I wrote this ages ago, but I stopped as I was not pleased with how it turned out. Now, I have reworked the entire thing, and I hope this will be better.

PROLOGUE
"SATIII!"
The loss of Devi Sati shattered Lord Shiva. The thought of losing Sati, the time He lost Her, all of it was still fresh in His mind. Shiva was nothing without His Shakti.
He closed His eyes, and made a decision. A decision to do tapasya, and not get attracted to women again. To not let anyone get into His heart.
Yet, there was always Lord Vishnu, Shiva's Narayana, who would never let Him be. Mahavishnu became Lord Shiva's consolation, He became Lord Shiva's strength. Lord Vishnu, and Lord Brahma were the only two, other than Nandi, who Lord Shiva allowed into His heart. He always had His devotees in His heart, no doubt. Never a woman in the romantic capacity. Sati was the only one He would let that happen with. And Sati was gone. Burnt to ashes due to her father's arrogance.
"Mahadev"
Lord Shiva looked to see the Lord of all Lords, Bhagwan Vishnu standing in front of Him, a smile on His lips, a glint of mischief in His eyes. Unbale to help Himself, Shiva smiled, knowing that the one person who can make Him smile like that beyond Himself will always be Lord Narayana.
"Narayana"
"Mahadev, don't take hasty decisions"
Of course Narayana knew His thoughts.
"What hasty decisions, Narayana?", asked Lord Shiva.
"The one you just took. To not let a woman into your heart", said Lord Vishnu.
"Why should I? Sati is gone", said Lord Shiva, woefully.
"You never know. There might be someone new", said Lord Vishnu.
"No Narayana. There is no one for me after Sati", said Lord Shiva, suddenly defensive. "I won't accept that"
Lord Shiva's no-nonsense tone made Lord Vishnu nod, but what Lord Shiva didn't see was the small smirk on Lord Vishnu's face.
Mahadev, you are Trikaaldarshi, and your heart knows that Aadi Shakti is coming to the Earth soon. But you won't believe it, for you are still hurt about Behen Sati. You will though. Soon enough', thought Lord Narayana to Himself, before vanishing to Ksheer Sagar. He had wives to talk to.

Elsewhere...
A woman sat in front of the statue of Aadi Shakti, and prayed to the Mother.
"Rani, tell me what you want"
Jagadambe, the Divine Mother, very pleased with the devotion of the pious lady, appeared before her.
"Mata! My wish is to have you born as my daughter", said the woman.
The loving and eager tone in the woman's voice melted Aadi Shakti, and She said, "Tathastu! I will be born as your last daughter Parvati, the Consort of Mahadeva Shiva. You will forget this conversation, and will remember it when the time comes"
Saying thus, the Divine Mother disappeared.
Mainavati smiled, and looked puzzled suddenly. What was going on? Why did she feel like she had met the Divine Mother? Yet, she didn't know what the Mother said.
"Mainavati!"
The Lord of the mountains, Giriraja was calling her. Mainavati prayed one last time to Aadi Shakti, and turned to go to her husband.

Meanwhile, at Asur Loka...
Tarakasura let out a delighted laugh. Without any effort from his side, Sati was gone. There was no way he could die. He was indestructible! He was Tarakasura, the King of the Universe.
Little did he know that Aadi Shakti's birth in her human form was decided, and that when she is born, there was no stopping from Her Milan with Her Lord Shiva. He had no idea that His days were numbered. Ignorance is bliss!
