But oh boy, this update was brutal. Though honestly this is what you had set us up for through all the notes from the past, it still was not an easy read.

I am not saying that Arnav should be given any leeway just because he is a hot mess and we the readers at least know that deep down he is a good person.. or at any rate grown up to be a good person, but I do understand his character nonetheless. Yes, he made mistakes and unwittingly (it would seem) pushed Khushi into a gigantic mess. But I think Anjali gave us an insight into his character, he is basically a less drama-queen version of NK. He wants to just be happy and do so with no confrontation. Not to mention he seems to suffer from some perverse abandonment issues. And while Khushi is right in the middle of every character's life, and drives the motivations of everyone, I am beginning to see this is more a coming-of-age story of Arnav Singh Raizada, not the boy he was, but hopefully the man he grew up to be. I still find him a compelling character.

And I think now I finally also understand Preeto's fierceness when it comes to Khushi. I don't know if you did this deliberately, but you set up Akash and Aman as wonderful, young men. But as the layers peel away, they seem increasingly like straw-men. Though my perceptions wildly oscillate as I read each update, so I am sure they will redeem themselves soon enough. You are a fine writer like that! But, but I can't wait to read what Holi brings. I hope that it is the beginning of Khushi's dignity being rightfully restored. I have faith in Arnav now and I daresay I also have faith in Payal. I think I am beginning to see your method.. you get us all worked up about a character and they will do the right thing eventually 😛

I think they will because firstly, Arnav and Khushi have both grown up lots, and secondly, YB said the whole point of this story was to more realistically explore the class differences between Arnav and Khushi. That implies a relationship, does it not? (back me up here, Radhika!)

And just in case they don't, I'm sure they'll explore plenty more awkward rabba-ve-ish ground before the end and that sounds like a lot of fun too.

P.S. Wrt to Poonam, honestly, there are a bunch of reasons why she would put up with the (occasionally) philandering husband. Everything from she being genuinely and a little blindly in love with Anand, to worrying about AR's share prices falling in case of a messy divorce could be a reason. 😆

And as canapoem rightly pointed out, IF Anand is the philandering sort, all of these incidents would look super suspicious to Poonam. Not that it justifies her reaction to Khushi in any way, but there you have it.

I am, more than ever, rooting for normally-snarky-but-foot-in-mouth-around-Khushi Arnav and cool-in-control-but-secretly-crushing-on-Arnav Khushi.

But seriously, I feel even if they don't have some kind of perfectly resolved fairytale ending, it will be a happy one. You mentioned the K3G parallels the other day. Now I am seeing more of it. You know how in KJo's version Sr Raizada would be happy just doing the shava shava with PYTs, but in a more realistic version of it he will actually cheat on his wife.
