Ok that was a sick one but couldn't think of a better comparison, like neighbors envy n owners pride, people would always envy your luck and pity your fate

Yeah EnVee, I think may be we can look at it this way. Luck is may be simething that happens by chance.
It's something you did not plan or have designs on it for the outcome. Like here, II did not have designs on the dude.

Nisha, lovely notes. I think of a guy who makes a living by selling lucky charms or someone asking to pick three numbers or three cards, if that were to happen, then why doesn't he pick three numbers to win a lottery week after week.

Yeah, in Maharashtra many Maharashtrain guys do take care of their in laws but yet to see a disabled one.

Men have easy way out in some matters. They aren't expected to like Bala didn't spare Vandu and told her she should be grateful to him for him being there occasionally.

But times have changed now guys do take care of in laws and forget their own parents.

And Guys who who do not tow the line set by wife face the consequences thereof.

Pritee, I have one instance in my family. My maternal grandmother has two brothers and one sister.
My great grandfather had chronic asthma and my great grandmother was immobized/ paralysed when she turned 50. My maternal grandmothers two brothers simply refused to take care of them and the other sister has a swashbuckling lifestyle that wouldn't hv suited to have housed them then.
My maternal grandmother took it upon herself and my grandfather did not object to housing them in a one bedroom residence in Bombay Goregon in the 70's.
Rare but very proud of their resilience . They lived with her till their end.
And like Swa said her brothers came for their share of their chennai house but her other sister was good in one way that she prevailed over her brothers and let her elder sister get the proceeds after what was left after expenses .
