This story has become one of my mosttt fav till now and for new ones I can say this is the most fav one... u r writing it so beautifully... loved it alot... when Khushi and Arnav first met at the track god I so loved the whole chapter... brilliant and then how she avoided him coz she knew who he was and feared the worst which did come at temple... omg I so hate Arnav's mother and Akash he is so wasted in wine and all.. what happened to him coz when he came to meet Khushi it felt like he has came alive and I loved La's and Akash's encounter.. How he first thought her to be Khushi but she wasn't. Haven't read the new chapter but just wanted to let u know that I am very much interested and loving the story and I will comment on each chapter from now on

A Note about Sheetal and Shreya

I originally wrote chapter - 7 with Sheetal as one of the characters and have now changed the name to Shreya.

The reason being Sheetal comes with too many preconceived negative connotations. To me, a character should be judged on the merits of his/her behaviour. However, I do understand that here in IPK world it doesn't work like that. Here, Arnav is super human / God, Khushi is an angel, Lavanya is the other woman, etc etc etc.

So, I got worried. Hence the name change from Sheetal to Shreya.

Sorry for the confusion.

Side note - I am amazed at what all Arnav is forgiven in IPK world - rape, adultery, marital abuse, lack of morals etc etc. Would we be as generous in understanding our boyfriends and husbands if they committed the same acts? I am guessing you wouldn't because I wouldn't. I don't mean to offend anyone with this comment. Since I joined IF, I have had issue with so called dark FF's where rape is shown as a misunderstanding. And today I decided to express my stance against it.

Sandhya, I think this concept of being super lenient towards the protagonist seems to exist not only in IPK world but also in all mediums of ficton.

Even in our movies, all the atrocities of the protagonist are veiled under the name of heroism.

He stalks the girl and bullies her into loving him. And that is supposed to be cute and full of love.

He treats his friends as his subordinates. And that is supposed to be funny.

He talks to his family and the girl's family or anyone for that matter like he doesn't give care without even an ounce of respect. And that is supposed to be macho and heroic.

I don't know how being a protagonist or the word hero makes him all super humanly and above all and everything who can get away with doing anything.

With March break and a rash if flu infected people in my house in the past week and a half, I did not get a chance to comment. I like Akash, love his easy going character and can see how someone can so easily take advantage of him. I am a bit confused though about Payal's action as I thought she was from a rich background as well. What would prompt her to take such an action against her husband? Just out of spite for him not moving to the city? He made his position very clear before the marriage. Was it the parents trying to ensure that the daughter was not to be blamed and hence can be married again? Whichever it is, it is pretty sad to see this outcome especially since it was a 'love marriage' not an arranged one. The impact on Akash and his family was very severe and I wonder if the Payals of the world tnk about this before acting. I am seriously disappointed in the way an educated person misused this law. I can see hope for Akash however especially with Kushi's return and Lavanya being in the picture. Did I tell your how much I love golfing and a golfer Arnav is oh so hot. Mountain biking, golfing, what is next rock climbing and bungee jumping? I do forgive him for his outburst at her house because he reacted in a human way after everything his family went through and all the lies his mother fed him. I forgive him because after having cool down, he has realized his mistake and apologized, I wonder if it would have been different had Kushi told him who she was when they first met. The sons are well aware of Arti's difficult personalities and were quick in helping Kushi escape her wrath this time around. This woman has no filter and for an upperclass woman, she clearly has no decency in airing her private laundry in public. Glad the kids turns out ok with a mother like that. What I really love and what was my Rabba ve moment in this chapter were the last words he spoke: I am Arnav. I love that.
I saw the discussions on the law on the thread. I will come back to that in another post as I am very curious about it.

B, you would be amazed at the cross section of people who misuse 498A and the reasons for misusing them can range from forced marriages by parents to the inability to comprehend the meaning of constructive compromise needed for a married life to making a quick buck while getting out of a marriage. As for being being rich, yes, she is but when have the rich ever thought - I have enough money and I don't need more. Pettiness and revenge and greed are major motivators during a divorce.

About love and arranged (not forced) marriages ...an on going discussion . But all I can say is when the couple is getting divorced, it is not love or arranged marraige that defines them but a failed marriage.

This was such a feel good update. I am just smiling. You conveyed a sense of hope, a belief in rejuvenation and that life does allow for people to get second chances and in the innate goodness of most people that allows them to forgive and forget and do the right thing. Phew...I know...its 4:45 am in the morning and I have major insomnia...,and I just read this longest update ever and got all of that out of it.😆

Akash reaching out to Khushi has had a domino effect in that it has been a healing of sorts for both of them to rekindle their friendship and helped them both fight their demons and emerge from their closed off state. Loved how Khushi is now allowing her true self to emerge and enjoying life even as she tries to Atone to Anju by completing her bucket list.

Akash too is now allowing Khushi's friendship to let him open up and share his sorrows. She, as a true friend is matchmaking already.

Arnav too is getting beyond his initial biases and now apologizing to Khushi, saving her from Aarti and making a move towards atonement of his past behaviors.

The scene at the club where the two brothers run their play to keep Aarti and Khushi from meeting was really funny and so needed after the part about Aakash and Payal's failed marriage history, which was an eye opener for me in terms of unintended consequences of a law designed to protect that is used to bully and blackmail.

All I can say is thank god they had no kids! Can you imagine the impact on children from such a messy divorce? It is rather sad when exes battle so bitterly at the end of their union. What were they thinking about when they got married? I don't want to dissect their marriage but it just blows me away when people don't understand that after marriage, there are 2 people in the married life and hence compromises have to be reached, we need to find the half way. Setting proper expectations instead of assuming the other person will be bending to one's whim will go a long way in finding the half way. Somehow we expect the glow of love to overcome all problems instead of understanding that a relationship needs to be worked on constantly as we go through various stages of life: being friends, lovers, a married couple, becoming a family and parents, etc . . . I am not saying that divorce is not an option but surely if there was love at some point, a better settlement between involved parties can be accomplished. Maybe I am being too naive here.

As far as 498, I am not familiar with it but I get that the people it was meant to protect are abusing it. i am not from India so this was the first time I heard of it. The likes of the Payals of the world have completely made a mockery of the victims who really need the protection that this law provides. Their actions push back any gains that women accomplish to protect themselves in a male centric society. These victims will not be believed when seeking protection of the law while the Payals of the world would be getting everything to satisfy their pettiness and greed.
