Chapter XXXIX

"Miku ... Miku ..." Vandu opened the locked door and entered the living room. "Lord, this girl, she is careless beyond limits. Miku!" She shouted. But the minute she did, she saw the scene which calmed her down at an instant and she could not help but giggle at the adorable couple sleeping in front of her.

Giggling, Mihika thought she heard. With ease, she then opened her eyes and found Vandu standing in front of her.But soon she came to know the reason behind it. Before she got up she was sleeping as her head rested on Abhishek's shoulder and her left hand rested on his left shoulder. Though Mihika had woken up, her counterpart, Abhishek was still immersed in sleep. He was sleeping like a baby with absolute innocence and there was faint smile on his face.

Mihika knew not how to reason the sight which the Vandu had witnessed. Luck helped and Abhishek woke up. He first looked up in astonishment and then looked down with shame. This was huge. They will probably have to answer dozens of questions, he thought.

"Oh! Sorry! Did I disturb you? Well wait.. Go back to sleep. Shall I get you people a blanket?" Vandu teased them by feigning concern.

"Akka ... How can you just?" Mihika looked around and stood up to make sure that no one had seen them.

"Don't worry. Its only me. Thankfully. But you people I tell you! You really deserve to be caught someday. How can you be so careless? And Abhishek, I can understand that Mihika has little sense but I did not expect this from you!" Vandu spoke in absolute sarcastic tone.

Abhishek stood up and checked his cell phone. It was late. "Actually..."

"Look now! Poor guy, you don't have to give me an explanation. I had had such experiences myself, but well, the family knew about Bala and me. But your case seems different." She sat down while the other two looked at each other, absolutely confused.

Mihika blinked a few times as if trying to remember how did she fall asleep and how did Abhishek land up right next to her. While Abhishek, completely known to how he fell asleep last night, was cursing himself.

"Now wait. Just tell me a thing you people were here last night doing something?" Vandu asked with suspicion.

"Akka ... What do you mean by doing something? We were just talking over a cup of coffee!" Mihika was quick to answer.

Abhishek, the quiet spectator, felt an urgent need to leave and thus he held Mihika's hand, as if asking her to come with him. This could not go unnoticed by the third one and she was quick to state her remark.

"Mihika, won't you walk with Abhishek to his car before he leaves?" Was Vandu's suggestion which was also the first sentence or rather the first question which was spoken.

Before Abhishek could quit the room, he was joined by Mihika and Vandu then spoke, "Abhishek, I think we'll have to talk soon about some important matters! ACP sir, my sister is definitely a good girl but I am gonna make sure you are good enough to take care of her. So watch out."

"Well, I assure you Vanduji, Mihika is going to be completely fine." Abhishek nodded.

"Great then. Abhishek, let us please leave before anyone else sees you here!" Mihika held his hand.

They walked to his car together. It can be guessed that great deal of conversations might have passed between them.

"And today is the day post Diwali. Are we forgetting something?" Abhishek, feigning to have forgotten about their date, said as they finally reached his car.

"Yes! You are forgetting that you have a meeting today with someone!" Mihika nodded with a warm smile because she was excited for the date herself.

"'Meeting' eh? Really? Is there any special term for that 'meeting'?" He grinned as he saw her comforting smile widen on this remark.

"Date it is!" She told him. Just then, her eyes fell on his silver chain. The same silver chain which she wanted to take away long ago. Still, a nasty corner of her heart wanted to take it.

He easily worked out that she was observing the chain and quite happily he said, "Yes it is! So I guess seven with comfort us well?"

"Seven is nice! And oh! Don't decide anything about the desserts. Those are on me!"

"You are gonna make something for our date? Really?"

"They are on me doesn't really mean that I'll make them myself!"

"Great then. I'll leave now! Got to get ready... For work!"

And he departed. On his way an idea struck him, "she is not gonna cook!"

Chapter XL

"Yes!" Vandu nodded with a big smile.

"So basically, he won't say anything big?" Mihika looked at her with a really confused look. They were discussing about men (which was Vandu's favourite conversation since she got married).

"I am telling you. He won't ever confess himself unless and until you nudge him to! It completely stupid. I know but men will be men! They won't ever change!" And then Vandu look at Bala who was trying to fix his Shravu's chair and he had spread all the nuts and bolts around and was confused which one to fix where.

"But Akka, he is way too expressive! I mean, I don't think I can ever be as expressive as Abhishek! The way he cares for me, supports me and trusts me! It is hard to believe that he won't confess first." Mihika check her phone to see if she had received any message yet while conversing with her sister.

"That is how males are! They are expressive! Super expressive! Will be all caring, supportive but when it comes to expressing love, clear and loud, they will not do that easily! Abhishek will never be able to tell you - 'Mihika, I love you! I wanna marry you and I wanna have many small Abhisheks and Mihikas with you!' until and unless you force him!"

Mihika narrowed her eyes at Vandu. "'I wanna have many small Abhisheks and Mihikas with you!' Like really Akka?"

"Do I see a blush here? Hmm.. Mihika Iyer are you blushing? Oh my god! My little Miku is love-struck!" Vandu winked at her sister.

"You know what? I'll leave now! To have to leave now!" And with this Mihika retired to her room, leaving Vandu behind with Bala to fix the table and the clean the mess her husband had spread.

In her room, Mihika was musing over thing which troubled her. 'The first official date'. It sounded something really stupid yet fun. They practically had went on many dates till now but never called them 'dates' and now they were actually going on a 'date'. "How stupid does it seem?" She thought and opened the cupboard.

"It is strange. Mihika Iyer, you practically have nothing to do these days but talk about your. .. Well, your..." She looked into the mirror, "What is he to you? Is it infatuation? Or... Is it..." she stopped for a second and looked at the ring gifted by him, "Love?"

And the other second, her phone rang up. Surprisingly it was Abhishek, she didn't expect him to call the whole day. Well, he would be busy.

"Check the last shelf of your cupboard." Were his words before he hanged up.

Just as she was instructed, she did check it and there awaited a note along with a gift. It read like this -

Now, before you kill me for touching your cupboard without asking you, I want to tell you something. I did not touch anything else. I just kept this, don't ask me when! I am sorry for, well, breaking into your private space.

Then, you know we have something today. The date. How could I just afford to not get you something. So, well, here is a little gift. Its awful, I know but I made them myself. Yup. Myself.

Till then, miss me. Think about me because I am doing the same.

Abhishek.

Mihika colored. "Are we teenagers, Abhishek? 'Miss me. Think about me because I am doing the same.' Duh!". She quickly opened the packet and there was something it it, something which she love. "Muffins! He made muffins for me!" Her eyes bulged out as she took one of the two and tasted it. "Sugar is a bit less, needs to be baked properly. Well, boyfriend, you are a good one. Not a baker maybe!"

The rest of the day passed quickly. Mihika had things to do before they met in the evening. She had to set her book, mail some clients and order a novel to read. Reader, she was never a big one but preferred reading once in a while.

They waited, the time flew away, the night brightened the spirits and the sun lost its hold.

Abhishek had reached and was intently waiting for Mihika to come down. He donned a white shirt and to pair with it a brown overcoat along with a nice pair of denims would would accommodate well with the rest. It was hard for girls to not turn and look back before they left, but the ring in his finger clearly hinted that he was hooked. Some feasted with their eyes, some just passed by imagining mischief while other tried to suppress their jealousy.

Mihika finally arrived and she seemed to have dress at par when compared with Abhishek. She never liked to use a lot of make up and thus she had minimal make up, light earring which could attract any woman's attention and a bracelet (it was the first time she had tried one). While she had a lot of western dresses, she preferred Indian ones over them and was thus was wearing an elegant grey kurta with simple golden work round the neck and to pair with it a pink dupatta. Simple and elegant as she looked, Abhishek found it hard to take his eyes off her.

She stood before him and smiled vibrantly. He nodded. Mihika could guess that a lot was going in his head and she whispered in his ears, "You look great".

He looked up and smiled and looked straight into her eyes he told her with all his attention, "Have you dressed to kill?"

"Witty, I would say!"

"Have a seat, mam!" He opened the door of the car and she sat in.

Chapter XLI

"I liked those muffins. I didn't know that you could bake." They got off the car as Mihika spoke.

"I am surprise. Am I not?" He winked and held her hand and he proceeded into the coffee house.

Taking a comfortable seat where they had enough privacy to talk, Abhishek and Mihika sat talking before the waiter interrupted and once they ordered their coffees, they were again left alone to talk to each other.

"So...? How many girls checked you out? Let me guess, ten, twenty-five, fifty?" Mihika said with a mischievous smile which clearly reflected her pride.

"I see. You enjoy it when people envy you. But that's mean madam." Telling her in a polite manner he laid back in his chair and Mihika rolled her eyes.

"A friend suggested me to watch Vampire Diaries and guess what?" Mihika told him the next second intently, as if trying to change the topic of discussion.

"What? You are dumping me for Ian Somerhadler?" He feigned to be anxious.

She playfully hit on his hand and mouthed 'no' and further replied by saying, "it didn't click with me. Vampires are not for me maybe."

"Okay then, maybe you like werewolves or those Agents Of Sheild?" Abhishek spoke with sarcasm. He didn't watch anything but knew them all. For, he was quite active socially and almost all his friends complained after watching these shows.

"Nope. I like Caffrey. The high society con artist-turned-cop guy working for FBI. Swooning he is!" She told him with grin awaited his reaction.

Abhishek nodded and then with a smirk he remarked with great wits, "You have a things for cops. Don't you?"

"I would say they just come around and I cannot deny that attraction just brews up. What can one do when a cop, with swooning looks is head over heels in love with you?"

Abhishek looked at her, and with quite a reproachful sight. Then, leaning forward he told her, "Answers you have 'em all. Great that I don't have to interrogate you!"

The coffee could not last long because the talks were unending and soon they were left with nothing to do when Abhishek's phone vibrated and he told her that, 'they were ready to proceed ahead'.

They left the coffeehouse and Mihika was told that 'a surprise' awaited her. And once they reached the place, and got off the car, Abhishek held her hand and took her into the building. It seemed like they were entering from the back door and only a few were allowed from that side.

Chapter XLII

They entered a room. A dark one. Practically nothing was visible other than faint hints of objects. Abhishek was holding Mihika's hand. He stopped and then after a few seconds said, "Lights!"

The room brightened the next second. There were lights all around. Lovely lights hung from the ceiling, the walls had lights embedded and the atmosphere was the room turned from dark and dull to lively and romantic within a second.

Mihika, who was thoroughly shocked, looked around in amazement. She could hardly express her feelings. It was strange to feel like that while Abhishek stood in front of her. But she managed to ask me, "Where are we?"

Nodding like a gentleman, he replied with a charming smile, "Close to my home. But well, we are at private classes. These are places for people who want to get lost into some art or skill that they want to discover."

"Private classes?" She seemed confused because the place seemed more like a restaurant than classes where people learn something.

"Sorry. I meant," he said removing the covers off a platform, "private cooking classes."

Mihika was surprised. This was not the kind of date you expect from a guy like Abhishek. He was busy with work, too busy to invest enough time to handle his private life but here, it seemed like complete opposite.

"Now, what are we going to do exactly?" She asked him out of curiosity.

"Well, we are gonna cook... together." He looked at her with excitement and awaited her reply. This was something different.

"Okay. So, we are gonna cook. That makes sense but well... I don't know how to cook!" She looked down with embarrassment and a light blush colored her cheeks.

He smiled at her sweet mannerisms and then, closing up the distance between them, he told her as he looked into her eyes, with deep affection, "Don't worry. I'll teach you how to do that. Everything. I'll teach you everything which you want. I'll complete you!"

Mihika was tranced. His affection, it was visible in his eyes. Anyone could tell that he was in love with her. She felt light and comfortable because she could trust him. She could trust him that he won't leave her, even in the worst of situations. Her heart was sure of it.

"So, how do we start?" She asked him as she loved forwards and picked up a knife and pointed it towards Abhishek with a smile.

He slowly went to her and placed the knife down and then said, "We start with that!"

"Told you. Know little about cooking!"

"That's okay. You'll learn it all. Here hold it this way." He showed her as he placed a tomato on the chopping board and held the knife against it.

She took it all in and tried to imitate the same and then just before she could cut it, he said, "No Mihika, not like that. Okay. Lets do it together!"

Abhishek went behind her and placed his right hand upon hers and his left hand pulled her closer. And then placing his chin on her shoulder, he asked her to continue.

"Yes. That is the way. Exactly." He told her as they cut the tomatoes together. He closed his eyes and smiled before her voice interrupted.

"Abhishek, I know how to cut vegetables. Its not a rocket science!" She said laughing and he observed that she was feigning to not know the process. So, he went and said on the counter, just in front of her while she cut the rest of the vegetables.

"Right then. So, what exactly are we going to cook?" She asked him as she chopped another tomato.

"You tell. What do you wish to eat? Look now, I am not a chef so I guess you'll have to comprise with something easy to cook and simple one because Continental and others are not something I can make!"

"I get that. So we need to cook something easy and simple. Then can we make some aalo parathas and some chutney and to pair with it some gulab-jamuns!"

"How will we make gulab-jamuns?" He asked.

"Oh! I made some myself today. Vandu and Ishita akka together taught me and I did terrible in the first go but the third time they were good enough to be eaten and were pronounced to be 'nice'. So I brought them here!" She said with pride.

"Okay then. The dessert is ready. Now we just need to get those parathas ready. Shall we start then?"

"Sure. I have a really faint idea. We start with boiling potatoes. Don't we?"

"Exactly!", he nodded.

The potatoes were boiled, mashed and the filling was prepared. Now, a new problem arose.

"Erm ... I cannot roll a circular paratha." Abhishek said as his cheeks turned red with embarrassment.

"Well, now that is some problem. Lets see, can we try it together? Just like you were me how to cut the vegetables. That way maybe we can make them." She suggested and picked up the rolling in with excitement.

"There's no harm in trying!" He jumped go and got ready in a second.

They got ready and started with the feat. Slowly and gradually they were done with the first one and then the second and within half an hour they had made five parathas and then they baked those on a flat pan over the stove.

"Done!" She bubbled with excitement and enthusiastically prepared the plates for both of them and they sat down to eat.

Chapter XLIII

They ate with much pleasure. Though, the food was not something which one would pronounce to be "special" for a first date, but the joy of cooking together they received was beyond any other.

Once they were done, Mihika's phone buzzed. It was a message from Vandu and it read as

"Miku, Amma and Appa will be back home in 30 minutes. Please please please, come back before they do."

"Abhishek, we need to leave!" Mihika said after reading the message.

"Why exactly?" He seemed worried on her sudden announcement.

"Its too late na! That is why."

"But Mihika its hardly past ten!"

"Abhishek, listen to me. I have to leave now and if I don't I'll be in big trouble. I know this might hurt you but I am sorry!" She said tenderly as she kept her hand on his. It was tough to leave like that because she wanted to stay and spend more time with him but she could not.

"Hey! You don't have to say sorry or anything! Okay? Come, I'll drop you back home." He told her and they stood up to leave.

Before they quit the room, Mihika looked back at the whole setting. It had given her some beautiful memories to cherish for life. Their first date, was not set in Paris but it was still the most affectionate time that they had spent together. Every second of this evening, she thought she would remember for life. Abhishek was someone full of surprises, in the simplest of manner he produced the best of experience.

She looked into his eyes. She could see much more than just affection. It is widely known and accepted that affections paves path for love but to feel that, is much more than to see it. She closed the distance between them and embraced him. It felt complete. To be with someone who love you, to be with someone after all the turmoil in life, to have someone who can comfort you in everything, is something which makes life worth living.

"Thank you for this. Abhishek," she looked up into his eyes, "thank you for happening to me."

"Shessh! Mihika, when did you get my cheesiness?" He said jokingly. Mihika was not someone he expected to be weak.

Her gaze quickly turned from affectionate to reproachful. While expressing her heart out she did not expect Abhishek to say anything like that to her. Soon enough, the apology came and it was accepted with much pleasure.

He pulled her closer. Distance between hearts closed before the one between bodies. Mihika placed her hand on his heart and felt his heartbeat. It was slow as if he was calm and sanguine which completely complimented her emotions at this moment. It was a moment for them. A moment which they wanted to be full of each other.

Caressing his hair as she put her arms around his neck, "Thank you for today Mr.ACP! I could have never asked for anything else. To be with you and spend time with you as I learn to cook, well of course was fun and it was perfect in every sense. It was the best one could do for me and that is what makes me happy! You... Make me happy!"

A smile was what she received is reply. A warm contenting smile which reflected his ardent love for her. It was tough to say anything because he wanted to say everything but did not have the courage to say that at this point. "Madam, are we not getting late?"

"We are. But before we leave I want to tell you something. Something which I wanted to tell you since long." She looked at his eyes which anticipated her to say something rich. Something which would complete their date and just leave them wanting much more.

As she whispered in his ear, he could feel his blood rush up, "You, ACP Abhishek Singh, are the perfect guy for me!"

"A REEL LOOK"

With Altaf Khan

Kyunki Yeh Hai Asli Mohabbatein: Mischief, Food and Sleeplessness on Set

Ladies and gentlemen, I am Altaf Khan from IDTN's "A Reel Look" sneaking around backstage with a very exclusive behind the scene scoop for the eyes of our readers only!

IDTN has recently expanded and we are now more than excited to inform you we are on the set of the very special, recently launched Surr Do Dilon Ka with the gorgeous Mihika and dashing policeman of Tellywood: Abhishek. This enviable jodi, christened AbhiKa, have captured the hearts of so many that we could not help but come and see for ourselves whether that chemistry that sizzles on our screens continues to burn long after the final take! Indeed our inbox and mail has grown so big with requests we felt it was our duty to scoop out the 411 on this new tale that has hit your screens.

But as we scamper quiet as a mice (so that we do not disturb filming that is going on for future updates) we find that being a hottie in a uniform takes its toll because we come across Abhi sleeping on a couch. With his arms folded and feet up he is enjoying a quick snooze in between shots. Even his apron for his makeup is still tied to him!

Yet behold just as we approach from behind the sofa two heads, partners in crime, slowly rise. Waiting a few seconds we are quick to note mastikhors Mihika and Vandu both launch into shouts and vuvuzuela practise as they get up to their usual mischief.

Our officer not on duty jumps right out of his skin and grabs Mihika by the arm before pulling her onto him! With a few quick glances at our camera they cough and settle themselves ready for our impromptu interview. Vandu too joins us.

"Sorry about that, we could not help it. Our ACP spends all night shooting that he doesn't even get time to sleep! So he likes to fall asleep whenever he can and we can't help but take advantage of that." Mihika explains in a fit of giggles as Abhi is trying to get the apron off his face. Their previous altercation has left his head covered by the apron and he is unable to get it off easily.

"It's true. When a policeman commits the crime of falling in love, these are the unfortunate consequences. Not sleeping on time, not eating on time and more!" Vandu agrees helping him to finally remove it from his face.

"Neither can I sleep at home, neither can I sleep on set. Now tell me Altaf what can I do? The writer won't let me take a break either." Abhi explains.

"Haan!" Mihika agrees. The three of them turn to the camera and plead with hands folded. "Please ma'am hum ko sohne do naa!" before laughing at each other. Abhi leans back with one arm behind Mihika outstretched on the back of the sofa while Vandu has to leave as she is called for her shot. "This is the unfortunate side of being so attractive right Mr ACP?" Mihika teases Abhi who suddenly goes pink. I enquire further but even though he tries to supress her by covering her mouth she blurts it all out for us.

"Oye hoye, isn't he adorable when he's blushing." She croons. "You know a few days ago he got fan mail where this cute fan wrote down all her feelings about such a great looking, adarsh boyfriend. He's so perfect that the ladies just can't get enough and dekho I told you he's -" Mihika points to Abhi who looks away slightly feeling embarassed. But then he clears the throat and looks to me.

"The camera is recording right?" He asks. I nod. "Good, make sure you save that and send me a copy. I can't wait to replay this comment from Miss Mihika about me. Whenever she's not stuffing everyone with food she's up to mischief and won't let me sleep." He tells us. Mihika's mouth drops as she gasps.

"Jhooti kahika! He's one to complain. He complains that he's dieting and I ruin that, but it's not like I force him to go around taking bites when he thinks no one is looking." She replies running her hand through her hair and pushing it back behind her ear.

"Whose the policeman again Mihika?" Abhi asks. "Women I tell you, nothing escapes them. Miss Mihika doesn't even need an occaision, she comes in prepared with so much food you would think it was navratri or diwali or something." Abhi explains.

"But you still eat it." She points out.

"Of course, it's free food. A little salty but -" Abhi stops because Mihika hits him.

"Salty! My food is not salty." She replies shocked while Abhi is laughing. "Look at the cheek, have you seen such a dishonourable policeman? He says it's salty but still eats it anyways." She asks us. We can't help but laugh at seeing the two of them fight. It has definitely been ingrained in us that their chemistry is stronger than a covalent bond. As we prod on about future story development their expression changes.

"Future storyline...erm..." Mihika taps her lips while Abhi looks quite serious. "We can't reveal that can we?" She asks him uncertain. He has a think.

"Since you fans have given us so much love, we have to give you something blastastic back, so that's all I can say," He breaks out into a grin.

"Waah! Kya baat hai. Bohot smart ho ji," Mihika praises Abhishek who places one hand on his chest and bows slightly. "He's managed to give away a spoiler without giving it away. This is why he's a policeman I tell you - other than his looks of course, haye main sadke jawa," She wards of the evil eye from him making him lean his head back on the sofa and burst out laughing.

While the adorable two continue their teasing I look up and our camera notes something very interesting. We see a technician fixing the mike on someone we least expected to be here - Parth! Behind him we also see Panchali running across the set when a director shouts cut! We can only conclude a mahasangram maybe down the line and we are very excited. You have been warned so don't delay and keep an eye out.
