Chapter 1

Teachers' Trouble

The Hogwarts' Castle, usually filled with millions of witches and wizards from all over the country was currently completely deserted, except for four people. The Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry Potter (Order of Merlin first class, winner of award for the best wizard of the century, defeated the Dark Lord in a duel at Hogwarts' Castle.), the deputy head, Tom Riddle, the school caretaker Dudley Dursley and the Care of Magical Creatures teacher and the keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts, Porch. Hogwarts' teachers usually stayed at school during holidays because the summer holidays were the best time to manage the school affairs. Some who wanted to take holidays did.

Harry woke up on a fine day. It was the first week of July. It was going to be a busy day today for him and Tom. They had to find teachers for various posts. All the old ones were retiring. For one Estella couldn't take two classes forever so, they needed someone to teach Runes as she was rather good at Transfiguration. Then, Madam Hooch had decided to retire. Professor Trelawney wanted to retire too and Harry couldn't blame her. She could hardly look into her own plate to be looking into the orb. Firenze wanted to go back to his herd as well. And Ginny had to leave too. They had decided she would stay at home so she could keep looking out for them all. That left them to find teachers for Ancient Runes, Flying lessons and a Quidditch coach, Divination, Astronomy and Charms.

"Enter."

"Good Morning, Harry." Tom entered in his usual white shirt and blue jeans. As he entered he smiled slightly and sat down beside Harry without meeting his eyes.

"Good Morning, have a seat." Harry conjured up a seat beside his own. As Tom sat down beside him he realized he wasn't smiling very brightly.

"You, alright?" Harry asked.

"Yeah." Tom replied almost as if he was prepared for Harry's question.

It was 7 in the morning and applicants were to arrive from today. Harry had decided to involve Tom in the selection of teachers. The two of them would be able to judge better. Today they would be taking applicants for Ancient Runes and Charms. All the applicants were to wait in the Great Hall and then Dudley would escort them to Harry's office turn by turn. To make things easy they had decided to take Ancient Runes applicants in the first half of the day and Charms applicants in the other half.

Teachers applying for Ancient Runes weren't really trouble. They were mostly aged people, who had run out of their lifetime of savings and decided to earn back a bit of it by going back to their jobs. After interviewing two dozen applicants they finally found their man. Professor Noah Raphsody, 62, a man of principles, a bit strict, but a kind hearted person overall who wanted to spend his last days peacefully. He was a talented man and Harry found him perfect for the job.

When they were done with the applicants of Ancient Runes it was still 20 minutes to afternoon and they thought it wouldn't hurt to take one more applicant before they took the lunch break. So, they called in a Charms applicant and realized how wrong they were.

"Enter."

A tall, thin, black haired boy entered. Harry offered him a seat and he sat down.

"Hullo, I am Aftro Orlin." said the applicant. He had a squeaky little voice.

"Hullo." said Harry.

"Hi." said Tom.

"So, Aftro, from where did you graduate and when?" asked Harry.

"I graduated fix yearf back from Durmftrang. And then I decided to gain fome handf on experience and went around the world. And it'f Aftro not Aftro."

"Sorry, I don't think I seem to understand you." Harry replied taken aback.

"My name, it'f not Aftro, it'f Aftro."

"Then what is it, Mr. Orlin."

"There'f a little problem with my fpeech when it comef to faying f, look I'll write down my name fo you can underftand me." He took a parchment and a quill out of his small bag while Harry and Tom stared at him. Tom who hadn't said anything until now didn't trust himself to speak as he was on the verge of laughing out.

He wrote down his name on the parchment and shoved it in front of Harry and Tom and then they saw what the problem was. His name was Astro not Aftro and he had a speech problem not a fpeech problem. Harry gulped down because if he hadn't he would have laughed out himself.

"So, Astro, I have a few tasks for you." Harry knew Astro was not the guy for the job but rejecting him without a valid reason would be unkind. He decided to give him a chance to realize he couldn't possibly be hired for this job. "I would like you to perform these so we can know of your expertise." said Harry. "We would like you to begin with level one." Harry conjured up a feather out of thin air and told Astro to make it fly.

"Wingardium Leviofa!"

The feather instead of flying flipped over and turned to ash in front of their very eyes. Harry knew his job was done.

"Very well, Mr. Orlin. We've seen your expertise. You'll be informed of our decision. Thank you very much."

"You mean I've to go?"

"Er, of course. you'll be informed of our decision."

"But if you felect fomeone you let them know then and there."

"Well, in that case, Mr. Orlin, you haven't been selected."

"Haven't been felected? But you haven't feen what I can do. I am very good at Charmf."

"Mr. Orlin, this really is not the field for you." said Harry trying to be as polite as he could.

"Yeah," added Tom. "saying the magic words properly is very important. Never forget Wizard Baruffio, who said 's' instead of 'f" and found himself on the floor with a buffalo on his chest. Only in your case it's the other way around."

"You don't underftand, I can do a lot of thingf, look." And he took out his wand and started trying spells on everything he could find within his reach turning it into literal disaster.

He tried to tap dance Harry's tea cup which rose in the air and fell shattering into many small pieces. He conjured water from his wand and tried to keep it hovering in the air without its container and Harry's office was dripping wet including Fawkes, himself, Tom and Astro. He tried to levitate the nearby cupboard and set it on fire. That was it for Harry. He took out his own wand,

"Explliarmus!" Astro's wand flew out of his hand before he could blink. "That's it Mr.Orlin! Tom, escort Mr.Orlin to the grounds."

Tom stepped forwards, "Mr.Orlin---_"

"No, no, I won't leave, I deferve__--"

"Silencio! Levicorpus!"

Before he could say anything else Tom silenced him then with him hovering over his head picked up his wand, left Harry's office and threw Mr.Orlin out of Hogwarts' gates. When he came back he was in tears because he was laughing quite hard. When he walked back into Harry's office he saw Harry drying himself with the tip of his wand.

"Shut up, that's not a laughing matter." said Harry when he saw him. His head was aching at the thought of how many more people would they be dealing with like this.

"Of courfe, that'f not a laughing matter at all." said Tom and Harry laughed out too. It was after all, amusing to see people like that.

Tom sat down in a nearby chair himself and dried himself up.

"Let's get down to Porch's hut and get some lunch." said Tom after bringing Harry's office back to its normal state.

"Yeah, let's crack into some food before they crack our heads." said Harry, thinking of the applicants awaiting their turn in the Great Hall.

Harry hadn't been wrong about these applicants. They did wreck his head. And they couldn't find anybody for charms either. Harry and Tom took interviews for another week and they still didn't have a charms teacher, finally, Harry decided Ginny could come back to teach charms and this time it would be official. Ginny was actually very good at it. And Bill and Fluer will be able to take care of their business outside school. Earlier, Harry's own motives had been involved in keeping Ginny away from Hogwarts. Harry had seen Ginny inches away from Greyback's claws, and he had no intentions of letting anything like that happen again. But perhaps, Ginny was right, Harry couldn't be selfish forever.

In the second week of July they called up applicants for Divination and Astronomy. Another week gone and they found their teachers. For Astronomy they hired a grumpy little witch, Astria O'Donnald. She was a nice lady but extremely good at her work. She could read the movements of the planets very well and the effects of their movements thereafter. She had a unique precision about her. As for Divination it was a big surprise for all that she had applied for the job, Giniva McGonagall. The moment Harry met her he saw her for what she was. She was as brilliant as her mother Minerva McGonagall. What Harry was surprised at was the fact that Professor McGonagall always thought that Divination was the most imprecise branch of magic and yet she had let her daughter pursue it. She was a complete imprint of her mother except that she was younger than her, around Ginny's age.

The third week of July was reserved for the applicants of Quidditch Coach which turned out to be disaster. Not one of the applicants could hang on to their brooms properly. And some didn't even know the rules of the game. Harry and Tom had a hard time with them. If one wouldn't fall off the broom then topple over something on the way. If one would grab the Quaffle they would fall off the broom. If one was following the snitch they wouldn't mind ducking when the bludgers attacked them. Harry strongly wished Wood had been here. But he was playing for England and anyways Harry didn't know if he would like to work at Hogwarts if Tom was around after what had happened at the mountains. Above all the work regarding Hogwarts Harry had to figure out a way of getting back the Resurrection Stone from Riddle. But right now they had to work for Hogwarts. After all so many things were left to do. After all the teachers would be selected, the Board of Directors of Hogwarts would come to 'determine whether all teachers are fit for the job or not' as stated in the letter Harry had received from the Board. Moreover, they had to select Prefects, Head Boy and Girl, and the Quidditch Captain before they left. And not only that, after Kingsley, the new Minister of Magic was to be chosen and worst of all for Harry was the fact that Draco was the most favoured person for the job which meant, that the Ministry was out of their hands if Malfoy got into power. It would be Riddle's reign all over. Harry had been offered the post at first but he had refused. Leaving Hogwarts wasn't exactly a good idea. He was the best protection Hogwarts had.

At least they had one hope up to save the Ministry and that was Hermione. When Harry had refused for the job he had nominated Hermione's name and nobody could deny Hermione's achievements. She had fought and retained the rights of House elves, had been one of the best aurors and the youngest head of the Law Enforcement Department at the Ministry. So, the decision was to be taken after a vote, a vote of the members of the Wizengamot, and the famous names of the century. For that a meeting was arranged at the Ministry in August and Harry had his hopes up that Hermione would take the job.

As for now their worries over Quidditch weren't over yet.

"Why don't you take flying lessons yourself?" Tom asked him on the first day of the last week, when until then they hadn't been able to find anyone.

"I don't have the time, Tom. Quidditch takes a lot out of you and you know we have got loads on ourselves than Quidditch."

"Look, you don't have to do it all through the year. If we can't find anyone now doesn't mean we won't be able to afterwards. We'll have Christmas holidays and Easter Holidays as well, until then I think you'll be able to take care of it and by what I've heard you're a damn good flier."

"Yeah you've got a point." said Harry but he still felt a bit down at the thought of so many things coming up and perhaps Tom saw it.

"Cheer up, you've got your birthday coming."

At that Harry finally smiled, "So, have you." It had been rather nice to find out that Harry's and Tom's birthday was on the same day except that Tom was a lot younger than Harry.

Tom's smile faded at Harry's words. Harry understood. "Don't you try to ditch the party Ginny's working so hard to arrange for us."

Tom turned away from him not wanting to meet his eyes. "I don't mean to..." He replied but he was actually dreading it. Another full moon was approaching and the wound in his chest had begun to ache again. He knew was this meant... He was feeling edgy and angry again. Going to Harry's place seemed like the worst idea like this.

"Then?" Harry asked walking out from behind his desk to look into his eyes.

Tom plucked up the courage to explain. "I don't think I should be at your place, Harry... Not when the full moon's shining out in the sky..."

Harry understood. He grabbed him by the shoulders. "You won't be alone, Tom. Nothing will happen to you or anyone else... you have to trust that...you have to trust me..."

Tom looked into his eyes and saw the confidence in him that he had himself lost. He nodded but he couldn't imagine the consequences if they lost control of him.

In the last few days of July they called up all the selected teachers along with Ginny. The Board took their test saw their expertise, felt satisfied with their performance and approved them. Then, the day before Harry's and Tom's birthday Ginny left for home. Harry, Tom and Dudley would go after closing Hogwarts completely. Porch was the only one who had decided to stay to take care of the Castle and its grounds. And anyways if he would accompany them to stay he would have to sleep out in the yard and that would be rather uncomfortable. So, he had decided to stay at Hogwarts but promised to come at Harry's and Tom's birthday. Harry and Tom finished their last minute tasks of selecting Prefects, Head Boy and Girl and Quidditch Captain, and left their letters in the Owlery.

Before leaving Harry went to his office and took Fawkes with him. Fawkes flew off to Godrics Hollow himself. Harry and Tom left the Castle with Dudley after shutting off each and every door and window of the Castle. Before doing so, they blocked chimneys everywhere in and out of the Castle. Cast spells to block Portkeys in and out of the Castle. And when they finally walked out of the Double Doors of the Castle, they sealed it with protective spells. They covered the whole Castle with protective Charms so nobody could fly in to the Castle even. Only the gates to the grounds were left open. Harry, Tom and Dudley reached the apparition spot near Hogshead and with Dudley grabbing Harry's arm tightly, disapparated.

Chapter 2

The Potter House

Harry, Tom and Dudley apparated in Godrics Hollow near the church. They walked all the way up to Harry's house. It was nothing like what it was 20 years ago. It was a beautiful place set up by Harry and Ginny. They had poured out their heart and soul in this house and had made it an Eden.

Harry opened the main gate and with Tom and Dudley behind him walked through the garden with its many flower beds to the front door of the house. He knocked thrice and Ginny's voice came through the door.

"What was written on the Snitch Dumbledore gave Harry?"

"I open at end." replied Harry.

Ginny opened the door. "Oh, Harry, it's so nice to see you home." She hugged him then hugged Tom and Dudley in turn. "Nice to see you both." She held the door open for all of them to pass through.

Tom walked in looking around. They had entered the drawing room, where a set of sofas lay. It was a simple yet very beautiful room. The walls all around were covered with photographs. Harry's and Ginny's, Mr. and Mrs. Weasleys, Mr. and Mrs. Potter's, Sirius', Lupin's and Nymphadora's, Ron's and Hermione's, and a photograph of Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny together. And for the next few days that Tom spent at Harry's, all over the house he found photographs of Harry, Ron and Hermione since their first year at Hogwarts. It seemed like they were together forever.

Although, Tom had wanted to see Harry's place for a while now, he found himself hesitating to go any further than the sitting room. He could smell just about every child in the house. There was going to be a full moon tomorrow night when Harry had called the entire Army at his place. It was the worst idea to have him here as well but Harry had sort of stopped listening to his pleas. He had been brought here even when he had not wanted to, partly because the heartbeat he could clearly hear nearing him meant a lot to him. He retreated a few steps as he heard loud feet running to him but before he knew where he was, he realized he stood right next to Harry who had held his arm to keep him where he was. He looked at Harry fearfully who stood very calmly holding him as the boy he loved more than anyone else ran out into the room and halted at his sight.

"Tom!" It was Alex. He had a wide smile on him and before anyone could stop him he had leapt at Tom and hugged him tightly. Harry let go of Tom's arm and before he could stop himself, he had embraced Alex. Tears leapt down his eyes as he realized how much he had missed Alex. Blinking through tears he opened his eyes to see Harry and Ginny beaming at him and his own lips twitched into a smile, a real smile that these days only the likes of Mr. Orlin could pull out of him. He closed his eyes relieved that nothing horrific had crossed his mind about Alex when he suddenly realized how small Alex was, at least when compared to him... His eyes snapped open and he dropped Alex down immediately.

"So, ho-_how are you?" He asked him retreating a few steps.

"I am good, and I was missing you. Uncle Harry said you would summer holidays with us, here but when I came here you weren't here but I knew Uncle Harry wouldn't lie to me, you'd be here sooner or later..."

"Yeah, I had to come..."

"Forgotten me?" Duds stepped in the moment he saw Tom's concentration slipping away from Alex.

"Of course not!" Alex replied him and hugged in turn.

"Go ahead, Alex, show Dudley your room." Harry stepped in understanding quite clearly that Tom needed an escape route.

"C'mon!" More to Harry's surprise, Alex grabbed Dudly's hand and extended another one to Tom for him to take who looked t Harry for help.

"Actually, I have something important to discuss with Tom, why don't you go along with Dudley, Tom will join you two shortly."

Alex nodded then walked away with Dudley as Tom turned away from them towards the door. He was half way out when he found Harry standing in front of him.

"I never should have come here. It was a mistake. I am going back."

Harry stared at him a moment but he knew how to calm him down. "Come with me." He went back inside and started climbing up the stairs. Tom stayed where he was.

"At least see what he has to show you." Ginny pitched in grabbing his arm dragging him inside. But before Ginny could take him any further he jerked away from her.

"How can you do this? Why wouldn't you understand? These are your own children!" He had nearly shouted at her. He lowered his voice when he heard the voices upstairs die down suddenly. "You know what it means to keep me here. You are putting them in real danger! How do you even justify that?!"

"We don't." Harry replied him climbing back down. "We just know that we can't leave you behind only because you're sick. This, is just temporary. You will get better. This will go away."

"Yeah," Ginny added grabbing his arm again. "Imagine, if James caught cold... do you think we'll ask him to stay away from everyone else? Of course not. Why would we do this to you then?"

"Because I am not your son!" Tom answered her rather harshly and jerked away from her again. He turned away from both of them expecting some outbreak of a reaction that would tell him that they were disappointed in him or that they had made a mistake by inviting him over any second now.

"I think he's getting back at us for missing out on his teenage." Ginny said to Harry loud enough for him to hear.

He rolled his eyes and turned back to them to see them standing side by side, their arms crossed beaming positively at each other. "You guys don't give up easy, do you?"

"If we did, we wouldn't be us." Harry replied and winked at him finally seeing a smile flit across his face.

"I am glad that you are... You." He said finding himself at a loss for words.

"We know." Ginny patted him on the back as Harry took him upstairs with him.

Wow, harry and Ginny truly make amazing parents. The way they diffused the situation with understanding and humor ( I guess he is getting back at us for missing out on his teenage) was superb! :)
Peri, ever reached out to any publisher with your work? You write wonderfully and should really consider it.
Looking forward to the birthday party.

They climbed two floors to arrive at a trap door leading up to the attic.

"I thought you didn't have an attic." Tom said surprised at seeing one. Harry had never mentioned it when he had mentioned his house.

"We didn't have it until a week ago. This is all magic but we added it for you. We knew you wouldn't share a room with anyone like this. So, we, made you a separate place which would also be inaccessible to Alex if you remove the last flight of stairs." Harry winked. Tom understood, Harry had taken all safety precautions, only for him. "Want to see the inside of it?" Harry opened the door and let him in.

The roof was tall enough for both of them to stand, there was a small single bed and a table and a chair in the corner.

In another corner there was something metallic. Tom walked to it slowly and realized what it was, he stopped short.

He smiled. "I am glad you haven't been careless."

Harry stared at him. "To be honest, it's a little creepy watching you smile at the metallic chains your bedroom."

Tom turned to him. "I couldn't have been happier. Knowing you have something that can restrain the monster that unleashes on full moon will let me sleep more peacefully nights when there's no moon at all." Tom still remembered his first full moon. It had been a complete disaster. The only good thing was that he had been alone in the Castle with Harry, Dudley and Porch so no one had been harmed but he couldn't quite get that night out of his mind. The animal reaching out from inside of him had found itself at a sheer lack of flesh and blood and in its hunger for it, it had feasted on its own manifestation. Tom had found his own newly discovered claws digging into his own flesh. The night had waned in pain and misery that he could not bring to an end until finally, the moon had faded and the sun had risen and Dudley had found him in a heap of blood in the forbidden forest. Since, it had been his first full moon and he had only taken the first dose of the antidote the night before, his werewolf DNA had healed his wounds the next day. This time, the antidote would have a greater effect as well as the aggression taking hold of him slowly. He knew he would be in a mess after this moon but he would feel a lot better if he knew he was the only one who felt that way. Hence, Harry's idea of the metallic chains had been a welcome resort to him.

"Thankfully, these chains will come in use tomorrow, until then these are better left forgotten." Harry said turning to leave.

"I don't think so, Harry." Tom replied stopping him short. "The way I've been feeling since I have stepped into this house, I think we'll need these tonight as well."

"Why?" Harry turned back to him now listening to him seriously.

"I mean it, I can feel it, you'll see-_"

"Lunch is ready!" Before Tom could finish Ginny's voice carried up there from downstairs.

"Look," Harry started before Tom could go back to undermining his own strength of dealing with this. "there's a lot of time till night fall... There won't be any moon in the sky before about seven in the evening, so you can at least stay with everyone else till nightfall."

Tom sighed. He knew Harry wouldn't understand just yet. He nodded and followed him downstairs. At the dining table where everyone enjoyed a happy meal, Tom sat transfixed in his seat with his plate untouched. On one side of him sat Dudley while on another sat Harry. It was upon reaching the table that Tom realized he had no appetite left for food, at least none for human food. As he sat among people he called his family, all he could think of was the way each and every one of them smelled, all he could hear was their heart beats and blood pumping through their veins and he was beginning to feel the urge to taste it as well. Before he knew he was white and sweaty. Dudley who kept elbowing him every two minutes to shake him back to present realized it wasn't working. As soon as Ginny served desert, Tom stood up and without a word to anyone on the table left. Harry followed him back to his attic. As he entered, he found him slammed against a wall with his eyes tight shut and his hands over his face.

"Make it stop, Harry..." Tom said as he heard Harry enter.

"What do I do?" Harry asked at a loss himself.

"Admit it, it was a bad idea, confining me in a small house with more humans than I can stand these days!" He nearly growled at Harry.

"It'll only last two days and then you'll be fine!" Harry answered evenly.

"If anyone survives these two days!" Tom answered, anger taking control of him again. He advanced on Harry and although Harry didn't want to, he pulled out his wand.

Tom stared at him a moment then stopped. Something had just occurred to him. The wand in his Harry's hand was no ordinary wand. "You can do something." Tom said suddenly his anger vanishing.

"What?" Harry stared.

"You can imperius me."

Harry stood transfixed for a moment. He thought he hadn't heard him right.

"Oh no, you heard me right...

Harry raised his eyebrows and shut his mind out to him.

Tom realized his mistake. "Sorry... I didn't mean to... it's the-_ this mood that's getting hold of me... all blunt and I don't know... but you have to admit Harry, it is a good idea..."

Harry couldn't believe him. He was willing to break the Decree for this.

"Look, I know I am asking a lot, but that's the only way you and your family will be safe, lock me up and keep me imperiused..."

Harry shook his head. "I made arrangements to lock you up but I am not using the imperius curse on you let alone keep you under it for hours."

Tom who was losing it already didn't want to hear another no. Harry had turned away from him. He grabbed him by the shoulder and turned him back to himself. "Why not?!"

Harry jerked away from him. He could see Tom was losing control but he couldn't do this to him. "You don't understand. There are implications! And even if I do put you under the curse, you will break it, you're too strong. You're good at breaking through it and you've proven it."

Tom shook his head. "I'll be prepared, I won't fight, I promise. I'll take it and I'll obey."

Harry wanted to shake him out of his madness. "You've lost it! The only way anyone can break the imperius curse is that they have the will to fight it! If you take it with the intention of not fighting back, it'll become harder to fight off when you want to! You'll condition your mind to take it rather than throw it! It's dangerous!"

Tom who didn't think he could say anything else felt his heart beat race as the familiar scent he had dodged from the dining room neared him again. Alex was by the trap door climbing up the staircase. Tom felt the urge so hard to rip right through the floor and grasp him that he felt if he didn't do it he would explode and yet he stayed in the room turning away from Harry grabbing the edge of the small table to keep him here.

"Are you alright?!" Harry asked anxiously when Tom turned away. He neared him watching him take deep breaths as if he was relieving some kind of pain.

"No..." Tom answered as Harry turned him back to himself to see the sight that he had previously not had the misfortune to see. Tom's eyes were glowing bright and his face had contorted in a rage that had never existed before. "Trust me, Harry, the alternative is beyond dangerous!"

Harry retreated a couple of steps.

"Alex is here." Tom said quietly. "And this is as far as I can do it... I am losing it, Harry...help me...help him..." At his last words the trap door opened inward and Harry raised his wand.

"Imperio!" Harry disillusioned himself, the chains and stood beside Tom as he felt himself gaining control over Tom's mind. He told him to relax and smile and sure enough when Tom turned to face Alex, all anger, all misery was gone and only a beautiful smile was left on his handsome face.

"Not hungry, are you?" Alex asked when Tom turned to him.

Harry told him to answer.

"No." Tom answered.

"Mind if I sit a while?" Alex asked looking up at him timidly.

Harry hated doing this but he knew Tom would kill him if he allowed Alex to stay. "Actually, I was going to turn in. I haven't been feeling well much. How about I catch you at breakfast tomorrow?"

Alex blinked, Tom had never refused him before and these days all he did was say no. He quickly nodded not wanting to feel more embarrassed and out of place than he already did. He left.

Harry knew Tom would be able to sort things out with Alex later. He had to do the necessary now. He summoned the antidote that he had to give to Tom.

"Drink." He ordered him and Tom drank it silently without questioning. Harry stared at him. He was good at what he set his mind to which right now meant not struggling against his curse. It was a scary prospect but Tom had made it very clear that it was needed.

Harry swished his wand once and the heavy chains cuffed around Tom's wrists and his waist. Only his feet were left without chains only because he wouldn't need those. The chains weighed 4 times his own size. He wouldn't even be able to stand with these on and sure enough as soon as the chains were tied Tom was on the floor on all fours.

Harry grabbed his pillow from the bed and put it on the floor with a soft blanket. "Sleep and do not wake up until the break of dawn." He ordered him and Tom obeyed, he lay his head on the pillow, his hands spread about him and in an instant he was in a deep sleep.

"Protego!" Harry cast a shield around him just in case he broke through the curse and the chains. He opened the trap door and climbed down the stairs. At the landing he cast a number of curses to keep the trap door locked and cast the muffliato spell so no sound could leave the attic should Tom wake up. Then he removed the last flight of stairs leading up to the attic and retired to his own room. His own slumber was far far away from him.
