I am so so sorry for not updating

I wrote one now posting after this note...

Coffee & Cars

Not fighting was a bigger problem than open all guns aimed war they usually had.
There was no shelling no injuries no hurt or pain or repenting just a unusual calm and polite stranger like decorum between the two

The surface was scratched earlier in the afternoon when he chased and pinned her down looking for his phone
What lay underneath was steamy and delicious and addictive

But to taste it was all they could do, feasting on it would require shredding the facade

She went to the living room and curled up on the couch like a kitten waiting for the human

He found her asleep an hour later, while going to bed

He brought Nivi to her at 7 AM

She made a face and turned and buried her face into the back of the couch, he let Nivi suck and nuzzle her back

"I give up" she whispered rolling back

"Amma tediniya dee?" she cooed

Nivi smiled and looked up at her Daddy

"Do u want me to take her down?" he offered politely

AND BRING ME COFFEE
AND CUDDLE WITH ME

She nodded hugging and kissing her tyke before letting go

"Po dee Dadu is going to go to see his friend, tag along or throw a hissy fit" she chuckled
Nivi acted like she would tag along

"IKR?" II winked at her

He BROUGHT coffee up 20 minutes later

She heard the sound stainless steel made against wood and woke...

Her coffee sat begging to be sipped

The foam mile high and frothy on the tumbler

The scent wafting to her nose

"did u make it?" she asked staring at it longingly

HE SAT DOWN ON HER SOFA

"Did u want me to?" he asked


Sipping his espresso

"Umm..." She sat up primly " Main espresso kaha peeti hoon" she said quietly

"Friends are meeting at a pub to watch European soccer tonight do u want to go?" he asked'
"Only if I am allowed to switch loyalties" she bit her lower lip chuckling (she didnt care which team won, she just wanted to be on the winning side)

"Works" he nodded softly

"Nivi?" she asked

"Beeji is home" he said using the word home again... after eons


She was ready in 30 minutes, he had given Nivi a quick bath downstairs and she was dressed too in a purple cotton/handloom lehanga and a pink sleeveless blouse

She even wore dark pink bangles in her fat wrist

She showed II her new accessory when she went down for breakfast

"CHOOO CHWEEET" "Yaar kudutha?" Kollu paatiya?" (she nuzzled her doll) (great grandma?)

"Dad aap bhi chalenge?" she asked, to Rohini

"Amma ko keh idli tayar rakhen maine jaana hai aaj kal mein hi... aaj main Bhatia nu milne Pandara Rd ..." he said

Going to Rohini was always a mission

Now was no different with the semi separation, reconciliation

Amma greeted them warmly

II searched for Appa, he was in pooja

Amma brought coffee

Appa ended his shloka half way and got up to chat

"How is your father?" he asked R&B

R&B nodded "Much better Sir! Thanks" he said

"U live so far away... for old people its difficult" Appa sat down making a face as his knee killed him

Nivi walked to her Thatha and handed him his glasses first, and then the newspaper

Appa was overjoyed

He yelled to his wife "Paaru dee, thatha paper padippa teriyardu paar" (she knows)

Then proceeded to explain animatedly how she w2atched everything the two months II stayed in Rohini and still remembers

R&B was a lil upset his daughter liked Mr Iyer

Appa gathered her and sat her down on his lap and looked at her lehanga and her bangles and her fountain Amma had pinned flowers as soon as she held her grand daughter

II always stuck a bindi when she wore Indian clothes

Nivi looked like a doll

She started sucking the newspaper

R&B stuck his arms out

Nivi turned AWAY!!

"Will u be back in a week?" R&B asked politely

"I dont know, how much my brother needs me, I am retired now, I have to be of service" Appa explained

II brought badam halwa for her husband
He shook his head

"U dont even want a lil bit?" she asked

He wasnt thrilled abt the Iyer idea of chowing down dessert at 10 AM

"Appa can I take u to the airport?" she asked

"No kanna I will go to Janaki's and then we will go" Appa nodded

"Will u be here for a while?" Appa asked R&B straight up

He nodded

II checked on the condition of her Appa's knee and Doc visits and physical therapy
And the articles she had forwarded to him on the topic and his exercise regimen

R&B acted like he was busy texting his partners but couldnt NOT listen to it all

She had asked him about his elbow and had let Mahavir go and had dressed it last night and this morning
YET Appa made him jealous

"Its just a frickin knee" he thought to himself


"With a young child... its a constant run around for her only" Appa appreciated his daughter tactlessly

Amma slapped her forehead SPLAT!!

Appa was defiant

Amma had been observing II's body language to understand if all was well between the two
She couldnt tell thus far...

"Amma I have to go to work." II said quietly

"U can in separate cars?" Amma asked shocked

II nodded confused

"Ayyo" Amma whispered inaudibly

Perfect description of a Ceasefire at the line of Control/ Border. No firing and shelling , a period to see if a truce can be worked out as a permanent agreement to settle the dispute. I can't think of a better term than this at the moment for the status of this couple

Well scratching the surface has made them more desperate to go plunder ... So is it going to be game night of both pubbing and plumbing tonight to check if the parts,pipes and tubes are working Allright?! 😉

Appa can't stuff his face enough with the ghee in badam halwa after the ghee tempered adai . Overly sweet and over kozhuppu totally overwhelmed with how his grand daughter remembers things from her two months stay at Rohini , getting him glasses and newspaper on one side and on another side he has his kozhandai caring for his knee and health... He is choked with all this ghee and so he decides to part away with a little extra portion of that ghee by pouring it to dude's fire in the belly. Now that's called 'eriyara kollila ennai' or aag mein ghee . Appa with his broken knee is shooting for 'gold' in para olympics for the handicapped 😆 . If anyone deserves an award for hitting a home goal with impeccable timing, it's Mr. Iyer and Mrs.iyer can't do enough to bang her head here ... I think Mrs. iyer you should stop feeding him with immersed in ghee halwa and Adais 😛 and dude, fully fueled is blowing Enough heat through his ears now. Not only his wife, his angel also is giving him grief at his enemy quarters

That description of Nivi , her lehenga, that cute fountain, bangles . 👏 . She like her Amma must be looking million bucks attired that way with flowers on her kutti hairdo and kutti bindi. But just goes to show how kids absorb and shower love with such an open heart to embrace people

But if we look at this carefully Nivi is showing them the way for her thatha and her Daddee as to how they should be... Lessons are there to be learnt... If only they care a wee bit to learn... Sigh.

A little extra effort to normalcy is also romance. .
Loved every word of it. Froth is the coffee , and foamy is the cushy sofa. Every word 👏 Coffee on the couch. Sweet !
And II ... When he's asking you ' did you want me to make coffee''... She deflects the qtn . The three letter word 'yes' is missing in their dictionary.
