Chapter 149- Corp Audit plan, Brahman Bhoj

Tilak sat with members of MA. This time Tilak had decided to give the audits of MA corp funds to new a group of auditors after carefully evaluating them.

Corp fund was something the MA collected from all its members on a monthly basis. This fund was used to support a member during financial crisis, to run some recreational activities which included annual day celebrations of the club and also to give to give awards to members children based on their academic performance. Members never seriously looked into the expenditure of these funds and of late there were many whispers coming from members that the books were not proper. Something else was happening with the fund. So the first task of Tilak was to ensure these books are clean so that he can win the members confidence.

When he tried to change auditors there were many resenting voices. But there were also vociferous opinions which said the auditors have to be changed as members want to know the truth of what is happening with corp funds. So slowly the resenting voices died as they felt too much resistance might show them in bad light and even an accomplice to the fraud that is happening with corp funds. Now the audit was planned for last week ofApril. Tilak discussed the operation procedure of audit with members. And he clearly told if there is some fraud coming out he would prefer to involve the police to investigate it. Most of the members supported it, telling if fraud was involved lot of their money which they had given to corp fund with good intention has been lost and they don't want to let the culprit go free. So it was decided if fraud is detected police investigation will follow.

Rajasekhar looked tired when he entered home that day. Even when he sat for dinner he looked absent minded.

" Rajasekhar what happened. You looked worried. What is the problem" asked Maheswari

" Brahman Bhoj for Murali's Shradh Maheswari "

" Why what happened. You went to Brahmin Mandali today right to get the priest and invite the Brahmins for the bhojan" asked Maheswari

Rajasekhar looked sadly at Suman. " Why they have problem with Suman" told Maheswari

" Yes they have. They told if they have to come, we need to ensure Suman wears the white dress, no shringaar, her head is shaved, kept in a room and this whole house cleansed with cow dung and all the utensils touched by her removed. Else they will not come and do Murali's Shradh" told Rajasekhar bowing his head

Maheswari looked at Suman who ran to kitchen, though she tried to suppress her tears Maheswari could see she was crying, Vindhya followed her

" So what do you suggest, we have to do all that to give peace to my son's soul " told Maheswari

" What is the other option Maheswari. Shradh is day after tomorrow. If no one from Brahmin Mandali comes we cannot do it " told Rajasekhar

" Papa why cant we call Dinakarji " asked Sreedhar suppressing his urge to get up from the table, go an hug Suman. Shaving her head. He didn't even knew if these people were human

" Beta Dinakarji has compeltley withdrawn himself from doing poojas, Shradh and other priestly offerings some 20 years back. As the new Brahmin Mandali that was formed after the current Mahantji came to power didn't respect him and didn't follow his ways. So he withdrew himself and only used to give astrological advice to anyone who visited him and spend most of his time visiting temples"

" Maa can I go and ask him. He will come naa" asked Sreedhar

" Beta it is 9 now " told Maheswari

" Maa please..."

For the first time Maheswari saw a terrible ache in Sreedhar's eyes. She was not sure whether it was because of his feelings for Suman or because after all the fight he will have to face the failure. She didn't want to deny him.

" Beta if you feel that way, you go " told Maheswari

He quickly finished dinner and got up. Sudhir said he will accompany. Sreedhar stopped his brother.

" No Bhaiyya this is my fight. I will go" Sudhir saw a firmness in Sreedhar's voice and a determination in his eyes.

Suman was sitting at the stairs. He stood before her

" Today even if I have to go to any place outside Jaipur, if I have to use all my contacts in Delhi believe me I will ensure you will not go back to that white dress, nor will your tresses cut and a person who thinks you are impure will not be doing the Pooja to give peace to the soul of my brother" . She looked at him, her eyes showing a reverence for him. " All the best " she told and smiled. As he started his car he silently murmured " Murali Bhaiyya if you think what I am doing is right please be there with me today ".

Rajasekhar looked at Maheswari " Was it necessary to leave him like this. Even if he manages to bring Dinakarji what about Brahman Bhoj. You know the Brahman Mandali doesn't listen to Dinakarji "

"Let him try Rajasekhar . There will be some way.He had started a battle the day he took Suman out to Kotwal Lane. I don't want him to leave it mid way told Maheswari".Others continued the dinner though everyone was silent lost in their thoughts. Maheswari looked at Suman. She was sitting at the stairs but her eyes looked hopefully towards the door.

Maheshwari's so focused even in this her eyes are on her goal

@Ria, Beautiful but now the problem for MV is that even if she see feelings in Sree and Suman's eyes that will not take her to truth 😆😆. As she will think it is the fondness that is coming up due to her effort😆. MV has complicated things for herself

Shruthi, Sorry for being late in responding as I was totally tied up during the weekend and also yesterday. I just finished reading both the parts. Maheshwariji is trying hard to bring Suman & Sree together and in the process, she has missed out the fact that she is being observed by her family and are feeling confused about her activities. and also she has so much faith & trust in her kids (Sree & Suman) and when that breaks, she will be hurt beyond imagination. Already she is guilty for getting Suman married to Murali with wrong kundali and now when she realizes that with that fault they had divided 2 lovers or shall I say a couple who were blessed by goddess, she will collapse and also the fact that her favorite son had betrayed her by hiding his own marriage (already she was hurt with Tilak's incident and now, if she realize her favorite son and also bahu whom she loved as her own daughter were already married and had hidden the truth from her for almost an year, will make her lose faith in her own love and affection. Let us hope the truth of Suman & Sree's marriage in temple doesn't surface at all.

Vindya's reasoning is good but it is time they make Nami understand why Sudhir chose Vindya over the unborn child as was concerned about the lady he married and he could not let her die so that he will have his heir. At that moment he was not aware of the gender of his yet to be born baby and still since he respected the woman he had married, he chose to have her than his own ansh. For sure Nami will understand or who knows by now, she has realized that fact but doesn't voice t as she knows that topic will pain her parents.

About this Brahmin mandala, how can they go back and claim Suman have to shave her hair? She had not done that when they did the Shradh the first time (during Murali's death). If she had done it then and had grown her hair now after the Dignity of widows, their claim was atleast bearable but not now. She wearing white is still OK as normally on the day of Shradh, if I am right, people will wear white cloths. Somehow, I ma not sure Dinakarji will be of great help. May be we can see a set of new priests from out of Jaipur, may be from Pushkar 😉, as that place is known for priest who does shradh.

But as of now, it would be better Sree controls himself a bit and allow Sudhir to take the lead (as he knows Sree's connection with Suma, though not as his wife)

@jaya all truths will come out 😆😆, because it has to come out 😆😆 but people will be in a better position to take it based on the timings of revelation

@ Shruthi, yes I know the age of Nami is not too matured to digest such things but it is literally difficult to hide such details from kids if the society wants to meddle with. It would be better for Sudhir to pep talk this issue Nami than allow some outsiders to poke their nose. Nami has accepted Poorni now who was an outsider as her sister in like her brothers. Sudhir had not done any crime in opting for Vindya as without a mother, child would have been a orphan and no amount of love from others will match a mother's love. Anyways. since this will give you scope to elaborate the story, you can pick the next and venue to reveal this to Nami.

And about Pushkar, I talked because I have come face to face with the priests there (when we went for a tour) who are ready to do shradh to the person in front of him if he pays money (but off course, it is acceptable in shasthras also (self shradh) if the person feels his kids might not do his shradh or he has no one behind him to do such things.

Anyways, since you are dealing with unhealthy practices of the society, I will be waiting for your next take.
