe, you really need to talk louder, I mean…I need a hearing aid to listen to what you are saying", Rehan joked. "Rehan you really need to stop calling me babe", complained Kripa. Rehan had a horrible habit of calling everyone babe . It was really disturbing how he would call every possible person babe and snap his fingers at them as if he were some Hollywood actor from the 70's.

Kripa's attempt of trying to change the topic didn't work out very well because after Blake sang his song, Rehan was back at asking who the man at the door was. " He's Salil's father", said Kripa finally. Rehan quickly turned to Kripa and switch off the TV. "That was Angad!", he exclaimed. "Shhh", Kripa didn't want any bit of the to go to her sons who were innocently sleeping. Kripa began recalling all that happened that day as she told Rehan.

In the next room were the two boys were innocently sleeping, Sahil kept putting his ear by the door to hear what the two grownup's were talking about. "So, do you know who the uncle is?", Salil asked while playing with his teddy bear. "He's no one", Sahil answered. "Come on! Tell me please!", Salil begged. Sahil took a deep breath and sat next to Salil. Okay loser. I'll tell you but you have to promise you'll never tell a soul about it…ever", Sahil commanded. "I'll never tell a soul about it, I promise", Salil said. Then after a moments thought Salil asked, "Can I tell mommy about it?". Sahil banged his hand on his head showing pure astonishment. "Dude! You just promised you wont tell!", Sahil yelled. "I said I wouldn't tell a soul. Mommy isn't a soul, she's a…she's a mommy", Salil replied innocently. Sahil wanted to rip his own hair apart. His brother was just so stupid according to him. "Okay, listen…you cant tell anybody about this. Not mommy, not Rehan, not even Betty", clarified Sahil. "Not even Betty?", whined Salil as he had always told everything to Betty. "Not even Betty Salil…okay?", Sahil asked as he brought out his pinky for the pinky promise. "I promise", replied Salil very excited to know what the secret was.

"He's our daddy!", exclaimed Salil just as Sahil revealed the secret of who Angad/Das was. " Not so loud idiot", Sahil replied banging Salil's head with his hand. "Sorry. He's our daddy?", whispered Salil. "Sadly yes, he is", Sahil replied. "I cant believe it! Did he come to stay with us", Salil asked, still not able to get over the fact that Angad was his father. "NO! He's not going to live with us!", replied Sahil very strictly. "But, if he's our daddy then…", Salil was now very confused. From what he saw in all the cartoons, the mommies and daddies always lived together with the kids. "Look Salil, he's just our daddy because…", Sahil paused when he realized that Salil wasn't old enough to understand the details of why Angad/Das was their daddy. "Salil…did he ever come to visit you?", Sahil asked. "No", replied Salil blankly. "Did he ever come to wish you happy birthday?", Sahil asked. "No" replied Salil. "Did he come to see me when I broke my leg?", Sahil asked. "No", replied Salil. "Did he ever come to see mom when she cried night after night?", asked Sahil. "No", replied Salil this time with some tears in his eye's and he wiped his nose with the sleeve of his pajama's. "See Sahil, he isn't a good daddy or a good husband. You weren't born that time, I was. I saw how he would leave and come and leave and come and leave again. He was ever there for us Salil, he's bad", said Sahil without a bit of sadness in his voice. "But he's our daddy", answered Salil. "No! Salil, you will never call that guy, that stupid guy our daddy, he's not! He's just a stupid loser", said Sahil. Without hearing what Salil said next, Sahil went to his bed and went to sleep. Salil was still sitting at the edge of his bed crying and holding his bear close to him. Sahil called his daddy stupid and dumb…but he was still Salil's daddy.

The next few days passed slowly and quietly. Kripa resumed her life as always, and everything was set in place. The only thing was that Salil would get more and more curious about his father as everyday passed. Every night Salil would sit Sahil down and make him tells stories about Angad/Das . As Sahil told Salil about the good times he had with their father, he slowly began to forget the bad times…he slowly began missing his father…he slowly began forgiving his father. But then Salil would go to sleep, and Sahil would again remember what kind of a lying man his father actually was.

One day Kripa was working over time at the caf. Betty had left to the bank, and business was slow so Kripa dismissed the two teenagers who worked there. It was a warm day, and it smelled like spring. Flowers, birds, warm air, and new life…it smelled like a new beginning. Kripa was cleaning up in the kitchen of the caf, when she heard someone come in. As Kripa walked to the front of the caf her steps automatically stopped at the sight of her customer. "Hi", said the man softly. Kripa stood quiet for a minute and then slammed the plates her was holding on the counter. "Angad, what are you doing here!", she yelled. "Kripa, I need to talk to you", he begged walking towards her. "No! And leave my caf before I call the cops", Kripa ordered taking the same set of plates she brought from the kitchens back to the kitchen. Angad followed her into the kitchen and blocked the way for her to leave. "Kripa, just…give me 5 minutes please", he asked. "Angad…you don't deserve a second of my time, now get out of my way", she commanded trying to push Angad away from the door. Of course, that attempt was futile. Kripa began a series of screams and yelled at Angad, and at first Angad was trying to calmly stop her, but then his patience also ran out. His came forth and grabbed Kripa by her arms, "Just stop it!", he yelled. The loudness of Angad's deep voice echoed through the kitchen, and silenced Kripa immediately.

"Kripa, I'm sorry for all that I did and I know it wasn't right and it wasn't…and I'm sorry", pleaded Angad. Tears fell from both Angad and Kripa's eye's, as Angad slowly loosened his grip on Kripa. " I was scared Kripa. I saw you bleeding, and the doctors said you might not survive and…I was just so scared of losing you. Kripa, I could live without you…but I couldn't live knowing you died. And I was selfish and self centered and I coward but…I loved you too much to see you die. I just so scared ", cried Angad. Kripa had also broken down into tears, the revelation of why Angad left simply broke her down. It didn't make what he right, it didn't ease the pain, it simply broke her. She sobbed like a small child in the arms of her husband, the father of her child, her lover. But she couldn't do it. She couldn't let him in again. This wasn't just the question of her life, the lives of her children. She just couldn't do it. "Angad…I'm married", she lied to him just to make him go away. Angad stood quiet for a minute with his eye's closed. "Kripa don't lie", he said still with his eye's closed. "Angad…I'm married, you even saw my husband the other night", she was convincingly. Angad opened his eye's and brought Kripa closer to him, they were very close. So close that Kripa could hear every heart beat of Angad's. "Kripa…your not married", Angad whispered. "How can you say that?", Kripa asked. There was another pause and then Angad replied, "I called our lawyer…he told me you never handed in the divorced papers…your still my…well your still Das's wife", Angad replied. Kripa stood dumbfounded for a minute. "Angad…you left. I was in the hospital, I was pregnant, I was dying and you left. How do I explain that to my children Angad? ", Kripa asked softly.

Angad slowly brought Kripa even closer. "We'll figure something out Kripa" assured Angad. Kripa cried even more as she spoke now, "Angad Sahil hates you…he cannot stand the slightest mention of you in our home. And Salil…he's your son but he's never met you, never seen you, he doesn't even know you". There was a slight notion of pain in Angad's face when he heard his little Sahil hated him but then Angad slowly stroked Kripa's hair with his eye's closed, "well figure something out Kripa. We don't have to rush anything…we'll take it slowly, we'll give the boys time, we'll fix this", he said. "No Angad, we cant fix this", Kripa answered. This time didn't reply. He simply brought his lips closer to Kripa's a kissed her. Kripa immediately kissed him back as if it were a reflex. It wasn't a passionate kiss really, it was more of a pure kiss…a gentle loving kiss. "Why are you so sure this will work?", Kripa asked Angad. Angad kissed Kripa again, and slowly lifted her head so that it would face Angad. "I know because I love you Kripa. I love you, and I love our sons, and I know as long as were together we'll fix everything", he said. "How do I know your not just going to leave again?", Kripa asked. Angad looked at Kripa and smiled. "I wont leave", he simply said. Everything was so complicated and yet…it seemed so simple because Kripa believe Angad. She believe he wouldn't leave, she believed they would be able to fix all this, and most of all…she believed he loved her. And she knew she loved him too.

The next several months were hard on Angad and Kripa. They had confronted Sahil and Salil, and as a family they had decided to try and work this out. Salil was just happy to see his father, and Sahil was…he was trying to trust Angad again. Sahil had been told that Angad changed his name from Das to Angad Khanna because he didn't want the media knowing where he was. Slowly, things began to ease. Salil began loving Angad, and Sahil began forgiving him. It wasn't easy, and it wasn't fast…the process of Angad, Kripa, Sahil, and Sahil becoming a family again took a very long time. Kripa had given in the divorce papers, and had legally married Angad Khanna. That was the very first step of the formation of the Khanna family…a family that had drama, secrets, lies, and betrayal. Yet…it was a family filled with love and that was all that was needed.

It just seemed to simple to Kripa. The situation Angad and Kripa were fighting with was so complicated, and yet the solution just seemed too easy. When times like this came, Angad would sit Kripa down and tell her that we humans always tend to look into something too much. We tend to complicate everything with out so-called intellectual thinking skills. He said that the answers to life were very simple…that life was very simple, that it was us human beings that always tend to complicate it. But not anymore…there was a simple answer to every problem in the world and that was love. And that was the answer to all of Angad and Kripa's problems.

Okay so, this was supposed to be the finale but…I'm adding one more part simply because as you can see this is the 19th part. I don't like 19 parts to a story…it seems incomplete. And so, I'll write the last part on Friday that will be the 20th part. See 20 seems complete. And well this "ending" just didnt make sense to me 😆 the real ending will be a romantic, happy, cute part. You know, the kind you all love to read and I hate to write. LOLZ j/k. Well yeah…so I'll post that on Friday.
