Tejaswini looked at the wall clock. It showed ten o clock. She twisted in the bed. She tried to sleep. Her stomach was grunting in hunger. She closed her eyes. The stiff face of surya interrupted again. why he had not uttered a word? He simply dragged her like anything to the car and he spoke nothing till now. He did not ask where she had been but how he found out the exact place. She expected a heavy blow from him or some lashes but nothing. Amazing!! But why? She would be satisfied if he had acted in the normal way. This unusual reaction was so dreadful.

She stood up. No ! she could not sleep without knowing this. She knocked the doors of his room. No reply.

She went downstairs where she saw him eating alone.

She walked to him and sat before him. His sharp look did not disturb her. She took a plate served herself and started devouring the food.

Surya suppressed a mild laugh and poured a glass of water and moved in front of her.

"listen! I am not a convict here" she said with a mouth full of food.

The words were not clear. Surya showed his ears and said "pardon"

She swallowed quickly with the help of water and said again " I am not a prisoner here. "

" okay. So?"

" you brought me here"

" yes of course"

"so I am like a guest here"

He lost his patience.

" cut the crap"

she glared at him.

" you completely don't know the manners of treating a guest. You have to invite the guest first before gulping the food alone. I am also a human and I too feel hungry angry and all."

He was still impassive. He raised his arms a gesture of calming her down.

" k first settle down your hungry ..then the angry..till then shushhh" he said.

He ate slowly. Tejaswini finished fast and waited for him to finish.

" I thought that you had your dinner with your friend" he said by whipping his wet hands on a towel.

She smirked.

"assumptions! Why can't you ask me?"

" oh do I have that rights? You have all rights to do anything of our own. Eat. Don't eat. Go . don't go. Come or don't come" he said little harshly.

she tied her arms

"oh right!! Then why did you drag me from there. It's my wish"

Surya saw her straight into her eyes.

"why did you come with me then? Hope my grip was not that stronger"

Tejaswini dropped her eyes. A sudden silence fell between them.

"Come on Ms. Guest !open your mouth" he said.

" because..because.." her voice was inaudible.

"because the fault was mine. I should not not have gone alone with out you knowledge" she said finally in a low voice.

He rapped the table once

"that's it. So you understand that?"

She nodded her head.

" and you know why I remained mum ? because the fault was mine" he said in a husky voice.she could not believe her ears.

" I was responsible for what had happened today." She could sense the guilt in his voice.

" you asked me about the progress in this case. I denied to inform you. in fact, I ignored you completely. That's my fault. " he said in apologizing tone.

She felt a dignity and manliness in a male accepting his fault whole heartedly.

" you deserve more to know about your sister. Come " he clutched her arms and led her to his cabin.

He gave a big black file to her.

" The progress you asked. "

"have a look and tell me if you know anything about these people..if my guess was right then you may not know anything about these people."

She looked at the first photo.

A young man

The man in the next picture looked like a don!

The next photo was of another guy

brother of Ram prasad.

She looked at him baffled. He could see the fear, shock and helplessness in her teary eyes.

" what ! do you know anyone of them" he asked.

" no" she just moved her lips.

" My guess was right now. You know nothing about your sister."

She looked battered.

"who are these people? And how they are related to my sister?"

He sat beside her.

"The first man vidyut is your sister's colleague. He had proposed to your sister and she denied. He was quite serious in his love and he tried again and again. but your sister turned him down.

Then the next man is a doctor in his own hospital..owned by his father Kesav Narayan. Dhamayanti encountered a problem with him because of her selfless nature. I will tell you that later.

The next one was a local rowdy !

"what a don??" tejaswini exclaimed.

" what problem she had with this don?"

" well not directly but indirectly.I will explain everything in detail tomorrow! now go and sleep" he took back the file.

Tejaswini sobbed.

"what happened now?'

" I was very selfish in fulfilling my needs alone. I had not cared for my sister and she too didn't share anything with me"

She sobbed heavily. He raised his hand to pat her but hesitated and dropped it.

"it's ok! Calm down. Now this will not going to help us. Hope now you understand why I took you in my custody"

She remembered a thing suddenly

"sir! Today while walking from my house someone followed me. I ran and he chased. That time I found vikram there"

Her voice was gripped in fear.

Surya was ignited.

"what?? Did you see his face?"

"no! I was scared to turn back"

"hmm! How your friend came there?'

"he said he was sitting in a restaurant and saw me running. He did notice the man chasing me. But not the face"

He scratched his cheeks and fell into a deep thought.

"hmm! I have always a doubt about your friend. That's why I came to his house and exactly you were there"

Strange! She did not get angry while commenting about her friend!

"why sir?

" I am just amazing how many co-incidents are happening in his life. Nothing, leave it" he said.

Tejaswini walked out of the room. Before he closes the door she banged in again.

"what" he was shocked.

"sir! One more. In my house.. I saw through the opposite house's window.. the bouquet in my sister's table was missing."

Surya averted his eyes. he was faltering!

"yes..it was with the forensic department" he said that without facing her.

"sir" her voice was clear and composed now.

" I am sorry for what I had done today. I won't disturb you anymore.Please find out the person who killed my sister." She joined her palms. He could feel her helpless situation.

" I don't know anything about my sister and what had happened in her life" her voice became shaky.

" but before starting from Paris I called her. She was very happy and said she had a surprise for me.I had no clues about that. So much had happened in her life. I want to know all at least now. Please.."

He caught her joined palms and dropped it.

"I will ! do not worry. Go to sleep"

She did not notice the significant changes in his face. His eyes became red and moist.

He closed the door and walked to his cupboard. He opened it and saw the photo pasted inside it.

Those innocent smile like freshly blossomed flowers. Her laughter echoed inside his ears.

"when?? You have to tell me right now" asked surya

She smiled.

" how you got selected in police training. You are so impatient" she said

"that's not the answer of my question. I asked when you r going to confess" he was adamant

"oh..are u that much confident?"

" this is a question not answer for my question" she laughed again

"ok ok! Tomorrow.! she said

"really??' surya's face was lit up.

"yes..tomorrow is your day" she said

"shall I trust you?'

"trust your love"

"no fake promises right?"

"wait for your day." She said.

"one more day..ok"

"can't you wait for one more day.?" She plucked the bouquet from his hands and walked away smiling with her eyes.

He threw his clothes aside and took the bouquet outside. The flowers were withered. But the hands which carried this bouquet was still fresh in his heart. He caressed it with teary eyes.

" The surprise you planned for your sister and me was so cruel Dhamyanti" he said.
