My brother treated me to pongal and kesari with his first pay.
I am caught in a time warp too. It used to be 7 Rs in 1995 with vadai and filter coffee.

It still think pongal in mylapore mess is delicious though i guess the price has gone up...If folks drive past Hosur ask for Anjaneya vilas and taste their ven pongal and Gotsu served on a Vazhai illai ...truly divine

Chakkarai pongal in Kadambam Bangalore Mysore Highway or Murugan iddli kadai on the Chennai Bangalore Highway are yummy but pricey

(how many times will u ask)

they would just lay back on the pillow and close their eyes readying themselves for the audio treat😳

No, what kind and all! I mean it has to have come from somewhere right? like Kalpana says.

I had a neighbour who was similar. Her duty as a teen used to be to use the grinding stone to get the dosa dough ready every other day. So after school (I was way younger), I used to run off to her house and while I pushed the rice and urad into the grinding hole, she would narrate stories and rotate the stone. She was such an awesome story teller. Just like you said your mom is.

I had no grandma or pa who told me stories. Ma was a quiet one, not the story telling types. Reminding me of good old afternoons after school. 😊
