Chapter 10
"Have to admit cadet, you really did pay close attention in Raj's class. At lease more than my class." Capt. Abhimanyu teased and the entire room, once again, laughed as I blushed.
"Looks like the time has come for me to rise from the dead" Rajveer sir said and winked at me.
A day has passed scene we found out that stupid, idiotic, self-fish, self-centered Lala was Eagle. Just thinking about people like Lala makes my blood boil. I knew Lala was dangerous, and could do anything to get what he wanted, but I could have never guessed he would drop this low. How can anyone turn their back on their own land? On the land that gave them life, and happiness. How could he promise, in front of an entire country, to protect that country's defense, but take advantage of the loopholes in the country's defense?
Anyways, right now all the cadets, including me, are standing at the main hall. We got a message a few minutes ago, telling us to report to the main hall as Maj. Nair had some important announcement. We have been standing here for about 5 mins, but as usual Maj. Nair is late, so all the cadets are talking to each other. Everyone except me as I am too busy thinking about Lala and his dark deeds.
"Attention Cadets" came the deep voice of Suriji. Immediately all faculty and cadets stopped talking and turned to the front. Major Nair came forward and stood behind the podium,
"At ease. Cadets it has come to my attention that all you are worried by the announcement made by defense minister Lala Gehlot. I believe that he is a good minister who wants nothing but good for our country, but responsibility of this academy and the responsibility of our academic performance is in my hands. I think that this announcement as shaken this academy as the Cadets are not performing well, therefore I have convinced Minister Gehlot to come to the academy itself to check the academy. He said that if he is impressed with all Cadets' performance than he will not close KMA. Minister Gehlot will be arriving tomorrow evening and staying for about 2 weeks. I want all of you to perform well. Any questions?" Maj Nair said leaving everyone in the room thinking "One more chance", except me, because I was thinking about something else. I raised my hands.
"Yes Cadet Singh" Maj. Nair said, looking irritated, which brought a smile to my face.
"Sir I have a question"
"I gathered that from your raised hand" He shot back with such hateful voice, that half of the hall flinched.
"Sir, I was wondering if we could throw a small arty for Gehlot sir." I said
"Cadet when I told you to impress him, I didn't mean for you to butter hum" Maj. Nair said with surprise in his voice.
"Sir we are going to have to work hard for the next week or two, so this will also be a way for us to relax as well."
"Sir let them." Abhimanyu sir said from behind Maj. Nair, but he was giving me a look that said Cadet you better know what you are saying'
"Sir. I think it is a good idea" Dr. Shalini's voice said, but her tone was saying Why am I supporting this'
"This better not come in the way of your training" Maj. Nair said defeated and left.
"Cadet you better have a good reason for doing this" Abhimanyu sir said.
We are in Capt. Abhimanyu's cabin planning for the party'. I somehow convinced Maj. Nair to give the responsibility to the six of us.
"Sir Victim is coming to us, without having to do anything. I thought we should not let this opportunity go." I said with confidence.
"Can you clearly, Naina" Ali asked, confused.
"Scene we were planning on bring Lala to KMA next week, I thought we could move our plan one week forward." I said
"Are you crazy cadet? Planning is done with patience. It is not something you jump to, because there is an opportunity. It is not how it is done. So many things can go wrong. The plan is still not full proof, it still has loop holes." Captain Abhimanyu scolded me.
"Abhimanyu sir, I just thought that scene he is already coming here" I said surprised at his reaction.
"Cadet, I get your emotion, but even I have to agree with Capt. Abhimanyu. This was not a right decision, but what is done is done. I am going to call up Capt. Rajveer and tell him the plan is going to action tomorrow." Dr. Shalini said. I gave a small smile.
"Do you mind if I call him instead?" I questioned. That gave me a suspicion glance from everyone and I ducked my eyes to avoid any embarrassment.
"Naina, go" Alekh said patting my shoulder. I immediately got up and went toward the mess to make the call.
Pooja and I walked into our room after dinner. Tired from the training of the entire day, I crashed on my bed.
"Naina can I ask you question?" Pooja asked
"Pooja why the formalities. Of course you can ask anything" I said
"Is there something going on between you and shahrukh" Pooja question. Listening to her I shot up from the bed, and threw a pillow at her.
"What, What are you saying?" I said as I fought the blush climbing up to my cheeks.
"I mean that yesterday, Shahrukh asked you to stay behind, after you told him the plan. So anything happen?" She asked, with a twinkle of wonder in her eyes.
"No, nothing happened. He, he ju-st congratulated me." I shuddered.
"Naina it is ok, if you don't want to tell. Just don't lie" Pooja said winking at me.
"I am not lying" I lied
"Oh just Shut Up Naina. You are saying one thing and your eyes and the blush on your cheeks are saying another."
"Pooji, stop irritating me and let me sleep." I said as I pulled my blanket over my face and blushed myself to sleep.
The next day, after the first few classes, we went to the main hall.
"Alekh, Ali how are the food preparation?" I asked
"We have order the food. It should get here by 5." Huda said
"Good. Pooja and I are doing the decorations so, Yudi and Huda what about music." I said
"Don't work Phoolan.I have my best party song playlist ready" Huda answered
"Guys this is really important. Nothing should go wrong." I said
"Don't worry Naina. Nothing will go wrong" Alkeh said and I gave him a small nod.
"All that is fine, but what about the theme" Pooja said
"I have the theme ready. Masquerade. This will help hide Rajveer sir till we are ready to show his face." I said.
"Ok than let's get decorating." Pooja said and we started decorating.
"Cadets good job" Maj. Nair said.
We all turned around to see Maj. Nair standing behind us.
"Thank you sir. We really are trying to make this party very special for Minister Gehlot." I said sweetly.
"Cadet Singh, can I talk you." He questioned. I put the plate of confetti on the side and walked behind him.
"Cadet, let me tell you whatever you are planning will not work" He said
"Who will stop me, you?" I challenged.
"If I have to." He said
"I just have one question. How will you stop me when you don't even know what I am planning" I said with a smile. That shut him up. "I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU. You know what I will give you a hint. YOU MIGHT WANT TO CALL UP THAT BOSS OF YOURS AND TELL HIM TO GET THE BIGGEST SHOCK OF HIS LIFE." I said and left.
"Ok guys. This looks great. Let go and get ready." I said and all of us walked back to our room.
I had picked out a black high bateau neckline open backed full length dress, with silver jewels, silver hills and black lace mask. I know this is not me. This whole costume is so bold, that I am scared, but I have promised myself that this will be the most shocking night in Lala Gehlot's life. I am not going to lie. It took me a couple of hours to get ready.
I finally exited my room and walked toward the hall where the party was held. When I was about to reach the hall someone pulled me by my arms and my back hit a wall. I closed my eyes of fear, when I felt someone removing my mask.
"You look so beautiful today, Cadet Naina ah' Singh." The man's voice said against my cheeks as he brushed his lips against my cheeks. My heart speed up just by one touch. He looked deep into my eyes. I slowly raised my hand and removed the mask from that man's face. I instantly drowned in the deep brown eyes of the man I love...Capt. Rajveer.
"You don't look bad yourself Capt." I said and smiled. He was about to say something, but I heard some footsteps, so I pushed him away and ran toward the hall with the part.
The party was held in the same hall as the fresher's ball. By the time I entered the part, it was already on full swing.
"Naina. Thank god you are here. Go and make the announcement." Huda said as soon as I entered. I walked toward where the mike was kept. "Phoolan" Huda said from behind me. I turned back and gave him questioning look.
"You look really beautiful." He said. I gave him a smile and walked to the mike.
"Can I have everyone's attention?" I said and the music turned. "Ladies and gentleman, put your hands together for our country's defense minister. The person who does everything for himself...as making this country safe makes him happy. Please welcome Mister Lala Gehlot. "I announced with a sweet smile. Lala walked up to the middle of the room and I gave him the mike.
"This is a very warm welcome. But let me tell you this will not be enough. I have eyes like Eagle, so I will be keeping a watchful eye on all the faculty and cadets. Thank you." He said and handed me the mike.
"Now for the second announcement of the day I will like to call on stage my friends, Huda, Ali, Alekh, Yudi and Pooja as well as Abhimanyu sir and Shalini ma'am." I said. One by one all of them came and stood next to me.
"This news will give everyone a shock of a lifetime, especially our respected Minister." Abhimanyu sir said. I could see Maj. Nair glaring at me.
"So without wasting any time please welcome our dear Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat" I announced causing the whole room to gasp. The spotlight fell on a man on the back wearing a white suit and looking very dashing. He slowly removed his mask and the whole room was a chaos as soon as the face was shown. People were whispering to each other, while a few even walked up to him and touched him. He walked up to us and I handed him the mike.
"It is so good to be back." He announced into the mike, while everyone just watched in awe. While everyone was looking at Capt. Rajveer, I was staring dead at Lala's face which was filled with shock, horror and the best of all confusion. He looked like a tiger in a cage, powerful, yet powerless.
"If you are wondering how I am still alive, than the credit goes to there 8. Without them I would have been long dead, like you all thought. I fortunately survived the accident, but went into coma. These people cared and nurtured me day and night. I own my life to them." He said. The hall, unsure of what to do, slowly clapped. Rajveer sir walked up to Lala and touched his feel. "Please enjoy the party." I said and we all walked around.
"Good job Naina" Abhimanyu sir said
"Thank you. Did you see Lala's face?" I said and a smile cover my face as I remember Lala's reaction.
"Naina. Don't get over confident. Go and finish the second part of the plan." Ali said and I walked to where Lala and Rajveer sir were talking.
"Sir" I said from behind him
"Yes Cadet?" He asked. God I have to admit he is a good actor.
"Can you talk to you? Privately." I said. We walked to a far corner of the room. I could feel Lala's and Nair's eyes on me.
We talked for a few minutes about nothing. I than gave him a thumps up.
"ARE YOU CRAZY CADET" Rajveer sir screamed.
"Sir please, listen to me" I said, or rather begged.
"No cadet. You know HOW it feel when someone call your loved one traitor. You know how important Lala sir is for me. So how could you." By this time all the eyes in the room were facing us.
"I am telling the truth. I DIDN'T TAKE YOU TO BE SUCH An EMOTIONAL FOOL. IF HE ISN'T A TRAITOR AND TRULY CARES FOR THIS COUNTRY LIKE YOU SAID THAN WHY IS HE CLOSING THE BEST ACADEMIES OF INDIA." I screamed back. Rajveer sir walked across the room, pushing people, until he reached Lala.
"Tell them. Tell them you will not close this academy" Rajveer sir said and I inwardly smiled at the victory but I said "He will not do such promise as his money is more important to him than this county of your happiness"
"Sir you know how much this academy means to me. This is one of the best military academy of India. If you close it down than you will become under pressure as you are in charge of this country's defense. Please sir, if you truly care about me, tell me you will not close this academy." Rajveer sir stated.
"Common Sir" Huda screamed. Soon the entire hall was cheering for Lala to give an answer. Under pressure Lala said I am not closing down KMA."
"You heard that cadet. He is not close KMA. You still think he is evil." Rajveer sir questioned.
"I do." I said smoothly.
"Good Cadet you are so bias. Do you have any proof against Lala sir?"
"You are not believing me. You...You are asking me for a proof." I said emotionally, shredding a tear or two. "I will give you proof. Just wait and watch" I said and I stomped out of the room.

So So So So sorry. I know I said I will post yesterday, but to those who didn't get my PM, I didn't realize it was my friend's birthday, so I was pretty much busy the entire day.
