Even after all these years, the first morning breakfast when I go to Delhi is pongal, vadai and coconut chutney at Amma's, the first breakfast when she lands HERE is the same also
Amma is a stupendous cook, she wakes at 5 AM at 68 years... like the old fashioned Iyers...EVERYDAY, rain or shine... and breakfast is ready at 7... 😲👏

Srividya, I feel like I am the eager light man behind the director Nisha, not wanting to miss any camera or the angles she captures in her shot. I most often see a 70 mm rolling out in front of my eyes.

I am caught in a time warp too. It used to be 7 Rs in 1995 with vadai and filter coffee.

As a 6 year old me and my friends used to join the group of thathas who would be singing Margazhi bhajans on our street in Nanganallur with stop ever at every temple to receive pongal as prasadam...
We would romp hove after feasting on the pongal in Shiva Hayagreeva and Pillayar koil...
I still rate it as my most favourite breakfast item...Pongal it shall be for breakfast tomorrow:)

OMG! Vidya, my Amma narrates many stories of Marghazhi bhajan singing events in the streets of Trichy, she is from Puthur Agraharam... where my Mamas and Thatha would walk singing and at the end of it at the nearby Draupadi Amman Kovil they would be fed pongal, many days in Marghazi the pongal would be made at my Thatha's.

If I didnt live in my middle of nowhere, mountainous foreign land I would live in TRICHY.
I am so much in love with that town😭 Much of it comes from my Amma's stories actually... of growing up, she is a fantastic story teller... not made up stories like I do, but the story of growing up middle class in Trichy, stories of old Tamil movies she watched growing up.

My Athai lived in Rourkela, when her kids would come to our house in Trichy (the first 9 years of my life) they would lay by Amma and beg "Manni PLEASE tell us the story of Konjum Salangai, Miss Mary etc😳 for the HUNDREDTH TIME"😆
