Thursday morning, in NOIDA There was no FM playing in the kitchen
There was no sounds of sizzle
There was no scent of lavender or meadows or roses
There was no jostling by the mirror, no fondling no fingering
There was no "NIHOOO" "NIHOO" shout outs every few seconds

"Neel kya karte ho aap, hatao isko, living room mein?"

"Neel MERE show ke oopr kyon record kiya aapne?"

"Neel 4 text aa gaye hain subah se unse, PLEASE late mat hona yaar"

He shaved hurriedly nicking himself on his chin again, pressed down a paper towel and ran to Nihar's room, Nihar sat there with his breakfast in front of him

Kids did not like to see adults grieve

Neel was splashing water on his face

Nupur's Dad was a bureaucrat in MP Govt and his Mom was a Physician

"We havent seen him in two months" Ragini Misra cooed carrying Nihar

Neel was cornered... he nodded acquiescing

"THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVERRR" Nihar declared

Nupur's Dad walked over and hugged him warmly

"How are you beta?" he asked
Neel had JUST stopped crying, that was a BAD question at a WRONG time

His filled up with bold tears this time

Ragini whispered in Nihar's ear "Show me your room"

The men sat down weakly on the sofa letting it all out

We are drawn to folks they attract us immensely by who they are

The intense gloom and despair fog our vision and cloud our consciousness

We long to bawl and share our grief to vent what weighs so heavily within

When all we have in children for company we are wary not to distress them with our pain

We mask our pain paint a smile don the goofy act and move about in pain

I had a bad day today and it all came out after reading this in tears. The whole day I was pretending to be Ok but now as I sit alone in my room I can't control myself. My brother and I are exactly like Nihar we want our Dad to pretend everything is okay. His happy face even if it's pretentious gives us strength and in his weak moments we feel like everything is lost.

My nanaji passed away today and I couldn't go for the cremation. It's a coincidence that you introduced nupur's parents on the same day when I was thinking about my grandparents losing their only daughter
