@Beautiful I come from a family where girls are kept aside during their monthly cycle happens. But not to the extend I have explained in the story. But I have heard about men like Virender who just dont have to do anything with periods or delivery. Both processes and anything associated with it is dirty for them. Even woman are made to believe like that.

Actually it was post marriage I was able to deal with my cycle as a normal process thanks to my MIL. Else my life revolved around 25 days. Most interesting thing was I used to get cursed if my monthly cycle started on friday morning as there was pooja of goddess at home every friday. So if I had them, I didnt tell anyone.

I will tell the next day telling I had it at midnight😆😆. Because of restrictions I had lied about my cycle many times. Even while I have extreme pain in my stomach I will keep quiet and will not show it on my face. It was a bad feeling to be treated untouchable, impure and you cant explain those feelings.

I had refused to go for my third year B-Tech tour as I felt it is between my cycle and the thought of washing the entire clothes immediately after coming as that would be the first thing I would be asked to do even before entering the house was repelling. My friends literally pushed me and the fact that Industrial visit which was clubbed with the tour made me go for it. It was one of the best trips of my life and for once I didnt feel outcasted when I had my cycle as I was with my friends.

Shruthi, I can understand your condition as I have cousin who face this issue even now at her sasural. The irony is she stay in a nuclear family with only her husband and son but still she has to sit out (I mean in a corner of the house) like an untouchable and will have to wash all the cloths and plate & glass she used during that time on the 3rd day. Her husband will cook on all those 3 days. But just imagine her condition, if by chance some guest arrive while both her son & husband are away.

But one thing I still practice is that will have a hot bath at the earliest which my Mom had advised. You may call it mindset but somehow, I still don't feel like entering the kitchen before taking a bath because of hygienic reasons. And the scientific reason is that, if you have a hot bath immediately on having periods, you have relaxed body and even the pain (abdominal & lower back) will ease to some extent and you can have a peaceful sleep than tossing on your bed due to pain. I have passed on this scientific reason to my daughter and even she follows it as it relieves the strain.

Shruthi, even i too faced such situation in my sasural till my MIL was living with us. In my mayka i used to roam everywhere in house except pooja room. But in my sasural i have to be outside house till i have a bath, even my clothes i has to get from my MIL. after bathing i had to do all work but should not wash her or my hubby's clothes. after cycle is over have to wash whole house , wash all bedspreads, 🤢 🤢 by hands. (even which i dont use)

@hema Di yes surely for this generation lot has changed and I don't think we will have to face it. Your generation took all the pain for us.

@jaya I know the hygeine aspect of it as even I prefer entering kitchen after a bath and I wash bedspreads after 3rd day even when I was living in flat wiith my friends when I got job.

nice update... so sad suman had such a father and brother... sree will definitely understand her condition and may be after marriage he can give complete rest for her during those days... this will bring them more closer emotionally... waiting for the next update...

Would like to know how maheshwari handled all the changes in the initial stage of her marriage... Suman's wounds of the pasts are yet to come out in full in front of Sree.. this is just the beginning.. There's more to come in the visit of Sree to his sasural.. pain which only love of Sree will heal.. hope that the Suman who goes back to her sasural is free of her mayka's bad and goes to her sasural after her symbolic pagphere with happy memories of her mayka hope there were at least a few of them too...

@Ria Maheswari's initial life I had provided a capsule in one of the chapters after she knows Suman was not in agreement to marry Murali. She had a chat with Sreedhar at that point.
