~A night of happiness A night of disaster~

She again dialed his number, but as usual, it came as unavailable. Putting the phone on the table she brought out her medical files. Flipping the pages she kept it inside her bag. She has to do some work - for herself at least. She was not fully well, but the more she will be inside the house - the more she will take time to recover. Picking out the dress she looked at the phone, still no answer from Arjun. After getting ready, she came outside of her room. Savita was serving breakfast & as usual Hariprasad was there reading newspaper. Seeing her, they both got confused - though Hariprasad kept a firm, nonchalant look on his face.
"Kahan ja rahi hai?" Savita asked her, placing the tea in front of Hariprasad. Hariprasad turned over another page of the paper in a cool & calm way - as if he couldn't hear what Arohi was saying.
"Hospital. Govt. Hospital" She replied.
"Kyun?" Savita asked again.
"Rakeshji kaha, agar main join kar pau, wahan jo doctor thi woh maternity leave pe ja rahi hai"
Arohi said. Savita nodded.
"Breakfast karke ja" Arohi sat there.
Savita looked once at Hariprasad. he was busy reading the sports page, Savita puts a plate in front of her.
"Mujhe laga tha, tu iss hafte ghar pe rahegi, aram karegi..."
"Bahar jayungi toh jaldi thik ho jayungi nah" Arohi replied.
"Huh..." A subtle pawky smile caught Arohi's ear, she looked at her father, "Arjun se milne ka bahana bhi milega...pata nahi aur kya kya dekhna padega..." He said & left from the dining table. Arohi kept on eating. She knew talking with him will be futile. Savita placed a hand on her shoulder - reassuring her that things will be alright.

Dehradun Govt. Hospital was not far away from Arohi's house. It took more or less 30 mins to reach there. The hospital building was old & the marks of neglect were everywhere. Arohi entered & passing the hallway, she saw her senior - Rajesh Kalra there, discussing something with the nurse. Seeing Arohi he smiled warmly. The nurse nodded & left. After she left, Rajesh Kalra looked at her,
"Dr. Arohi Sharma" He spoke.
Arohi smiled.
"Chalo, mere cabin mein jaake baat karte hai..." He said.
They came to his cabin. Arohi sat in front of him on a chair.
"Yahan ki halaat toh bahot kharab hai...aise environment mein patient rahenge toh tabiyaat aur bigad jayegi..." Arohi said.
"Bigad jayegi?" He smiled & sat on his chair, "Bigad rahi hai...har jagah ka yehi haal hai...phir bhi achhae hai...kaam se kaam treatment toh mil rahi hai..."
Arohi nodded, after a bit he stood up & said,
"Chalo mere saath, general ward ki halaat bhi dekh lo..."
They came to the general ward. A big hall room, where 10-15 beds were situated in a row & a small table were there beside each beds. Rakesh took her to one bed, where an old lady was lying.
"Tabiyaat thik hai nah ab?" He asked. The old lady tilted her head, eyes stuck with Arohi. Rakesh Kalra checked her forehead & then said,
"Ye dr.Arohi hai, ab se sare pareshaniya inko batana thik hai..."
She again tilted her head, but this time smiled too looking at her. Arohi's lips curved in a smile.
"Toh kya samjhi?" Rakesh Kalra asked Arohi after they came outside of the ward.
"Yehi ki medicine ke saath saath thoda sa pyaar aur proper care bhi jaruri hota hai" Arohi said. "Waise ap ye kyun kaha ki ab se sare pareshaniya mujhe batane keliye? Ap kahan ja rahe hai?" Rakesh Kalra put the stethoscope on his neck & said,
"Delhi"
"Seminar?"
"Nahi, medical campaigning karna iss baar mushkil lag raha hau, except you kisine haan nahi kaha..." He said.
Arohi frowned,
"Lekin kyun?"
"Iss baar campaign Luna mein Karna chahta hun mein..." He stopped, a weary covered his face. "Lekin, wahan ki halaat kuch thik nahi hai..."
"Matlab?" Arohi was confused.
They were walking side by side, the lobby was not crowded as the visiting hours have not started yet.
"Luna Rajasthan ka ek chota sa ganv hai, kul mila ke 55 families rehte hai wahan. Ab wahan ke do clans - Kasaniya aur Ishwarsena ke beech mar pit, jagda laga hi rehta hai...dono ke beech itni nafraat hai ki ye ek dusre ke saaye ko bhi nahi chodte...lekin iss baar mushkil ye huya hai ki ganv ka mukhiya Kasaniya se koi bana hai aur ye baat dusre clan ko hazam nahi hui Aur woh ab bahot violent ho gaye hai..." He stopped. They have already reached to Arohi's chamber. Arohi couldn't believe in her ears that where India is going towards progression in every sector, there are still some places where people are living their lives with rage & violence.
"Police?" She asked.
"Kuch nahi karta, mukhiya ki baat se hi chalta hai sab kuch" He replied.
"Toh aap wahan kyun jana chahte hai?" Arohi asked. Confused.
"Kuch logon ke daar ke wajah se sabse muh modna ek doctor ke ethics ke khilaf hai...khair main kal subah Delhi keliye nikal jayunga...I am relived ki yahan ki zimmedari tumhare upar hai..." He said. Arohi nodded. The more she gets to know this man, the more her respect was increasing for him.
"Thank you sir, I won't let you down" Arohi said as they shook hands.

Entering inside, she checked her phone first, but there was nothing, no missed call, no texts. Arohi was tensed, anxious, but now an irritation was engulfing her. Just today morning she told her mother that Arjun will give priorities to their relationship, he will take responsibilities - and now this. Arohi opened a report file, trying to engage herself there, but Arjun's careless act kept on bothering her. The day passed like that & she didn't get anything from Arjun. In the evening, when she was arranging the table before heading for home, a nurse entered,
"Madam, koi apse milne aya hai...andar bhej du?"
Arohi thought for a second, It was 8:00.
"Kaun hai?" She asked.
"pata nahi, kaha ki urgent hai" She replied.
"Thik hai bhejo" Saying this Arohi sat on the chair again. After a moment the door flung open & Arjun entered with a cheeky smile on his face. Arohi looked at him while he sat in front of her.
"Kya chahiye?" She asked after a moment.
"Filhaal toh tum...chalo mere saath..." He said & clasp his hands in a knot.
Arohi shook her head & then started arranging the files again,
"Mujhe nahi jana..."
Arjun raised his brow, Arohi closed her laptop & said,
"Dekho, main bahot gusse mein hun...tum jao..."
"Tum gusse main kyun ho?" Arjun asked. Arohi looked at him for a moment.
"Really? tumhe nahi pata?"
"Nahi pata...sach mein" Arjun said in a gullible tone.
"Main subah se kitni baar call kar chuki hun tumhe, ekbar bhi tumne call back nahi kiya...kya kar rahe the tum?" She stood up, "Aur waise bhi tum toh Ceder Rest janewale the...yahan kya kar rahe ho?" She asked folding her hands.
"Areee, yehi toh baat hai...main isliye call back nahi kiya because I wanted to give you a surprise...this" He extend his hand & wink.
"Arjun 15 saal ka bachha ho kya tum? Mujhe fikar ho rahi thi aur tum surprise surprise khel rahe the..." Arohi said. Anger was clearly shown on her face.
"I'm sorry" Arjun came towards her & take her hands, "Main tumhe tension dena nahi chahta tha...lekin aaj subah main Ceder Rest gaya...phir mujhe tumhari yaad aa gayi...tumhe dekhne keliye pagal ho gaya...toh socha tumhe jaa ke surprise visit de du"
"Pagal hi ho gaye the?" Arohi said, controlling her blush.
"Ji haan...ab chalo na mere saath..." Arjun hold her hands.
"Arjun, mujhe ghar jana hai...tumhe pata toh hai...papa..." Arohi tried to protest but Arjun was adamant,
"Baad mein..." Arjun said.

"Arjun, hum kahan ja rahe hai?" Arohi said, she was sitting beside Arjun in the car, the car was moving tearing up the darkness of the night. They had been driving aimlessly for the last 30 minutes through the suburban streets.
"Kahi nahi...I just want you to stay with me like this forever" Arjun spoke. Amidst of all her anger, her lips curved in a smile as their eyes met. Arjun placed his hand over her.
"Mujhe ghar jana hai" Arohi said looking at him.
"Kyunnn?" Arjun made a cry-baby face.
"Mujhe bhukh lagi hai" Arohi replied. A concerned look placed on his face,
"Let's get back to the city then, koi na koi restaurants toh open hoga hi...it's just 9:00" Arjun said.
"Restaurants jana jaruri hai?" Arohi asked.
"Toh kaha se khayenge? Khana toh woi milta hai" Arjun made a face.
"Not necessarily...there's a place, a small momo joint...Alfie's kitchen...hum wahan ja sakte hai..." She said. Excited.
"Street food?" Arjun looked at Arohi. "Arohi street foods unhygienic hota hai...kaise banate hai tumhe koi idea hai...upar se tum ek doctor ho...you souldn't eat all those..."
Arohi shook her head,
"India ki specialty hi hai street foods...khule asmaan ke neeche, haath mein plates le ke khane ka maja hi alag hota hai Arjun Singhania"
"Seriously!!" Arjun rolled his eyes.
"Aap Arjun Singhania toh ban gaye, lekin zindagi ka swad nahi le paye..." Arohi said looking at outside.
After driving for 10 minutes more, Arjun stopped his car. Alfie's kitchen was a small kiosk, that sat atop a grassy hill. The place looked unassuming. A canvas awning the colour of sandstone extended from the brick front, casting a block of shadow over the sprawling lawn, where a number of plastic tables & chairs were scattered across the patchy grass. A middle aged woman stood behind the counter, taking orders & two chefs behind her worked away in the kitchen. The air was filled with the rich smell of fried veggies. Arjun's face was impassible - he was completely disinterested. Arohi knew eating from this small street food joint would be difficult for Arjun. He has been brought up like that, his perspective was different, his way of seeing the world was different, his judgement was different & most importantly there were such things which were still different between them.When he got their meals, he saw Arohi was sitting on an empty park bench, a short walk away. The bench sat near the edge of a rocky cliff. The sky was dark where the starts were sparkling. They were alone.
"Jab main college mein thi, I used to come here" Arohi said as Arjun sat beside her & handed over her, her meal.
"This place is nice"
Arjun said, taking a sip of his coffee.
"Coffee? What about unhygienic and all?" Arohi mocked him.
"I am doing it just for you" Arjun said.
"Don't..." Arohi said looking straight into his eyes, "Jis din dil se karne ka maan karega...uss din karna"
Arjun heaved a sigh.
"Okay madam!! Aur kuch?"
Arohi gave him a small smile,
"Filhaal nahi, you know, yahan se sunset view is amazing"
"You love sunset?" Arjun asked tossing away the cup.
"Bahot" Arohi replied. And after a moment she asked, "Arjun, do you believe in synchronicity?"
Arjun thought for a moment & then said,
"Coincidental occurrences?"
"Which appears significantly related, but have no discernible connection" Arohi said, putting away the meal packet. A chilly breeze blew giving her a shiver. Arjun put his hand around her shoulder - pulling her close, Arohi placed her hand on his shoulder.
"Mujhe hamesha se lagta tha we have that connection" She said.
Arjun's lips covered in a warm smile. He remembered the dream he has had about Arohi.
"I had a dream of you once" Arjun said. Arohi lifted her head, eyes sparkling with curiosity,
"Kab? Aur main kya kar rahi thi in your dream?"
Arjun smiled as the memory came to him,
"You were singing & then jab main subah cycling karne gaya tha...I saw you in the church singing with the kids...so connection toh hai"
"Thank god" Arohi whispered. Arjun frowned,
"Why?"
"You know main hamesha se chahti thi to have a love story, jahan sab kuch hoga...pyaar...gussa...nafraat...misunderstanding...separation"
Arjun pushed her & looked into her eyes,
"Separation? You want us to separate again?"
Arohi grinned, said nothing. Arjun narrowed his eyes,
"Thik hai!! Jahan bhi jao main tumhe dhund hi lunga"
"Itna confidence!! Aur agar main khud se kho gayi toh?" Arohi asked. Arjun said nothing, there was a hint of smile on his face.
"Okay chodo ye sab!!" Arohi said to change the topic, "Mujhe tumhare bachpan ke bare mein kuch nahi pata...how was you as a kid?"
Arjun smiled,
"I was a grumpy kid"
"Yeah...lagta bhi hai..." Arohi laughed.
Arjun smiled too, but it was a sad smile, Arohi frowned.
"Mujhe bachpan mein bahot gussa ata tha, kyun ki main hamesha mom ko mere pass dekhna chahta tha, mom mujhe school keliye ready kare, mom mujhe homework karaye, mom khana khilaye...lekin mom keliye ye sab allowed nahi tha...kyun ki dad ko pasand nahi tha...unhe lagta tha...main mom ke paas jayunga toh mom ke middle class values mere andaar aa jayenge...aur isliye woh mujhe kya kya nahi dete the...toys, video games - mom's replacement."
"Arjun..." Arohi hugged him. Arjun was sad, he craved for his mother & the anger, pain gradually channeled into this rudeness & became a jerk. It's not Arjun who was heartless, Rudrapratap made him like that.
"It's ok..." She whispered, resting her chin on his shoulder. Arjun was looking at the far, "Ab toh tum dono ki achhi banti hai nah?" She asked after a moment. Arjun nodded.
"Rudrapratapji mujhpe gussa hai nah?" Arohi asked again. Arjun looked at her,
"Haan...unka deal jo nahi hua"
Arohi replied nothing, seeing her silent, Arjun said,
"Let's not talk about the past, talk about the future"
Arohi's eyes sparkled,
"Future?"
"Yes, tum, mein, hamara future..."
Arohi got up abruptly,
"Kya huya?" Arjun frowned.
"It's almost 10:45"
Taking her abg, she was about to walk away when Arjun hold her hands. Arohi stopped. A confused, questioning look on her face.
"Tum khud se kho jao ya mujhse alag ho jao...I will find you...no matter what"
Arohi looked into his eyes for a brief moment & then said,
"Pata hai!! Isliye khone se daar nahi lagta"

When Arjun stopped his car outside the lane, it was almost 11:00.
"I want to take you out on a date" Arjun's voice came from beside her. Arohi was unlocking the seatbelt, she frowned at him & then said,
"Mujhe lag tha this was a date"
"This was in a way" Arjun nodded, "But you know a fancy date..."
"Okay but Arjun...you know...I..."
Arohi fumbled with her words. She was not habituated with some fancy idea of dates. Her idea of a date was simple, where she can open up - have a heart to heart conversation - like what they did today.
"Arohi, just a normal dinner with me in a good restaurant...aaj ke jaisa nahi you know...somewhere more good...clean..."
Arohi raised a brow,
"Arjun!!"
"Sorry...sorry..."
Shaking her head, Arohi got down from the car.
"Kal 8:00...Blue Poppies"
She heard Arjun's voice. Turning back, she leaned on the car window.
"Good night"
"Sweet dreams" Arjun replied.
Smiling, Arohi left.

"Aaj ka din kaisa tha?" Arohi startled, hearing Savita's voice. Looking at her, she realized that, she has not eaten anything yet. She was unmindful, but why she didn't know. Something was bothering her. She spent a peaceful day with Arjun but still something was eating her from within.
"Kuch puch rahi hun main...kya huya?" Savita asked again.
"Thik tha...achha tha..." She took a sip of water & left abruptly.
At night, lying on the bed, she closed her eyes. She always have thought about their connections - but never thought about their differences. She was from a middle class family & Arjun was from a high profile business family - all these days she was only bothered about their external problems - but nowas they are together, their internal problems will affect their relationship - no matter how hard she tries to compromise - and today Arjun again proved it. The small happiness which life gives, Arjun won't be able to see that - & that's the problem. The difference between fancy & simple - will cost them everything some day. The thought rumbled in her head the whole night.

The next morning passed peacefully in Arohi's house - peacefully only because Hariprasad & Arohi didn't get into a heated conversation. Arohi was in the hospital. She was excited - yesterday's thoughts were still there, but it was not affecting her much. She has checked the patients - and gradually a bonding was taking place between them - specially with that old lady. Arohi was listing some medicines for the people of the churchgate slum - they supply free medicines to them once in a month - & most probably tomorrow she was going to do that on behalf of Rajesh Kalra. She checked the time once, it's almost 7:00. She closed her notepad & put that in the drawer. Who had thought that a day will come when Arjun Singhania will take her out on a date. Just then her phone beeped with Arjun's message.
"Can't wait to see you"
Her lips covered with a smile.
"In 45 minutes I suppose" Arohi typed back with a wink & got up, before leaving she went towards the general ward to give them a night visit.

Arjun was about to leave when his phone started ringing. It must be from Arohi - he thought. But the caller name was Salil, blinking on the screen. Arjun's brow creased. He received the call at once & Salil's tensed, anxious voice took over the other side of the phone.
"Arjun, call Suresh now. And talk to him immedietly" His voice was so bossy that for a moment Arjun couldn't process what he just said.
"Suresh? Mumbai offiice ka? Kyun?" He asked. Still confused. Generally Rudrapratap handle their Mumbai office.
"because those German delegates has come & you are here in Dehradun" Salil said.
"German delegates?"
"Rashi ke shaadi ke time you did a meeting with them, told them to come to Mumbai to finalize the deal & they are here"
Arjun sat on the chair. Rubbing his temple, he said,
"Where's dad?"
"Uncle can't do anything Arjun. You did that meeting. You were handling the whole thing" Salil said.
"Damn..." Arjun muttered.
"Arjun talk to them. I know you can't go to Mumbai right now, so if possible just fix another meeting or something..."
"Yeah..yeah...I will call you back" Arjun said & they both hung up.
Without wasting a minute he called Suresh Gupta.

Arohi reached the restaurant, named Blue Poppies. Blue Poppies was one of the best restaurants in Dehradun. As she entered a waiter came & took her towards a free table. Sitting there, Arohi called Arjun, but she found the line engaged. The waiter put a glass of water in front of her & gave her the menu card. She smiled, looking at him & tried to call Arjun again. It was still engaged. Maybe he is trying to surprise me again - Arohi thought. She took a deep breath & look at her wristwatch - its 9:00. She took a sip of water - no, no, he must be getting ready for a date - of course it will take some time - she consoled her panicking heart. But then why is he not receiving the call - no, no, he can't do anything stupid - he won't do that Arohi - what are you even thinking - don't you trust him? She was scared again.
"Ma'am order please"
The waiter's voice startled her. She looked at him,
"Actually I am waiting for someone, Can I place the order after a bit?" She asked, her voice shivered thought she managed. The waiter gave her a nod.
"Sure ma'am."
She again called Arjun, & this time it was not available. A whirlwind of emotion was engulfing her. She texted him. No reply. And her eyes stuck with the time. It's 9:45. She was here waiting for him for 45 minutes. And soon the 9:45 turned into 10:00. The tables started to get empty. Only 2 couples were sitting there. The waiter came again. But before Arohi could say anything, the waiter spoke,
"Ma'am, we are going to close it in 5 mins"
One of the couple passed beside her, giving her a weird look. Arohi's anger & irritation channelled into dejection & hopelessness. A glimpse of that party night came in front of her eyes. That day she felt the same. Exact the same. That day too, he invited her & then insulted her in front of everyone & today he did the same. Arohi wanted to cry but nothing came out. Each & every time she wanted to forget that night - Arjun made her remember that. The upheaval emotions were making her sick - Arohi wanted to go & hide somewhere from this humiliation. Hariprasad's voice echoed in her head -"ekdin Arjun hi tumhara dil todega"
She got up & gradually came outside. The night was dark & the wind was chilly. Arohi felt that she is shaking from within. Was it because of her anger or because of hopelessness - she didn't know.
"You can't humiliate me like this again & again Arjun. You can't"
She typed the message & press the send button & then switched off her phone.

Wow nice update... Well yes I can see difference brewing between them because of their class difference... Nd this sure is going to create problem... But yes arohi will definitely make him realise the happiness that we get from small things...

Last part was cliffhanger..

Misunderstanding again... I hope this time it won't last longer nd arjun make up for it... This story has true essence of today's generation... They also face similar problems...

Ahh nice one, that heart to heart conversation was really good, Arjun seriously needs to improve his coordination with Arohi and not to keep her hanging all the time.

Be it a surprise or business, needs to be a bit responsible though.

Again sorry and convincing her of his intentions is what he will end up doing all his life...

Somewhere Arohi will always be averse to such fancy restaurants now onwards, her concerns are genuine about their status difference and their ideas of having a good time.

Let's see how this progresses further.

Glad to see Arohi is doing good at the hospital :)

Loved arjuhi's first date - sort of date I guess -
Arjun seriously needs to do some communication course - he should have called aru and explained the situation before calling his Suresh - that would have solved the problem - aru wouldn't be this affected and upset - she would have definitely understood the situation - hope all will be well soon

Awesome update

Oops Arohi tried to called Arjun but he didn't receive the call

Poor Arohi was so worried for Arjun & also angry when he didn't even call her back

Uff Arohi dad still angry with Arohi for getting back with Arjun

Awe Arjun came to surprise Arohi at the hospital that was so sweet

Wow arjuhi went for long drive

Loll Arjun & his hygiene place he didn't want to eat street food

For the first time I felt bad for Arjun whatever he was till he met with Arohi all coz of his so called dad

Arjun wanted his mom love care attention & affection when he was kid

But his money mind dad didn't let that happened disgusting

Arohi for the first time thought abt their status differences which made her sad

Oh god Arjun got bg with his business & Arohi waited for till the restaurant close time

It's broke Arohi heart when Arjun phone was bg

I just Arohi will reach at home safely & Arjun will remember his date with Arohi

Arjun's problem is he only think about himself - he think that he can do anything with anyone. He thinks that whatever he does the other person will understand him.

It's not about only having a dinner in a fancy restaurants - its about the thought behind that. Fancy restaurants are good but that doesn't mean street foods are bad. Arohi think with 2 layers but Arjun's thought goes only one way.

True. Arjun doesn't think all this. His life actually revolves around him mainly. He thinks he can do anything & the other person will understand his motive. But it doesn't happen all of the time. And from this - their problems arises.

It would have been great for the both if Arjun just texted her about the business meeting. Though, Arjun is careless & sometimes heartless because of Rudraprarap. And now both of them are affecting by that.
