Arshi SS: Shadow of luminance

Part 1

The light can be a guide to you in dark but can also blind your sight in it's extremeness.
With only the roaring thunder and the flickering lightening as companion in the lonesome night, HE drives through the path trying to wipe of some horrifying images that constantly reels before his eyes. As the fierceness of the down pour increasing with his every constricted breath his view of the road is not clear but when the lightening struck he gets the view of a hazy silhouette before his car.
"what the"
He uttered in annoyance and tries to take a turn but...
*CRASH*
8 months back
"hey Devi Maya" gushes a girl in her pink night dress and she paces the length of her room biting her nails.
She hears her bauji calling her from afar but she is too nervous to reply.
She chants her Devi Maya name and looks at the phone in her hand every now and then for any call
But wait it's not any other call but THE MOST IMPORTANT call of life. A call that could decide her future.
"arey paagli" a girl came in her room and snapped her head.
Suddenly the girl in pink turned and hugged the other one tightly in nervousness
"Jiji"
"Khushi back off you're choking me" saying that she pushed Khushi and coughed
Khushi: Kya jiji. You don't care about me at all.
Payal: Paagli get dressed and come down. Buaji is already mad at you for the jilebi mountain piled up in kitchen..
Saying that payal handed her the RED ANARKALI suit and pushed her to the bathroom
Khushi: But jiji my phone... I need to attend it. It's important.
Payal: Khushi it's your secret boyfriend right? saying that payal made a shocked face
Khushi huffed and tried to snatch her phone.
But payal pushed her into the bathroom and locked it asking her to get ready quickly...
At present
Khushi stared at the ceiling of her bedroom blankly. Something makes her extremely restless. She feels her whole world is going to crash. She suddenly jerks up and goes to the window to see the terrific view of dark nature which she feels is the projected view of her present inner self..
She rushes to her Devi maiya idol and folds her palms to calm her restlessness
She tries to take a pinch of her sindoor after finishing her prayer but the sindoor dibbhi topples off and falls to the ground...
Khushi gasped in shock but all she could see was RED just before she looses her consciousness and falls to the ground...
*SMASH*

Part 2

Every day is a new gift which we embrace by unwrapping the eyelids to face the first ray of light after long hours of enclosing them in darkness
But today Khushi neither feels fresh to start her day nor she wants to open her eyes from sleep. Somehow Khushi gains her consciousness and looks at nani who was sitting beside her and stroking her hair gently. She tries to get up but nani stops her
Nani: Aaram se bitiya. Ur not well. Why do you always stress yourself. (She helps Khushi sit up and hands her water)
Khushi gulps down the water and looks at nani weakly
Nani: You should have have called me bitiya if you're not well. You know how tensed we got when Aakash found you unconscious
"I'm sorry nani" she told tiredly and averted her eyes before nani could see her brimming tears.
But nani noticed it and held her chin asking her if anything is wrong
Khushi: Kuch nahi nani. It's because of my sickness nothing else (but what would she say when she didn't even know the reason of her sudden sickness and heartache. More over she didn't want to give some more tension to nani)
Though nani wasn't convinced but she didn't ask her more for the time being
An year ago
"di di" shouted a man in three piece suit standing in the middle of hall
Anjali: Chote stop shouting.. Are you trying to make me deaf with your always shouting nature (Anjali answered climbing down the stairs carrying a pooja thaali)
Arnav smiled though his di had taunted him. Just the sight of her can make him smile. And for her smile he could do anything... He came out of his thoughts when his di put tilak and cupped his cheek kissing his forehead showering her blessings and care in a simple gesture. It's the daily ritual of this house where though Arnav acts to feel annoyed, everyone knows for a fact that how much he makes it a point to never avoid it even a single day though he got every chance to.
Arnav: Di how many times I told u not to put this thing on me. Why do you keep annoying me every day (he said in fake angry tine)
Anjali: (with a similar fake upset voice) acchha baba theek hai. I would stop this ritual oneday.
Arnav: Really di you saying this (
He asked genuinely surprised as he know how much she believes in these rituals and would never give them up as she trusts these things are the ones which could protect a person from evil)
Anjali: Haan chote I'm saying this because the day I stop doing these small things will be the day when I'll have a permanent replacement for me to do these to you
Though Arnav was confused at first but when he got the message he groaned and said "not now di. I need to rush off"
Anjali: Theek hai chote even I need to leave mandir early if I don't want to miss the pooja saying that she tried to turn.
Arnav: Di you never go to mandir this early. Why didn't you tell me before di. Okay come di I would drop you and go to office
Anjali: Chote it's okay. I will ask Mohan to drop me. U're already late. Hurry up and leave quick.
But did ASR ever listened. He ordered her in his business tone and told her to get ready and come with him.
But even the great asr didn't know the fact that this single visit to mandir could turn his life upside down
At present
Khushi sighed disappointedly at the phone as she got the same response for the nth time
"the number you're dialling is either switched off or not reachable at the moment. Please call after sometime"
How much she try she couldn't feel at peace. How could she be calm when she feels her other half is being shattered. She looked out of the window and wished for the morning light to disappear soon and the night to fall . As she knows she could see him tonight. She could hear his soothing voice. She could finally be cocooned into the protective cage of his arms. HER HUSBAND will finally be home tonight.
She clutches her mangalsutra and prays for his safety...
