Thank you so much🤗 It means a lot coming from you because I always love your comments. Your insights, your perspective and the clarity with which you present it is amazing!
In your comment...the way you tried to justify the parents' point of views...generation gap...was appreciable.
I loved this part: "This is a guilt she will have to live with for the rest of her life methinks. Life is the best teacher. It is never too late to learn & rectify. After all, we're all humans. Nobody is infallible, but the fact that we realize our mistakes & learn from them is the best thing we can do in life. Anger & hatred are the canker to our souls. We should try & stay away from it as much as possible. Learn to forgive & forget & move on, should be the motto of our lives. "
Aastha and probably Guptas and Kashyaps, too once they find out the truth, will realise their lack of faith and judgement, feel a guilt that may not ever go away.

Jenny, I am drowning in a puddle of tears in the kitchen while the little one has a play date in the basement. Her friend must be telling my daughter that your mum is weird. Does that tell you how perfectly you have written this chapter? I love your writing style, you don't put blame but lay out the situation in a way that it is up to us to pick who we want to love, to blame and who is the hero and who is the villain. I like this a lot about your writing style because it would have been easy to blame Astha for her mothering style, right? Why did she not stand by her son? Blame Sashi for over protecting La. Blame Kushi's parents for not standing by her. But we are all a product of what we have been exposed to and what we learned growing up. the best line for me from this update was Astha's thoughts as they were driving to the hospital "all those years, what her son needed most from her was trust and all she could give him was judgement . . ." Are we all not too quick to judge and offer our opinion when the other person may simply need someone to listen and not judge.

I love how he has finally opened up to his mother, how he has exposed the nastiness of what the marriage was based on and how he loved that boy as a real son. His promise to Aarav led him to protect him even in death and after death. Isn't this a true parent?
I will tell you I also loved the part when his first thoughts were of Kushi after finding out who La blamed and the ending where he realized what needs to be done and that there were issues to be dealt with (yes, he did not help the cause by staying quiet and let everyone think he is the villain), people to be taken care of and best a life to be lived - his and Kushi's. Out of the darkness, out came the resolve and the will to be free and live his life.

Saffron Field is such a precious story and I thank you for giving it to us Dr. Jenny! Muah!

Beautifully analysed and phrased! 👏 truly, in every update, we've tried to blame some person or the other for the situation, for their actions or their judgement. In the process, aren't we being judgmental, too?
You so rightly said, 'Isn't this a true parent?' Even in midst of all misery, Arnav tried his best to look after his child's interest. A child whose genes he may not have shared, but who was his in every other way that mattered.

Jen, as I was reading the chapter again, I had to point out since I had not done so earlier, that the following excerpt from the chapter really touched my heart... You've written these words so well, it was almost poetic... 👏 👏 Keep up the good work girl. 👍🏼

"His guards stunned into inaction, he didn't even attempt to mask the emotional upheaval churning in his heart. It reflected clearly in his caramel eyes. They shone with the hunted, bewildered expression of a desperate man who suddenly sees his only chance of happiness, of life itself, slipping away from between his fingers. Vanishing like an illusion that his cruel fate had perhaps delighted in conjuring up for him.

He knew very well the calamitous effect this unfortunate news would have on Khushi. On her benevolent, empathetic heart. On her sensitive psyche. It would break her. Possibly, irreparably.

And it was all his fault. Again.

In his overwhelming need, his near desperation for her presence in his bleak life, he had inadvertently allowed her to be in harm's way. "

Lost in feeling pain for Arnav and the frustration for the whole situation, I really missed out on seeing the sheer beauty of these words. Really Jen, they are like poetry...flowing, poignant, leaving an impact!
Thank you, PG (sorry, I don't know your name 😆) for pointing it out...It really is beautifully written! :)

Thanks dear, you're so kind. 🤗 I enjoy reading your comments as well. Loved this one especially :)

I just love this story because it is so realistic in the portrayal of all its characters, each one is behaving exactly what one would expect from someone in their position vis--vis age or relationship. I don't think I've ever said after reading anything in this story that this seems so unreal. And Jen's eloquent writing really makes this story that much more special & pleasant to read. 😊

Btw, I am Geeta, sorry don't know your name either.

So when she seduced Arnav seeing the opportunity, she played with his goodness and it became a blessing for her to be able to lump her pregnancy on his head. She thought she had her cake and eat it too...😆
In my hurry, I didn't check what I had written... 😳

From what I understood in Chapter 31 and assuming Lavanya wasn't lying...
She was already pregnant when she slept with Arnav on graduation night, but didn't know it 'cause she had had her period just a week before that but it was a 'false period'. so when she found out she was pregnant she assumed it was Arnav's.
Then in the duration of her marriage she had doubts about the parentage but didn't try to confirm it just chose to reassure herself mentally.
At Aarav's birth she realised he wasn't Arnav's son but chose to hide it from him because she was scared and felt guilty and that manifested itself in her unreasonable demands, placing blames on Arnav and neurotic behaviour.
But to answer Jay's question, "Would Lavanya stayed quiet and consented for divorce without a fight if she is unaware of Khushi? "
I don't think so, because at the restaurant even before getting Khushi's call...she told Arnav she requires time to think... she wasn't ready to accept that it's over!

Oh...Hey Geeta! you can call me UV(as in you-vee) or Aashi, whatever you prefer! 😆
I've read your comments on other stories like EIT, I think and always liked your analysis.

And yeah, I totally agree with you about the realistic portrayal here, I love Jenny's honest treatment of all characters. Her writing almost always leaves it upto us to form an opinion about any character. She tries to portray both sides to any person or situation, we just need to look for it.

may be kushi thinks she dissapointed her parents, because they never supported her decision ,nor show some trust on their daughter...that's why she left with out telling arnav...

wondering when this lavanya fisco will be ended...

I like all the above speculations...
Personally, I think any of these scenarios are possible...
But more than Lavanya meeting her or Manya's blames, it's her parents' stand on the situation that has shattered her...
So I don't know whether she will meet Arnav or not now (although I think it's unlikely), I feel she is going to move away and let go of Arnav, because she probably believes that their love is breaking too many hearts.
She once said to Anita, "When it's true love, even if you keep letting it go, if it's meant to be, it will always come back; if it doesn't then you're better off without it."
I think she finally acts on this belief of hers...
And I feel she takes up an MSF assignment and goes to India...I'm still thinking which place it could be. Pampore, again? Or since the train Arnav was on, goes to WB...it could be Darjeeling or something.

Jenny loved reading this Chapter just like all others.
Mother's ' Unconditional Love.' Comforting Engulfing Arnav in Her Mantle of Healing Touch.
As You put it 'Trust' when most needed was Zilch.
Being Blind to the Turmoil in Her Son's Life.
Trust from the people You Love goes a long way.
Guiding Steering in Chilhood
Yet Trusting them all along in their Decisions.
Adulthood. Giving Them Benifit of Doubt. Yet Respecting their Decisions.
You have penned it so Well.
First concern was for Khushi
What Effect it will have on their Relationship?
Revealing Lavanya's Insecurities. Her Lies.
The Truth of Arav.
The Ugly Scene Witnessed by an innocent Child.
The Impact on their Delicate Mind
The Sob.
You Toushed My Heart when Penned Arrav's Words
'Daddy-You will always be My Daddy'
'Always' (Arnav)
P.S.:-
Jenny every chapter reading between the lines. You point to the issues of Great Importance.
My POV.

I hated how Khushi's parents reacted when Lavanya's sister went to visit. Where was their trust in her? Unfortunately Anita wasn't there to help her feel better.

Lavanya had always been obsessed about Arnav and even when he told her they could not be more than friends she got him drunk and bedded him. She has not even told her family abt the paternity of Aarav. I suppose like all families they just pushed her insecurities under the rug and pretended that all was fine.

Arnav's mom finally knows the truth. Waiting to read the confrontation with the Kashyaps.

Hope that Arnav will find some time to call Khushi. Will Manya tell him that she had gone to see Khushi with the note?
