As Kripa's speech came close to ending, the stage managers called Angad to go back stage for his entrance. Of course, Angad couldn't hear the call for him either until the old smelly lady sitting next to him hand to literally smack his arm to get him out of his trance. "What lady!", he barked at the old lady. "Sorry son, but their calling you", she replied pointing at a stage crew member standing at the end of the row. "Sir, your up next", said the stage crew member still wondering why they called Angad to talk. "Okay", Angad said as he put away his Ipod. They into the room, which led backstage. The program was that at the end of the current speakers presentation, Angad goes on stage, shakes hands with the speaker, the speaker leaves and Angad begins his speech. Angad really didn't want to mess this up. The manger seemed a bit paranoid with everything turning out okay. It was a bit disturbing.
Everything was to go according to plan until the announcement was made. "Kripa ended her speech and was waiting happy that she got through this entire thing without messing up or forgetting to say something. And then is came… "Please welcome Mr. Angad Khanna", said the host. She froze dead at the spot. Her life suddenly stopped right there, and it went into rewind mode. Everything from the past came back to se her present on fire. And there the fire was…walking into the stage. Angad at first didn't see Kripa. When his eye's moved towards her, it was as if he had seen a ghost. He couldn't breathe, his knees had given out and God knew how he was still standing. He felt that sudden lump in his throat and everything became very hazy. Kripa left the stage right away and Angad ran up to the mike. He didn't know what to say, all he could think about was Kripa being alive, and Kripa walking away. He looked at the rest of the people staring at him, they all felt the awkwardness. "Wait!", he yelled out to Kripa. Angad's head began to spin…Kripa was alive all these years! "I'm sorry, I have to go", he said the audience. Angad suddenly felt bad and guilty. He was sure the stage manager was freaking out right now. "Great, another persons life I made worse", he thought to himself.
Kripa was leaving with her family. Angad ran out of the stage going after her. "Mommy why are we going, I wanted to hear the uncle talk", complained Salil. "Not now Salil", commanded Kripa. "Why did they call him Angad? "Why is he back mom?", Sahil asked confused at what was actually going on. Kripa didn't answer, she just wanted to get to the car. Angad was still running not far behind them. "Kripa wait!", he yelled out. It was raining outside. The sounded of the rain, the cars splashing the water, the sirens, the shouts, the wind…yet Angad's call to Kripa overpowered it all. With great strength and ran to Kripa overtaking their pathway. "Kripa, you alive", he exclaimed attempting to hold her face in his hands. "Go away", yelled Sahil who couldn't stand Angad near him or his mother. "Sahil…your Sahil! It's me, I'm your father", said Angad bewildered by Sahil's reaction to him. "Shut up", yelled Sahil. Angad and Sahil went back and forth at each other, with Angad occasionally trying to speak to Kripa. After a while of listening to the two bicker, Kripa commanded Betty to take both the children to the car.
"What do you want Angad", asked Kripa trying to be strong. "Kripa…your alive", Angad said again attempting to hold Kripa. Kripa angrily pushed Angad away, "Yes I am alive, no thanks to you", she answered. Angad knew Kripa was mad and hurt, but if he could only explain to Kripa what had actually happened, and why he left…then maybe she could forgive him. "Kripa, just let me explain" he begged Kripa. "No Angad! No! I don't want to hear it! I just want to leave, I just want to go home. I or my sons don't need this anymore", she cried. "Sons…Salil? Sa-Sahil is your son?", Angad asked dumbfounded. Kripa couldn't believe it. Was Angad just acting to be stupid, or did he really not know? All these years, Kripa thought Angad knew she was pregnant, and still choose to leave. But could it be that Angad didn't know? But all that didn't matter now…all that Kripa wanted was to leave. "Did…y-you go-t ma-married?", Angad asked unable to say it himself almost. Kripa was astounded by Angad. He really didn't know that Salil was his own. On top of that, the nerve he had to ask Kripa whether she was married or not. "How dare you Angad! How dare you! You have no right to ask me any questions about my life, because Angad…I handed to divorce papers to the judge a long time ago. We are strangers Mr. Khanna", Kripa exclaimed. Angad stood still in the rain as Kripa walked away from him. He stood still on the fact that Kripa handed in the divorce papers. On the fact that Salil was Kripa's son. And on the question that if Kripa was Salil's mother…who was his father? Did Kripa really move on? Did Angad really have no right on Kripa or Sahil anymore? "Where Angad and Kripa really strangers?".
At home Kripa made it very clear to everyone that there was to be no talk of what happened today ever. Everyone was to pretend that it never happened. It was still pouring outside as Kripa set the table for dinner. There was an uneasy silence in the house, and even little Salil knew not to speak. Salil and Sahil were two very different children. Kripa always found herself comparing the two. When Sahil was Salil's age he was much more hyper, bold, brave, and strangely intelligent. Salil is also a bright child, but he has a certain timid feeling to him. He's much quieter than Sahil ever was, and isn't as hyper either. It was funny though. Sahil was more like Angad even though he was Das's son. And Salil was the total opposite of Angad, and acted like Das in many ways. It was quite humorous when thought about.
Just as everyone was getting ready to eat, and door bell rang and Kripa went to answer it. As she slowly opened the door the figure in front of her shocked her out of her wits. "What are you doing here!", she demanded. "Kripa I just need to talk to you", Angad begged. Kripa grinded her teeth in anger. "Angad leave", she ordered. "NO! Kripa I just need some answers please. "You need answers? Angad I'm the one who should be asking for answers! Answers to why to left me in the hospital, where you were all these years? I'm the one who deserves answers!", yelled Kripa. "Kripa…who is Salil's father Kripa? You…are you married?", Angad asked hopelessly. At that moment, Angad himself felt like the most pathetic creature on earth for asking Kripa all these questions. Kripa could feel how hopeless Angad was, and actually sympathized with him. She wondered, if he was such affection for her, why did he leave her at the hospital?
Kripa was almost to tell Angad the truth when a man came from behind. "Sorry I'm late, I had a lot of work today", said the man as he entered the house. "Hi…I'm Rehan", said the man introducing himself to Angad. "H-Hi", whispered Angad. "Please come in, it's raining cats and dogs out there", said Rehan as he went inside. "Babe, I hope you made something good because I'm starving", he said as taking off his coat. Kripa just gave a smile and went inside. Angad saw Sahil and Salil both run up to the man and hug him. Kripa kept staring at Angad. "I'm sorry", Angad whispered to her. Angad stood there, confused at why he was suddenly apologizing. "I'm sorry", he repeated blankly as he mechanically turned around heading for his car. Kripa unable to understand Angad's behavior felt a single tear go down her face, but she quickly removed it and walked inside the house closing the door behind her.
Angad sat in his apartment building. Years of sorrow and regret piled up against his heart. All he had wanted was for Kripa to be happy, and perhaps now she was. A lovers joy is in their beloved happiness. That is what is always said about lovers. Yet Angad was so hurt by Kripa path of happiness. It made no sense. Either he wasn't a true lover, or that theory was pure bull crap because he wasn't happy. He was in pain. He felt so restless, that it made living unbearable. Life had become pure insanity.
