Amazing update

Tom looked around. He was looking for Harry. He had to talk to him. As he looked for him, he found him standing in a far corner with Ginny and two other people who had their backs to him. He didn't care if he would have to pull Harry out of an important conversation, all he cared about was the fact that Harry needed to know that he was losing it.

In his hurry to get to Harry Tom ran into someone. He had half expected the man he had run into to fall but felt quite surprised when he himself nearly fell off his feet. The man's shoulder had run pretty hard into his chest. He had retreated several paces due to the thrust. When he finally looked up he found someone he hadn't been expecting here. Now he knew why he was the weaker of the two of them. Now he also knew he hadn't run into the man accidentally, he had pushed him on purpose.

"I am sorry. I didn't see." Tom muttered quietly, looked down and started walking away when Bill caught him, grabbing the front of his robes and advancing on his threateningly. Tom retreated automatically but Bill wouldn't let go of him.

"You dare push me!"

Tom gulped down, he looked around. Eyes were turning towards them. Among those people he cared about stared back. The rest of the Army that had apparently arrived when he had been held back by Seth and Malcolm stood smirking at him. It was utterly foolish of them to bring Bill over. Where the hell was Harry? Tom couldn't answer Bill's atrocity in the same manner given the presence of Dutchmen, Alex and others he would give anything to protect from the messes of his own life.

"I said," Tom pulled his hands off him with as much force as he could use. "I am sorry." He stepped away from him, creating the distance he desperately needed right now. "I didn't see you." He spoke firmly and before Bill who looked out for blood could stop him again rushed away to where Harry stood.

"We have a problem." Tom started the moment he reached Harry. "Bill's here."

"What?!" Before Harry could say anything the girl standing with Harry and Ginny both exclaimed together. That was when Tom saw the couple standing there. It was Victoire, Bill's daughter and her husband Ted, Harry's Godson.

Both Ginny and Victoire ran to him but as Ted began to follow Harry stopped him. "I'll take care of it." He knew Bill wouldn't listen to anyone. Harry was probably the only one to convince him to leave.

"Harry." Tom stopped Harry as he made to leave. He turned away from Ted for a moment and pulled up his sleeve for Harry to see. "We need to hurry." He nearly whispered to him but Harry understood. Tom had been right, Harry had known all along that he hadn't healed himself or he had figured it out but now he knew he had. This was going to become much worse if Tom lost it in the presence of Bill who seemed even more aggravated than him.

As Harry nodded and walked away Tom turned to Ted. It was after a moment that he realized Ted had been staring at him intently. It took him a moment to speak. Standing here with him today had brought back memories for Tom that he hadn't really been expecting right now but he had literally forgotten that he would also be seeing Ted at Harry's place.

"Long time, no see..." Before Tom could say anything, Ted stretched out his hand. Tom took it. "I hardly recognized you in those." He said staring at his robes.

"Ginny gifted it to me. It's in the spirit of my birthday party... otherwise you know I don't enjoy the traditional outfits much." Tom replied as calmly as he could.

Ted stared at him. Why had Ginny gifted him these elegant robes? And why was this his birthday party? He had come here to wish Harry, now he knew it wasn't only his birthday that was being celebrated. He hadn't even remembered that Tom's birthday was on the same date. Ted made a mental note to ask Harry when he saw him about why he was being kind to someone he hardly knew. "Of course, I do. But I don't think you even remember me." Ted replied sounding a bit resentful. "You even missed out my wedding and that was a year ago." He complained to him.

Tom had received the invitation of course but he hadn't attended it. He wasn't yet ready to reveal himself to Harry Potter but he hadn't expected Ted to feel offended by his absence. True, they had been sort of friends at Hogwarts but they hadn't been close enough to impose obligations on each other or express resentfulness on non-fulfillment of those obligations. Nevertheless, Tom replied. "Yeah, you remember Duds couldn't come right? And I didn't want to leave him alone, so I never showed either and then, Neville and Hannah..."

"Oh yes, but I didn't even see you at their funeral... In fact, I was hoping to catch you at Mayweather's funeral too but you weren't there either."

Tom stared at him. He hadn't been expecting that Ted would have missed him. He and Ted had been good friends until their fifth year when Tom achieved Outstanding results in his O.W.Ls. Ted sort of grew distant from him as their classmates and teachers truly began to recognize them. Achieving great grades in O.W.Ls stood you out pretty well. Tom noticed that Ted's competitiveness had also increased towards him. He remembered how Ted argued with him on every point, how he used to compete for every small prize, how he would become a sudden rival. It made Tom feel like they had never been friends. He had seen a glint of jealousy in Ted's eyes that he had never been able to comprehend. He had then decided to keep his distance, so he had never been very close to him since. And here they stood with Ted complaining about not being in touch. He hadn't been expecting that.

"Yeah... things changed so suddenly, I never had the chance to gather myself...I couldn't make it anywhere..."

"Oh yeah... I heard, Dutchmen appointed you the Deputy Head of Hogwarts, didn't he?"

"Yeah..." Tom replied boring into his eyes and seeing the spark that had the power to pierce his heart.

"How come? I mean, you were the librarian... how did he suddenly decide to take you on board as faculty and that too not just any faculty but the Deputy Head of Hogwarts?" he asked him fishing for something that he may have missed. He had also noticed how Harry had responded to him immediately. Why did Tom have so much influence on people?

Tom sighed. Ted would always be competing with him but he neither had the time nor the energy to get through this now. He had to move on. "It's a long story but I think its Dutchmen's faith that has allowed him to hand over the responsibility of the young Witches and Wizards at Hogwarts to me."

"But faith can take you only so far, you need skills and caliber to beat the best and to become one." He replied proudly. "Like you can see my progress for example. I started out at the Ministry as an intern, but look at me now, I am a qualified Auror earning a decent income for my family. I am very well know among the higher ranks at the Ministry. Of course, being Harry Potter's Godson has its own benefits but my own skills have been very prominent as well. I didn't have head start of a year like you, which by the way you completely wasted by cancelling your internship form, but I didn't I worked my way through to the top and now I know very influential people, take for example them." Ted pointed in the crowd. Tom turned to look feeling very uncomfortable now. He didn't need to be reminded every second that he had destroyed any chance that he had of becoming an Auror when he had decided to stay at Hogwarts. Ted's words were now beginning to hurt him. He hadn't noticed who he was pointing to until Tom heard him say their names. "Micheal Corner and Terry Boot. Micheal Corner works right under the head of the Wizengamot Richardo Latnok while Terry Boot has an entire country handed to him to ensure it safety and security. Come I'll introduce you to them." Ted said proudly but Tom didn't move. He didn't need to create anymore chaos than what this party had already witnessed.

"There's no need. I know them already."

"How do you know them?" Ted asked taken aback. Tom didn't have enough resources or relatives to introduce him to such people.

"Harry introduced me to them." Tom answered not realizing what this could lead to.

"Harry? Why did Harry--_?" Ted started but stopped short. He had just realized something. All of Bill, Micheal and Terry were in the Dumbledore's Army. Had Harry recruited Tom? "You're a part of the Army."

Although, it was not a question, Tom nodded to clear any doubts that Ted had in his mind.

"Why did Harry recruit you? You're not even an Auror?"

Tom felt like he had been insulted. "That is a question that you should ask Harry. All I know is that he needed me and so he inducted me."

"But if you're a part of them, why hadn't any of them been polite to you? Why is Bill so outrageous at you?"

Now Tom's head was hurting. Ted was asking questions that were scratching the surface of the facts that Harry had not yet revealed to him. "They're angry at me for something that happened a few months back. That's all that I can explain if you want to know anything else you should talk to Harry."

"Yeah, I will." And without another word Ted walked away from him. He seemed to be offended at him for what he couldn't tell.

Am I allowed to say I hate nosy parkers like Ted? Seth and Malcolm were always bullies. So I kind of expected that. I feel so bad for Tom. I hope things turn out better for him soon
