I've never heard it like that. Poetically you can do pretty much everything including breaking conventions so I don't see why you can't use it. Though it's the first time I'm hearing it like this.

Oh it's a song too! You can use it then, make sure you make clear it's a lyric. It'll be fine and works with what your story is about.

2. Rose with grey shades

Hi.

I am new here. I like writing. But the thing is i fall out of motivation to cintinue writing the one i started as soon as i get another concept in my mind. So there many unfinished stories in my system. I thought if i post them in forums i would get committed to finish them. But it didn't worked. I am still the same. So, any tips or suggesstions from the experienced ones to help me?

Welcome :)

Don't be hard on yourself for not finishing. It is quite difficult at times to complete a story and especially if you get lots of ideas for new ones. There can be many underlying reasons as well for why that happens which is different for every person.

I would ask you think about specifically what motivated you to begin and what is demotivating you now to continue. Is there something specific which might help you to understand where to begin to overcome it? Is it time, planning, reception, mood etc.

Also try to step back and take an overview of your stories to decide if you need to put aside a few on hold and focus on a select few or even one?

Do you think you need to trim down your stories and pick up the pace so it gets to the end quicker? It could be that your story need not be as long as you perceive.

Lastly do you need a break to refresh yourself and return to it later? A break can be really helpful at times to recharge yourself and bring your enthusiasm and drive to continue back.

One thing I do when I get new ideas is write them down in a journal and keep them aside. Sometimes that's all I need and the idea doesn't go any where because it wasn't fully formed, it was just an idea. Other times when I come back to it later I realise I could use that in my current story and help progress that one I am working on.

Moreover if you get lots of ideas could you write an OS or flash fiction or drabble on them. These are much shorter and could help you feel like you have written something that's finished or complete. That can help you to extend into longer pieces of fiction in a more gradual way.

I hope that you do continue writing because that's the only way you'll ever finish your story. Sometimes you just need to keep writing till you get there especially on long pieces when the initial excitement wears off. That's the way to break the cycle, to keep going and finish nevermind how it turns out. Word by word, part by part. You can do it and you've already come so far as well. So please do continue doing what you love.

P.s I'm also trying to do the same - actually finish writing a complete story - so I know the struggle is real and tough.

The thing is the new idea excites me more than the one i am writing and because of that i keep the current one aside and start working on the new one. As u said just noting it somewhere and thinking about it later might help.

You're welcome Veera and it's nice to know you feel better.

You're definitely right, new ideas are exciting so much so that you decide to focus on them while putting aside another but try and see if noting it down helps you. You still have your idea, you can write it in a summary with details if need be so it is like you've written it briefly. Then you can see if the idea grows into something more and take it from there. 😊

Namaste shaliniji, you aren't a small writer you are just new writer. :-) And as you have posted the ff in do dil ek jaan forum check for other writers in your forum who are active and pm them with your problem. Don't hesitate to speak with your friends happy writing

Other than IF, where else can you find fan fiction like you would find on IF? I know about wattpad and fanfiction.net and A03/ Archive Of Our Own but I know I'm missing some.

Has anyone ever updated their story exclusively through PM and how has the experience been?
