Summer job possibilities''decisions, decisions.

Work at Hart's Diner

Pros: Weekly paycheck; Prithvi, my new boyfriend works there too; chance to kiss in between breaks?

Cons: Aching feet; aching jaw from continually smiling to get better tips; living at home while Mom and older sister, Mishti, go through the insanity of planning Mishti's wedding. They can't agree on anything! Mom? Hello?!? Mishti is twenty-three, old enough to plan her own wedding.)

Work at Amusement park near lake, far, far away

Pros: weekly paycheck; get on all the rides for free; gone all summer; dorms are available; being totally absent from home while mom and Mishti fight it out'

Cons: Share a dorm with someone I have NEVER met; never seeing Prithvi; and ok I have roller coaster issues, like im petrified of them'

Decision: No brainer -living with a stranger has to be way better than living with mom and Mishti while 'The Wedding' is being planned. Plus, its only three months- true love can survive that cant it?

And that's how I, Kripa Sharma, a life-in-the-slow-lane, carousel ride type of a girl packed up the essentials of my life following my junior year in high school, and headed to the Thrill Ride! Amusement Park, vacation destination extraordinaire on Lake Erie.

That afternoon Id flown into the airport. With my backpack dangling off one shoulder, I pulled my large wheeled suitcase to the passenger pickup area outside the main terminal. An impossible to miss bright read Thrill Ride! Shuttle bus was parked nearby, motor running.

So I headed over to it and peered in the door. 'Going to Thrill Ride! Hon?' asked the driver. I smiled and nodded. He took my bag, put it in the compartment, and motioned for me to go in. He wore a red shirt, cargo shorts, and a nametag that read 'Pete (SANTA FE, NM).'

'Wow that's far away'' Not only was I a slow, good two shoes kind of a girl, i had also, never traveled outside of Texas since I was 3. I signed and headed for the back of the bus.

A few more girls came in; they smiled at me, and then started talking animatedly to each other like they were long lost friends. I soon realized that they were. I looked out the window, feeling alone and ignored- and I so did not want to be lonely.

I was already missing Prithvi. We'd only been dating for three months, and he was totally bummed that I had applied for the job at the theme park, and even more bummed that I'd got hired to work there for the entire summer.

'That sucks' he had said, when I told him. Not exactly what I wanted him to say. I wanted him to be ecstatic for me, that Id got the job. I mean, it took a lot'I had to fill out an extensive application and submit a essay about the reasons I had wanted to work there. And I had gotten in, just under the wire. My birthday was yesterday, and I turned 17- the age you had to be to get a job here.

Plus, I knew our relationship could survive'I mean, tons of people had successful long distance relationships''..right?

After I had been checked into my dorm, by a girl with blonde hair and the nametag 'Mary (Baltimore, MD), I walked into my room'. correction my roommate's and my room. Except, currently it seemed like she owned everything'her clothes were thrown all over the place, except for the bed on the right, which I guess meant that it was mine. I walked in completely and the door shut with a loud thud. I grimaced, wishing that I hadn't disturbed anyone else in the suite.

I walked to my bed and put my backpack on it. There were two desks- one for me and the other for my roomie. Hers had a full computer system- printer, scanner, fax machine, flat screen monitor, wireless (and very expensive looking, I would like to add!) keyboard and mouse; and the actual computer. Next to it, she had her iPod docking system which looked equally expensive. She had a television with a DVD player; plus a phone with caller ID. Wow'I guess I was rooming with little miss spoiled.

Jus then the phone rang. It couldn't be my cell'it had a different ring. And it couldn't be my phone in the dorm- I didn't even know the number. I realized that it was the phone sitting on my roommate's desk. I sighed and picked it up.

'Hello?'

'Hi! Is this Alliyah's room?'

'No, this is her roommate'. I don't know what possessed me to toss out a smart comment, but the guy laughed.

'Pretty funny! Is she there?'

'Nope'

'Can I leave a message?'

'Sure'

'Just tell her 'Cole loves ya'.'

'Um ok'

'Thanks'

He hung up. I reached, grabbed my descion maker from my backpack. Compared to modern technology; my descion maker was pretty old fashioned- a spiral notebook. I tore out a piece of a paper and wrote 'Cole called'. No way was I going to give a personal message of love. I folded the paper in half and tucked it under her iPod dock.

Obviously my roommate had a boyfriend. This made me think about Prithvi. He was the best. We had so much in common- music, subjects, and movies. It's like we never disagreed- well atlease not about most stuff. One night we went with a group of friends to a movie, and well the movie was really bad. So he just leaned over and said 'this sucks'. I had turned to him and nodded. Our faces were so close that I could feel his warm breath on me. I don't if I kissed him, or if he kissed me, but we kissed nevertheless; and ever since then we have been going out. We could keep our relationship- I mean, there was email, IMing, and phone. No sweat.

I was just reaching over to call him, when my roomie's phone rang once again. I almost let it ring, but I didn't have the willpower to deny the siren's ring. I picked it up wearily.

'Hello?'

Silence. Great.

'Helllloooo?'

'Sorry. Are you Alliyah's roommate?'

Ok I was starting to hate my roommate. Another guy? And this one'.oh my gosh, he had a voice like Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, and Colin Farrell all rolled into one. It just sent a shiver of pleasure through me. I had never reacted this way to someone's voice- not even Prithvi's. But this one- deep, smooth, just a little'.

'You still there?' he asked.

I was totally embarrassed. I swallowed and cleared my throat. 'Um yeah' I was just watching the boat's on the lake'.

Yeah right Kripa. Smart one! I smacked my head with my hand. 'She's not there'can I give her a message?'

'Has anyone told you that you have a totally sexy voice?' he asked.

I held the phone away from my ears and stared at it. What?! Prithvi said I sounded like a smoking hyena once. Not all that flattering.

'Do you want to leave a message?' I asked impatiently.

'What's your name?'

'My name?'

'Ya I bet its as awesome as you voice.'

OMG! He didn't even see me, and he was flirting with me'.what a player!

'Hardly.' I replied.

'Let me be the judge. '

'Umm no thanx'.

'Millicent?'

'No.'

'Bambi?' he asked with laughter in his voice.

'Um no.'

'C'mon! I bet it's not as embarrassing as mine.'

'Why? What's yours?'

'I thought you'd never ask! Im Angad.'

I scowled. His name wasn't bad at all. He had tricked me into expressing interest in him.

'So can I tell her Angad called?' I asked.

'Who's going to tell her?' I swear I could hear him smile on the other side. I relented.

'Kripa'.

'I like it.' He said.

'My mom would be thrilled to have your seal of approval' I said in a bored voice-even though I was anything but bored.

He laughed and I got chills down my back, making my toes curl. This was so strange'I never reacted to anyone's laughter like that. I didn't like the feeling I was having- no actually I did- I loved it. I just didn't like the fact that I was feeling it for guy other than Prithvi.

'Look I gotta go. Im busy.'

'Watching boats?' he asked.

'No unpacking'

'We could watch them together' he said.

WHAT!?!

'Umm look I gotta go. Ill tell Alliyah you called.' I said quickly and hung up.

This will be a really interesting summer.

That's it! I hope you all enjoyed it. Now I made it a bit different than I had planned- now it's based on a book (forgot the title) by Rachel Hawthorne (one of my fav writers). It was also 5 and a half pages in word (double spaced). I don't write these long parts usually so this is a treat (for all the awesome comments!) So if you all want more parts please comment (esp. my silent readers!). Also, if the top parts not clear, please tell me. I don't know if you all can read the font- I made it this font so it seemed like a person was actually writing it in her notebook. Hope you all liked it! I know I loved writing it. It took me a bit long but I hope it was worth it. I will cont Road Trip and 7G and 1G later; when I have time. Thank you all!
