Hersh...Shilpeshwari...hubs calls me sometimes like that...I have the habit of adding ...eshwaris to the names and calling... my kids and hubs and close friends.

I stay at Kalyan. Not sure if you have heard of it. Its suburban town of Mumbai.

Yes, you can have it for Lunch. Actually Masala bhaat is meant for lunch/dinner. Its Maharashtrian dish. I am a masterpiece who can have rice item at any time of the day.

FYI, I haven't prepared it myself today as now being pampered by my Bhabhi who is visiting from Gurgaon.

The recipe is as follows:

Oil ya ghee mein give tadka of cloves, cinnamon and cumin seeds. You can put asafoetida,turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala, bay leaves, daalchinni, curry leaves. Add potatoes, green peas, carrots and french beans and cook it for 5 to 10 min. Add the soaked rice and cook until rice is cooked. Rice is soaked for 5-10 min. I make this in cooker so one citi is enough.

Its another version of our khichdi / tehree.

The best part you can make this with leftover rice as well.
