Roli notices everything in the corner of her eye and keeps wondering what might be discussed. After dinner, Roli finishes off her routine and comes to wish her father, "good night".
That's when he calls and embraces her. He then slowly starts, "Roli, you would turn 21 in few days, I went to the astrologer this morning, he says that you would be very successful in your life. But, .."
Roli keeps wondering what could come along with this "but". Since she is conversing with her father she says, "Mmm.." to iterate that she wants to know what he intends to tell her.
He continues again, "but, you need to marry within this year. You know that there are many processes in a marriage. We need to search a groom for you. He should suit our requirements, then we need to arrange for a meet. You both should like each other. Not only that, we should like his family as well. Then engagement, other customary functions and then only marriage comes... it's going to take a lot of time. That's why your mom and me thought, we should start the process straight way after knowing your opinion on this."
Roli was now totally puzzled. She has some feelings for Prem. But, she is sure about him through his letters. Also she wonders if he could be same in person as well. She is totally confused. Her father could read from her expressions that she is confused. He doesn't want to carry the burden on this matter.
He lovingly pats her shoulder and embraces her. "Roli dear, you can be open with me. If you do love someone, let me know. I'll speak to him". What can Roli say, when she herself is in a confused state, she is unable to reveal her father anything more. "No papa, there's nothing like that. I was thinking of studying more that's why I am confused".
He father assures her, "I would search a groom who would support you to study further and beta, there's no hurry in conveying your wish. Take a day. Think about this but don't get stressed on this and always remember that your Papa and mama loves you a lot, no matter what and we will be there for you every moment of your life. You need to fear nothing. Be happy". Roli was happy that her father was so understanding and tightens the embraces and says, " Thank you papa. I love you a lot". She then thinks, she should be the one who God chose and immensely blessed.
