"Amma I mant a comothimbul"(convertible) Sid trailed her as she wiped the floor behind Sahana, her footprints marking the floor
The boys were being annoying today
She felt drained

Completely out of control. Last week running out of the human door on the front gate, a guard cleaning out the shed was bending down and did not notice
When II stepped out looking for her the lawn was empty, and the guard realized the lil gate swung open
Thankfully they found her at Macy's guard station
Sitting on the floor playing with a bunch of guard's pens
II had called R&B in Paris at 4 AM to tell him she lost his youngest
"Good grief" he had hissed
"I am sooo sooo sorry" she screamed
"She must have wandered, have u asked Mavvy to check, get all the help to fan out, I am going to find the next flight out"he promised
She had almost passed out in panic, unable to move or speak
Ranjan went out on foot, the twins realized this would be a good plan to avoid school
"If we cammot find the baby we dont have to go to school amma?" Ved checked
II didnt know if she shud laugh or cry
"No u dont" she hugged him and sobbed
Running out the gate with bare feet, Mahavir bringing Sahana back walking towards her
She looked up online options for keeping toddler restrained at home
He returned to India anyway, two days later, unable to wait any longer
She handed his kids to him and took a long 8 hour nap one afternoon, James and Chuck sprinted back and forth between R&B and the boys
He threw tennis balls for them, they were lazy... they let the boys fetch and watched
R&B chuckled
They goofed with him in the front yard
He lay on the grass with a couple cushions for head support and read

Ranjan made cookies for them, making a mess in the kitchen
"Daddee cam I have a combothibul" Sid asked R&B
"When Amma wakes up" he nodded
"yayyy... can it be silver?" Sid checked
"Sure" he nodded
Sahana got up and chased some bubbles
R&B watched keenly to see how many times Sahana ventured to the gate
"Dadde can I dye the dogs pink?" Nivi asked laying by him, giving up on her task of painting Sahana's face
"What colors?" he asked, letting his daughter lay her head on his arm
"Pink and purple" Nivi whispered and cracked herself up
"Ur Amma's probably not going to like that"
Nivi nodded chuckling
At some point the boys' blowing bubbles turned into soaking the dogs that turned into filling a aluminum trough/planter that Ma grew veggies in
turning into trying to "bathe" drown the puppies
He had to rescue the furry creatures, banning the boys from the side of the house, asking them to play where they can be seen
II pretended to hate the dogs but she was often found chatting with them, they sought her out every evening when she returned from work
In fact at times she wud let Sahana go, and grab the lil puppies
"She hated them only at first" Nivi spoke all knowingly
"I agree" he nodded sagely
"Was she really upset when Sahana ran away?" he quizzed her softly
"She couldnt talk" Nivi looked afraid
"Ur sister is a handful" he sighed
As if she heard that, Sahana screamed, the boys pushed her down, things exploded
Pandemonium ensued, Sahana was scraped, Sid's bubble maker broken, a jar of soapy water tossed
"She pulled first" Sid warned
He got up gave the boys time out grabbed the baby and went to sit on the swing
She was grimy and her hair was soiled, she rarely looked clean...
He had gone from staring out at the ridge across the bungalow to being sucked into 4 kids' shenanigans
He couldnt recall the last time he stood by himself in the balcony
His time was taken up in the front lawn mostly
Sid came out
"Seee even orth me" he said tearfully, justifying his release from time out
"Can i see?" he offered
He produced a invisible scrape on his left elbow
"Well... that doesnt count" he made a face "According to the book of blood, there has to atleast be a drop" he narrated his wife's law book
He noticed a glint in Sid's eyes as his mind cooked up a plan
"And no self inflicted injuries dont count"
Sid had to go back to his corner with a long face

He teased II that she did the time out thing frequently so she could check FB
"Ofcourse not" she lied, offended
Sahana played him like a violin, he realized it, but she was exponentially naughty, and cute
He was a sucker for evil... he chuckled
Sahana snoozed sucking her two middle fingers
After weaning it was her fave thing for comfort
"Can I go to Macy's?" Nivi asked nervously
"Why?" he enquired...
"Umm... we are going to bead our hair watching videos" Nivi smiled
"Did u check with Amma?" he asked
"Umm... uh... I mean" Nivi hesitated
"How about u go but dont start beading until she is up, and approves?" he offered
Nivi nodded
Ranjan came down from his nap
"Can u drop her off at macy's?"
"I CAN GO" Nivi bristled in her new found independence, free spirit expression
"No u dont" he warned
"Na gudiya" Ranjan cooed
"Daadu, its EXACTLY 67 steps to her gate" Nivi shrieked
Ranjan was a wimp he looked at R&B nervously
"Nope" R&B said
II would tease him "U wud probably build a dungeon and keep her chained"
"Only until she turns 40" he would nod
"All the kids in her class go places by themselves, she is ELEVEN" II championed for her gender
"Not mine" he said coldly
"Tchh" II would amplify the frustration
Ranjan grabbed a snoozing Sahana, cooing to her
"Time out kis waaste?" he asked
They pushed the baby and tried to drown the dogs" R&B said
Ranjan agreed
II came down and sat by him
"Can u can u can u can u pleaseee" Nivi begged
Ha" R&B smiled
"Ennadee venum?" II asked
"Amma can I bead my hair at Macy's?" II held her breath
"Yes but tomorrow for the Vaikasi Visakam event at malai Mandir I want no beads in the hair" she ordered
"Tchh. Ammma... u are supposed to keep it" Nivi shouted
"Niviii" II spoke gruffly, Nivi stealthily snuck off upstairs to change before her mother cud change her mind, she will deal with the beaded hair later
"Where are the boys?" she asked worried
"they tried to drown the dogs" he said
II yawned and leaned on R&B
"We sing and pray at the temple every week, yet my kids are homicidal" II groaned
He chuckled gathering her close
