Part 45

Shyam frowned confused at her confidence and his eyes narrowed thoughtfully and he said with a sly voice "Sooo HE is your strength." And then walked away the same way he come, deep in thought. She stood there waiting for that man to clear out of her sight. It bothered her his last words but she decided to think about it later.

Then she slumped on to the swing her body shivering with adrenalin rush, it was not an easy thing to confront your abuser and she knew that the first confrontation was the hardest. Her hands were shivering uncontrollably and so was her body, so she hugged herself, started to take deep breadths and closed her eyes tight and concentrated on bringing her heartrate down and her adrenaline rush to ease.

She felt warm hands take her into an embrace and hold her tight. It didn't startle her she snuggled into the warmth she had been used to this warmth all her life, she knew who it was. It was her jiji, she didn't get worried that her jiji now knew her secret, it actually made her feel tremendously better and much stronger. She snuggled into her embrace a little more and whispered "Sorry I didn't tell you earlier... I didn't want to mar the happiest days in your life with this..."

She felt her jiji sigh and say "Tell me everything now."

Payal listened as Khushi narrated everything, she wanted to kill that ba****d for misbehaving with her sister, she wanted him to rot in hell for betraying such a trusting wife, she wanted to strangle Arnav Bhai for bringing her sister into the same house that the ba****d lived in, but... she frowned... why did ASR want to marry her?? He could have got anybody to marry Khushi but no he used the flimsy excuse that her alliance had been broken once and hence he thought it best to marry her!!... what crap!!.. there was something else going on here between her sister and her brother-in-law. So she decided to test the waters

"Why did Arnav Bhai decided to marry you Khushi?" she noticed how her sister's head shot up with such force, she would have moved her neck ligaments, and hurt was evident in her sister's eyes... "I mean... he could have helped you get married to another guy with his power and influence... it's an easy thing for him..." she watched patiently as her sister's brain sorted through the logic she gave... and she watched her sister become nervous and agitated as the logic settled on her brain... and as usual her sister's big mouth blurted out her inner most feelings just like she usually does when she is agitated "I wouldn't have said yes!!"

Payal smirked in her brain, she was careful though to not show it on her face and said "You wouldn't have said yes Khushi... to marry anyone else??" she watched as her sister grow more and more agitated and said "Why are you asking me jiji ask him... he was the one who made you guys come to our house with the proposal... I just said yes... why are you drilling me!!"

Payal lowered her eyes as she could no longer hide her inner feelings from showing on her face and thought "Exactly baby... I am asking why DID you say yes!!", but she controlled her thoughts and said "I will Khushi... I will ask him why he married you and got you to this house where that man lives too..." Khushi looked up at her shocked and started turning and twisting her pallu carner with her fingers... Payal understood... her baby sister didn't think she would question their relationship... her baby sister did not want anyone to question their relationship...because for her there was nothing to question about, she had committed herself to the relationship mind, heart and soul... Shyam was just an excuse... Her baby sister was in love... and she didn't have a clue.

Payal was worried now, she didn't want Khushi to get hurt, she needed to talk to Arnav Bhai and make sure he knew what he had got himself into. Her sister could stand up to a 100 Shyams but she could be torn to bits by one Arnav. She was startled out of her thoughts when her Khushi had finally managed to find words and had practically screamed in her face "Do whatever you want jiji!!" and left the place in a huff. Payal guffawed behind her sister's back silently as she followed Khushi down the stairs into the living room. Where she noticed Lavanya and NK had joined them for lunch.

Lavanya held her best friend tightly to her, she missed her best friend and their silly chit chats over nothing and everything. Since they both had married in a few days of each other and things were yet to come back to normal in their lives. So she missed their little gossip time together on the phone at night and their lunches at work and their silly shopping sprees. She couldn't wait for things to settle down fast. But right now she wanted the meat... she started dragging her friend right back up the stairs that she had just descended and pulled her all the way back to her room, ignoring her friends protests that she had to help Payal set the table for lunch.

As soon as they were inside she settled herself on the bed and pulled Khushi down beside her and said "Come on!!... out with it!! How was it??" Khushi frowned and said "How was what??" Lavanya rolled her eyes, trust Khushi to forget something SOO important "you know... last night... your first with your husband...that's what!!"

She was stunned as Khushi gasped like she was in a desi soap and said in a similar style "Lavanya!!" Lavanya frowned what was wrong with her..."Khushi you want me to go first... I can... I was just curious about the famous ASR!!... but I can tell you about my first with...NNN" she found Khushi had closed her mouth with her hands. Lavanya's eyes widened. What the heck was wrong with her best friend!!

"Lavanya please... let's leave this for some other day... please let's not talk about it today... here!!" Lavanya narrowed her eyes at her friend and nodded slowly and her friend sighed and removed her hand from over her mouth.

"Okay then let's just ask doubts so we can clear each other's doubts, did he use protection, NK didn't and I am worrie..."

"LAVANYA...!!!!" she was cut short again by her friend, who seemed to be very touchy today... then she looked up to see they were no longer alone, there stood the ever handsome ASR at the door step looking very amused... Khushi she realized didn't know about her husband's arrival yet and was still concentrating on her shooting daggers with her eyes.

Lavanya smiled at ASR over Khushis shoulder letting Khushi know they were no longer alone. Khushi looked back in confusion and when she saw her husband she shot off the bed and her eyes widened in horror and then she caught the amusement on her husband's face and understood he must have heard them. Her face started turning red with embarrassment and she lowered her eyes refusing to look at him. ASR however didn't take his eyes off her, when she lowered her eyes, his eyes rolled down her body slowly, sincerely, lingeringly... lovingly.

"Phew!!" that brought the couple back to earth and both pairs of eyes moved towards the third person in the room who was fanning herself with her hand and said "Did it just get hot in here?? Or is it just me... what do you say ... jijaji???" she questioned ASR looking directly in his eyes with a mischievous smile on her lips, dimples in her cheeks and twinkles in her eyes.

ASR looked right back in her eyes and couldn't control the one sided smirk that formed on his lips. Lavanya quickly got up and made for the room door and ASR moved aside to make way for her to leave and as she left she said "Don't take too long... everyone is hungry." Khushis looked up realizing her friend had left her alone with her husband, she wanted to sprint out of the room. But she held back and begged her heart to calm down so she could update him on the happenings in the house in his absence.

ASR slowly walked inside and settled himself on the recliner and took out his phone and started browsing through to see if any new updates had popped up on his drive home. He saw she hadn't moved an inch for 2 minutes and he looked in her direction and said "Is everything ok?"

She looked at him and nodded yes and said "Shyam tried to talk to me at the poolside..."

That's it ASR saw red and very very bad things flew through his mind and he immediately walked up to her and looked at her closely and said "did he hurt you? Did he try to come near you? Why were you alone?"

Khushi was scared of the look in his eyes he looked mad... she tentatively said "I... I wanted to be alone so ...I ..."

"WHAT THE HELL!! I told you to be with someone all the time... were you even thinking..."he had just burst a blood vessel...

Khushi was shocked nobody... absolutely nobody had yelled at her like that all her life not even her buaji... she was shocked out of her wits... she took two steps away from him and looked at with him, her eyes misting though she didn't want them to, unable to believe he had yelled at her like that and turned on her heel and ran out of the room.

Just as she left she heard a soft "Khushi..." from him, which didn't make her stop but made her leave the place faster as she never wanted him to see how affected she was.

Khushi stopped at the upstairs landing took deep breaths and calmed herself and chanted to herself "He was worried about you... he was worried... he was worried..." "So what if he was worried that's not how you show your concern by yelling your head off. Don't let this go Khushi"... her brain chanted back.

When she felt calmer she walked down the stairs with a determined smile on her face she was going to show him that she was not to be yelled at no matter what. If he was ASR she was KKGSR. She went and helped her jiji and Di finish the final arrangements and she felt his eyes on her, she knew he was coming towards the table for lunch with the rest of the gang. She removed herself from the dining area and walked towards the kitchen in the pretext of getting more dishes out for lunch. She felt his eyes on her till she could no longer be visible to him.

He was frustrated by the time lunch was over and all the younger generation had settled back in the living room. Conversations were flying but his eyes kept darting towards the kitchen waiting for her to come out and join them. He had tried to catch her eye as best as he could during lunch and she had tried her best to avoid looking at him and... she had won. Making him more and more frustrated as he wanted to apologize for yelling at her. He was already very bad at apologizing to anyone and here she was making it even harder for him.

Then she did walk out, followed by Om Prakash with a tray filled with cups in his hands and headed towards them. He realized that she was going to serve dessert and realized she might not even come near him now, he sighed and sat back, he had to wait till they are back in their room.

She served everyone in the room and surprised him by coming near him and offering him a bowl too. He looked up at her face immediately but was disappointed to see she had her eyes lowered to the ground not looking at him. This brought out his ego and he thought "What did she want from him?? to grovel at her feet to look into her eyes!!" and without thinking he said rather sternly "I am diabetic" for which her eyes shot up and were filled with hurt.

He hated himself and wanted to punch himself in his own face, why did he have to hurt her again and again!!... His Di spoke up and said "She knows Chote!!... that's why she made these with sweetener for you!!"

"Shit!! You a**hole.." was his brains first reaction to that and he looked back in her eyes to see that she had lowered them and was now moving away from him and he blew a fuse. Not again!!... He was not going to let her go away again hurt... so as she passed him he gripped her right hand at her wrist so she doesn't go anywhere. He stood up and walked closer to her and she looked up questioning his motive and he didn't break the eye lock he kept looking in her eyes and walking towards her forcing her to move back to maintain a decent distance between them. Two steps later her legs collided with the empty seater and she landed on the seater and he sat down in front of her on his knee not letting her look away from him and not letting go of her hand.

He took the bowl in which she was serving jelabi's from her right hand and held it in front of her and forced her right hand whose wrist was in his control to dip into the bowl. As a reflex she held on to the jelabi in the bowl when her hand touched the jelabis and he immediately pulled her hand out and bent towards her and took a bite from the jelabi not breaking eye contact. He kept his eyes on her as he apologized whole heartedly for his stupidity and thanked her for the favor, for making this delicious dish for him... for thinking of him...

She surprised him by accepting his apology by a slight nod and this thank you with a shy smile. It exhilarated him this way that he could convey his feelings to her without words.

He knew it was something special to be treasured but he didn't want to analyze it now, he just wanted to enjoy this amazing delicacy she had made for him and in his over enthusiasm as he took a bite his lips encircled her fingers and his teeth nipped at her index finger. Blood rushed, his nerves tugged, his instincts as a man made his aware of her as a woman all in a split second, sending him into shock as to how such a tiny thing can have such an effect on him.

She pulled her hand back too in shock making him realize she had felt something too. Before he could catch what her reaction was, whether it was fear or something else, somebody cleared their throat bring them both back to earth. "S**t!!" was his brains reaction again, he had forgotten they had an audience... he didn't get up from in front of her he knew if he did she would be more embarrassed. So he held his ground and said "What Di?" slowly and menacingly and turned to look at his Di.

His Di had no idea what to reply but he had overlooked the extended audience in the room, he knew how to handle his Di... he had no idea how to handle Lavanya who said "Jeejaji... what was that!!... if you are going to romance her like that in public... I can't even imagine what you are doing with her in private!!... phew... that was something!!"

This made ASR jerk away and stand up and Khushi to stand up and hurriedly move towards the kitchen. He looked at her going away from him yet again and turned to Lavanya and said loudly and clearly "What I DO with her in private is none of your business..." and as a reaction he heard things falling and breaking in the kitchen.

To which all the girls burst out in giggles. ASR shook his head at them and headed for the stairs to his room, he would wait for her there, where he could be alone with her.

I am happy that Payal came to know about the truth so that she can be with Khushi when Arnav is at work. I loved the way Payal questioned Khushi about Arnav and I hope she acts as a catalyst on bringing Arnav and Khushi more close.

I can't wait for Payal ASR conversation . But Keerthi, please tell me , will Arnav break Khushi's heart because of his broken past and lost trust in the institution of love and marriage. I so love this teasing La , but wish she will know Shyam's truth too. Will Shyam try to physically hurt Arnav ?

I really realy love this story. its so matured. I mean what I hate most in a story is when someone sacrifices and leaves the other person thinking that he/she is protecting the other one. and also not telling and sharing the problem thinking of protecting the other party. How lame is that. it doesn't happen like that in real life. This story is nothing like thast. everyone is handling the situation very maturedly and sharing and telling each other the problem. What I mean to say is this story is so realistic and can happen to anyone. we can relate to it.
