Welp! I have a lot of angry readers. I am going to respond to some of the comments here.
@kclovesarshi: The notes from the past is a chronological account of events, so it was Mr Raizada's stroke at the office, followed by the mithai at Raizada House and then the farmhouse. I do agree that Mrs P should not have blamed Khushi for whatever it is that she believed about her husband, but there is a particular human kink that makes women stand by abusive husbands or families to stand by patriarchal figures accused of all kinds of crimes. So, in a way I believe that her reaction while not ideal, is kind of along expected lines. At least that is how I envisaged her reaction to this episode when I wrote it.@canapoem: You know once I am done with this story I am going to write a spin-off where Khushi marries Arnav and slowly mercury poisons all of the Raizadas for revenge 😆I will be doing one more Notes from the Past, but that will be just before the penultimate chapter. From now on the present chapters will themselves consist of any reference to the past.@kanthi_chks: You are my favourite reader because you are the only person who has ever told me that you were pleasantly surprised by how quickly I managed to update 😊@anera: I can see you are disappointed with my characters as well as me. Going to address the latter. I promise that I am not attempting to bait and switch the readers by calling this an ArShi story and make it something else. I hope as the story progresses you will see that and find it a rewarding reading experience by the end of it.@Everyone: Thank you all for reading and commenting and having such diverse opinions about the characters in this story. Writing this story has so far been so much fun because of you guys. Also I am sorry that I don't remember/ know all your names though many of you did tell me this in Thread I. Unsure when I will be posting the next part, but four updates in April is on the cards 😊

After sleeping on it, I'm thinking ki Raizada Sr did perhaps have a roving eye.Poonam Raizada is elitist, classist and a lot of other -ists but she is also very intelligent. One doesn't run a massive multi-million corporation more or less singlehandedly without some modicum of brains and ability to judge character. So maybe her paranoia stems from some genuine insecurity and incident(s) in her past when Raizada Sr actually had an affair. Or three.

Semanti, I have the same opinion as you have.I thought a lot about the entire turn of events which have happened in the lives of the Raizadas and Khushi, and many might even throw rotten eggs at me but Poonam is just an insecure wife who is trying hard to keep her marriage intact along with their business.Assuming that Sr. Raizada does sleep around with younger women, the first time Poonam noticed Khushi was when she was with Arnav's dad. Ok he got a hear attack and Khushi called the ambulance etc, but the logical conclusion Poonam would have arrived at (knowing that her husband has a thing for younger women,) is that something was going on between Khushi and her husband.Same happened the day Khushi visited their house, Poonam saw that Khushi was trying to help a throwing up Anand and came to the same conclusion and unfortunately same thing happened the third time too. Maybe she thought her husband must have called Khushi or Khushi herself had come looking for her husband.Unfortunately Poonam gave a guilty verdict immediately and never once thought that Khushi could be innocent. But what surprises me is why is Poonam putting up with her husband's infidelity? Why did she not go for a divorce or just leave her husband or atleast threaten to leave him?And is Anand really that kind of guy? Maybe he is not, did Poonam even confront him on these issues?Anand also is not happy with his marriage, we all know that. but why??? Is it because Poonam is dominating or gives prominence to money more than her home? Why do the children also have some kind of aversion towards their mother? It is just plain unfortunate that Khushi got stuck inbetween this husband and wife duo without her knowledge.Atleast Arnav and Preeto still have some conscience left in them and the guilt they feel speaks of their inner turmoil regarding the destruction of Khushi's life. Now Radhika, coming to your below note:@canapoem: You know once I am done with this story I am going to write a spin-off where Khushi marries Arnav and slowly mercury poisons all of the Raizadas for revenge 😆I will be doing one more Notes from the Past, but that will be just before the penultimate chapter. From now on the present chapters will themselves consist of any reference to the past.So you mean to say that Arnav and Khushi dont get together in the end??? Since this story is so close to real life and in real life we dont have happily ever after like fairy tale ones, do you mean to say that in the end Khushi just continues with her struggles in life with the hope of a happier future???It would be interesting to read the ending as most of the Arshi stories have happy endings where Arnav and Khushi are happily united for ever.
Came across this story few weeks ago and fell in love with your story telling ! Your wry sense of humor (bees and gulab jamun/ Jesus and Joon jiju) , attention to detail and the growth in characters -from age 14 to 28 ( through the dialogues especially between Arnav and Kushi ) is amazing. You leave enough tidbits in each update about how you see the characters...
Young Arnav character after this update is more clear ("he seldom took sides", "...dad was somehow responsible") to me. The parents do not get along and he has developed a strategy to remain neutral to maintain peace. He is too proper ( chides Payal on Kushi first day @Newons that Kushi will overhear her rude comment), always introspects ( train ride Kushi writing furiously her essay and he registers her hairpins...and realizes that his mother is wrong about her character; this update- if his father had made any moves on her she would not take it lightly ). But what makes this guy tick, he has no friends (maybe Anjali), is dating payal for a few years and will marry a woman he does not love...
Both Arnav and Khushi were class conscious when they were young . An attraction between the two always existed. Have they both now grown up? Will Arnav develop a spine- not marry Payal and stand up to his mother ? Kushi will she able to now defend herself from Poonam's character assassination?
Looking forward to how you would weave the rest of the story.

Kavi..you and Semanti described exactly what is going on in Poonam's mind.. in high societies people keep a facade of a happy marriage just to maintain reputation..don't we have enough examples of our politicians / bollywood actors having multiple spouses at same time? their other spouses have no problem :-) Poonam is doing the same..but what she did to Kushi is highly unacceptable.. but I feel Arnav's dream of Poonam feeling sorry for what she did to Kushi might come true but by then so much water would flow below the bridge..!!
Now coming to the ending, even I have a feeling Arnav Kushi won't marry..in real life a Chandni Chowk middle class girl can never be bahu of high class Raizadas..India has not progressed that much..this FF is more real than what they showed in Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham ..a Chandni Chowk Mithai girl marrying Raichand

Oh ye of little faith! There Khushi and Arnav are having the cutest awkward rabba ve's over old school photographs and uncomfortable sofas and here we don't believe they'll end up together? 😆I think they will because firstly, Arnav and Khushi have both grown up lots, and secondly, YB said the whole point of this story was to more realistically explore the class differences between Arnav and Khushi. That implies a relationship, does it not? (back me up here, Radhika!)And just in case they don't, I'm sure they'll explore plenty more awkward rabba-ve-ish ground before the end and that sounds like a lot of fun too.P.S. Wrt to Poonam, honestly, there are a bunch of reasons why she would put up with the (occasionally) philandering husband. Everything from she being genuinely and a little blindly in love with Anand, to worrying about AR's share prices falling in case of a messy divorce could be a reason. 😆And as canapoem rightly pointed out, IF Anand is the philandering sort, all of these incidents would look super suspicious to Poonam. Not that it justifies her reaction to Khushi in any way, but there you have it.I am, more than ever, rooting for normally-snarky-but-foot-in-mouth-around-Khushi Arnav and cool-in-control-but-secretly-crushing-on-Arnav Khushi.
