Prathima, II was in a spot with Ritu. I mean, it would hv been really uncomfortable for her to ask Ritu. The tangle with Bala over the hall exactly did not help too. So whatever courage she was mustering to approach Ritu also got watered.

She blundered big time with Ritu.
She has got leave at her disposal and in the longer run, we can look at it as after all just a day of leave but it wouldn't helped matters much between Ritu and II now.
II is not happy with where her needle is at with regards to how her career has shaped up but it still matters enough for her not to chuck it away to either apply for a days leave , or to quit , go to Paris or quit , be a part of Ranjan&co.
Five years down the line, how things will be , no one knows, but today, the uncomfortable fact is she is having to miss her shatabdi's naming ceremony.
In all this hoopla, I'm thinking what will be shatabdi's name. ?
