Loved your comment, Dee 🤗And yes, bittersweet is an apt word to use for this chapter. As dark and painful things look right now as far as Khushi's relationship with her parents is concerned...the fact that their hearts are irrevocably tied together remains. It's only a matter of time before the initial shock and hurt subsides and they are able to resolve their differences :) Enjoy your kehwa :) For someone who loves showing her characters relishing kehwa...I've never had one!
Nights in white satinNever reaching the endLetters I've writtenNever meaning to sendBeauty I'd always missedWith these eyes beforeJust what the truth isI can't say any more'Cause I love youYes I love youOh how I love you....Nights in White Satin - it was a very bittersweet chapter. And you set that tone from the very beginning. For sisters who share a bond as strong as Khushi and Anu do, it was sad how the latter could not be a part of the wedding. Or how she will have to rebound from the terrible heartbreak alone! But I am sure, she will appreciate the privacy and reprieve which Khushi...and Arnav have given her. I am not sure how I feel about the supposed relationship between Aman and Anu. Not just because of the age difference but also because through the chapters, I have always felt that Aman does not appreciate who Anita is - even after her contact name was edited. Also, I would not want Anu to be with somebody whose mother (if I am not mistaken) is as bitter as Aman's. (Yes, I am biased, very very biased) She deserves better for being the adorable self that she is.Coming to the wedding, I am sorry but I could not see beyond how sad it was for Khushi to not have her mother's blessings. I just could not. It kept nagging me through the chapter and at that point, I had to take a pause and come back and read the chapter again. And I am glad that I did. I have never been a fan of weddings where people flock, eat and go. So! this intimate affair was much welcome. I love how you have showcased the difference in Arnav and Khushi's ideals. For him, it is about 'blue ink and vermilion,' but for her, the wedding ritual transcends both. It matters to him only when he realises how much it does to her!Oh! I am not old enough to go and comment on the PG 21 part. :P But I shall tell you that I was looking forward to Champagne and Satin like skin! ;)Also, I can't believe Khushi actually thought about the set at the end of it all - it sounded so weird, I actually laughed out loud.Looking forward to reading more. I shall sit back with my Kehwa in hand and wait for them to enjoy their first day marital bliss in the paradise that Kashmir is.
The thoughts I edited out were deviating from Khushi and Arnav's beautiful day. Some thoughts would have been repeats and for Sujata I abbreviated my comment. I have no problem with her conservative ideals, I am disappointed with her for severing communication with Khushi and I believe that her opinion about Arnav is based on rumors and primarily on what Madhu has mentioned in their conversations...like that time when Madhu told her that he had to get married...or Arnav's (Aakash's) playboys...half truths are lethal. Coming to La, all that she accused Arnav of I think she is more responsible and Arnav being who he is has kept mum. Stubbornness - Khushi's inheritance from Sujata, but not as rigid...generational growth.😊
Immigrants/people, use nick names, abbreviate names or use western names to fit in or be incognito and cause a lot of confusions between names and faces. Is that why Khushi was extra shocked when she saw La in Arnav's apartment? I think Sujata was against Khushi going to Kashmir because of Arnav and his colorful carefree happy youth, but somewhat secure knowing he was married. La's suicide note and it's content, was it because she already knew Khushi?...some of my mind's wheels.
London...only 500 dollars for a ticket?
One Bond, James Bond, with many faces, but each Bond woman is unique with delicious names. 🤗
PS: Almost forgot...LKashyap with NKMallick...how about that...and I don't mean that from SF!! 😊
Loving this discussion 😊 @ Bold. Sujata did talk to Madhu about Arnav (A surreptious backgroud check)Originally posted by: canapoem
Kerrie, sorry to swoop in here but the sentences above in bold got me thinking about what you have written.Madhu did not know about Arnav and Khushi's love and she was surprised when Arnav showed up at Allahabad and further surprised when she came to know of their love affair. Same with Akash, he did not know that Arnav and Khushi love each other until Arnav told him on facetime from Africa where he had gone looking for Khushi. So essentially Sujatha never spoke to Madhu about Arnav, asking her if Arnav is a good guy etc.I think the only time Sujatha spoke to Madhu about Arnav was when Aastha and Arnav had come over for dinner on New years eve.By then Sujatha did not know about Arshi and whatever Madhu must have mentioned must be as a passing comment. But later if Sujatha had spoken in length with Madhu or Akash about Arnav, then probably she would not have hated Arnav so much today. But why did she not bother to know more about Arnav before forming such rigid opinions on him, I am really not sure.If Akash or Madhu did not trust Arnav, then they would never have helped the lovers. This itself shows how much respect they have towards him.But unfortunately Sujatha does not know all of these and she is not even in a position to listen to all of these.
No, that she didn't. Sujata did not disclose that to her.Originally posted by: canapoem

Then Jen, did Madhu know that Arnav and Khushi loved each other even before reaching Allahabad??
No, that she didn't. Sujata did not disclose that to her.

Jen, that is what I am trying to imply. Talking about someone casually and talking about the same person, sticking to one context makes a lot of difference. For instance if someone asked me how my cousin is, I will say he is a nice guy. But if the same person told me that their daughter loves him, I will try to tell them in detail about the kind of guy he is.If Sujatha casually called Madhu and asked her about Arnav's marriage or why he was getting divorced, then Madhu too like a fleeting mention must have said a pregnancy was the cause of the marriage and since the child is no more, they parted ways.If you look at the above sentence it looks odd. It does not put Arnav in a bright spot. But if instead Sujatha had told Madhu that Khushi loves him, I am sure Madhu's answer would be a whole lot different. And here Sujatha formed her own opinions of Arnav based on a casual mention by Madhu.
[/QUOTE]Well, when Sujata wasn't even sure of their relationship, it's future or how she and Navin were going to handle it...I'm sure she wouldn't have wanted to disclose it to a third person. When she called Madhu and casually asked about Astha's son, it was most definitely not with the thought or a possibility of a future alliance in mind :) It was more to prove to herself and Khushi, Arnav's unsuitability. She was, has always been, prejudiced against Arnav...3 main facts( as she sees them from her perspective and limited vantage point) fueling her prejudice...which I've never tried to deny or condone. 1) Arnav pursuing and getting involved in her daughter's life while still technically married (That her daughter went into it with her eyes wide open is a different matter) 2) Filing a divorce within weeks of their son passing away...refusing to consider his wife's wishes for reconciliation( she doesnt know anything about the dynamics of their marriage) 3) Pushing his wife to suicide...( again, her conclusions)Is Sujata right? No..because 1) she drew conclusions without knowing the whole truth 2) she didnt trust her daughter's judgement 3) she let misgivings about her daughter's future happiness cloud her judgement. Are people like Sujata rare? I don't believe so because jumping to conclusions and distrust/ lack of trust are two of the most common human flaws ever 😊 And to be fair to her...she did have to face a rather formidable situation as a mother 😊Hope that helped, Kavi. Loving this discussion :)Would love to know other readers' POV too :)
