THE BIRTH
Queen Menavati slept, a small smile on her lovely face, her hand on her stomach, protectively. The mother in the Queen was coming out, as she knew that it was time for her baby to come out. A mother's instinct is to always protect her child.
In Ksheer Sagar...
Mahavishnu smiled. It was time for His sister to be born. She will be JagatJanani, along with JagatPita Mahadev, just like how Mahalakshmi is JaganMata to His Jagannatha. The path to Mahadev though will be difficult this time, for Mahadev had decided to close His heart off from romance due to Sati's dying. What Mahadev knew but tried to deny was the fact that when Sati is reborn, there is no way Mahadev won't let romance in His heart. Mahadev being emotional was always a treat for the Lord!
In a cave...
Lord Shiva felt a smile tugging His lips, though He didn't know why. He tried to control it and go back to His penance, but somehow He couldn't. he, who usually can control all His senses was unable to control the smile.
Narayana!', He thought, exasperated.
Yes Mahadev?'
The innocent voice of Lord Narayana made Mahadev roll His eyes.
What are you doing, you natkhat God?', asked Lord Shiva.
I am not doing anything Mahadev. You are doing it', said Lord Vishnu.
I am doing what exactly?', asked Mahadev.
You smiling. What control do I have? I know nothing', said Lord Vishnu, innocently.
Says the One who created the Creator', said Lord Pashupati, sarcastically.
Did I?', asked Kamalanayana, laugh in His tone.
Narayana!', said Omkara, shaking His head. How do your wives put up with you?'
Very lovingly', said Lord Vishnu, laughing. And currently, they all merged and became Mahalakshmi'
Shridevi, Bhudevi and Niladevi are Mahalakshmi', said Lord Shiva.
I know. I made it like that', said Lord Vishnu.
Now you accept to have a role in creation?', asked Mahadev.
Of my wives, yes', said Lord Vishnu, laughing fully.
Narayana, stop antagonising Mahadev'
The calm voice of Brahma Dev reverberated in Narayana and Mahadeva's head.
I am doing nothing Brahma Deva', said Lord Vishnu, innocently.
Narayana!', said the Creator.
Yes Pitamah?', said He.
Since when was I Pitamah?', asked Brahma Deva, bewildered.
Since now', said a laughing Vaasudeva.
Narayana, can you tell me?', said an exasperated Mahadev.
Your Jeevan sathi is going to be bron'
With laughter, Lord Vishnu purposely cut the mind connection, grinning to Himself in Ksheer Sagar.
"Swami, what did poor Mahadev do to you?", asked Shridevi.
"Did you split again? I am getting confused now", said the Lord.
"Swami, don't divert", said Bhudevi, giving Him a stern glance.
"Divert from what Priye?", asked Lord Vishnu.
"From telling us", said Nila Devi.
"Nila, my love, you of all people should understand that this is my Pastime", said the Lord.
"Playing with poor Mahadev?", asked Bhudevi, raising an eyebrow.
"Poor Mahadev? Hardly", said Lord Vishnu.
"He is. Compared to you", said Shridevi.
"Now now, what did I do that my three wives have decided to gang up on me and support Mahadev?", asked the Lord, twinkle in His eyes.
"He is our brother", came the united reply.
Mahavishnu sighed. Brothers and sisters! Thinking that, He shook His head, knowing that His little sister will have Him wrapped around Her little finger, irrespective of the Yuga. That's how He was with Vimala as well.
Queen Menavati grew restless as she felt her baby's birth nearing. To calm her down, the royal physician asked her to take rest, as it will soothe the baby down as well.
Anything for my child', thought the Queen, before going to her chambers to take rest.
As the Queen slept, the entire world grew beautiful. Prakriti's beauty was enhanced in celebration, the leaves greener, the wind dancing, the animals dancing in happiness. The snow on the Himalayas glinted, the sun shone on the hill tops. The sages felt glad, the humans joyful, the Devas ecstatic.
Devi Lakshmi and Devi Saraswati were extremely excited, for their third part, Shiva's Shakti was going to be born. This was the day they had been waiting for. The reunion of the Trideviyan was to happen soon enough.
In the chambers of the Queen...
A bright light appeared. So bright was it that no one could look at it without getting blinded. The light soon turned into a ball, radiating energy that contained the Universe. The ball entered the womb of Queen Menavati.
The energy radiated by Narayani was so high, that the Queen woke up, screaming. Her water had broken!
A few hours later...
"Maharaja! Salutations"
The worried and pacing Himavan looked at the maid who had entered.
"What news is it?", asked the King, just as the sound of a baby's cry filled the room. This cry was melodious in nature, like the song of the Universe rested there. Little did the king know that that was the blessing of his new born daughter's elder brother.
"You have a daughter, Maharaja! Congratulations", said the maid.
Himavan's face filled with joy. A daughter! Another daughter, who would bring utter joy to him.
Queen Menavati's mother came out of the room, holding a beautiful baby.
"Maharaj, your daughter", said she.
The king took the baby girl from his mother-in-law's arms, and stared. The baby girl was beautiful, shining in her dusky skin, rosebud lips, clear skin, and brown eyes that had an all-knowing wisdom in them, yet a tint of mischief. For a second, the eyes reminded the king of Bhagwan Vishnu Himself.
"I will call her Parvati", said Himavan, face shining with joy.
"Narayana! Narayana! The daughter of Parvatraj. Very apt", said Maharishi Narada, who appeared from nowhere.
"Devrishi!"
All of them bowed down to the learned sage.
"Your daughter is made for greatness, Himalay-Naresh", said the learned sage, his eyes holding a knowing look, one that couldn't be interpreted by Maharaja Himavan.
"Come Maharaja. The baby needs to be fed, and then we should take her to both the Narayana and Mahadev Mandir to pray to them for blessing us with this gem of a girl", said the Queen's mother.
"Of course", said the king, handing the baby over.
"Let us proceed then", said the King, making way for Devrishi Narada first, following him as he went.
