Part 4

The marriage rituals quickly completed. They were termed as husband and wife.

Blessings from the family .. Completed.

Bidaai.. Completed.

Griha Pravesh.. Completed.

Post marriage games at Shantivan.. Postponed to the next day.

Suhaagraat.. On way.

It was a very tensed situation. Things were changing rapidly. She was Khushi Gupta till yesterday and today she was Mrs Khushi Singh Raizada, wife of Arnav who was already in love with Lavanya. Such a complicated relationship this was. Khushi had witnessed the anger in Lavanyaji's eyes when she saw them fulfilling the marriage rituals. Anjaliji was the only one to console her. Nani's excitement to get the bahu for her family, her father's relief of seeing her daughter getting settled in a good house, Khushi didnt miss anything. And the highlight of this dad was Arnavji's silence and coldness. Since the time she had sat beside him in the Mandap for the wedding to start, he was quiet and did only what he was asked to do. How else would he react? He was marrying an unknown girl whom he didnt love and that too for 6 months.

Khushi wanted to bring a full stop to her thoughts. She was worried for everything and everyone. But the most important person she was missing at the moment was her father. She had no one except him. How will he survive without her? Who will take care of him? Even though this is only for 6 months , still 6 months are not less. She just wanted to meet her father or at least talk to him. May be that would help her ease down. She checked her phone but something striked. She had no much balance topped up. How will she call? She felt dejected. In all this marriage preps, she forgot this most important job. Suddenly her eyes fixed to the door where Arnavji was standing and looking at her. She became cold. Her body stiffened. When did he come? He locked the door behind him, she moved behind. She just wanted the time to pass. What should she talk? What will he ask her? Should she show some compassion towards him because he literally was sacrificing his love and entering this new relationship with her? She had no clue. He came to the bed. He never thought a night like this would come where there would be some other girl as his wife , waiting for him to come .

He extended his mobile towards her.

Arnav: I know you are missing your father too much. Just call him and talk . You will feel better.

She liked his approach but hesitated to use his phone.

Arnav: Khushi its fine. I know you dont have you number topped up. I will ask Aman to do it tomorrow. Meanwhile you can use my phone. We are married now.

How can a man be so gentle and understanding? She took the phone from him. She was about to dial when Lavanya's number started beeping on it. Khushi passed the phone back to him. Arnav just could not believe Lavanya was calling him on his Suhaagraat? But he cannot ignore her insecurities either. Any girl would feel that way. But attending her call was not so much important . Khushi was new to this house, to this family and she was terribly missing her father.

Arnav: I will call Lavanya later. You finish talks with your father first.

He knew she will not be okay with this hence before she could try convincing him, he left at the Poolside to allow her some space to make this call. She finished her talks and then saw him entering the room again. She passed him the phone.

Khushi: You arranged a nurse for Babuji?

Arnav: Yes. There should be someone to look after him in your absence.

He surprised her yet again. Even she had not thought in those lines for her father, how could he?

Khushi: Arnavji, me and my father are very lucky to have you in our life. You are really saving us from every odds.

Arnav: Because I am selfish Khushi.

He sat on the bed just next to her still keeping some distance.

Khushi: Selfish?

Arnav: Yes. When I do this for your father, I feel I am repaying back to my dad whom I couldnt save when I was young.

Khushi didnt understand what he meant by this.

Arnav: He was sick and we were not so rich like this. He fought his illness and we fought for earning some money. But I was late. He took his last breathe the same day I arranged some money for his Operation.

He was a strong man but his eyes still teared. He wiped them off before they could shed.

Arnav: So whenever I see your father, whenever I help him, I feel I am doing this for my Dad. Wish he was alive.

Khushi: Everything happens for a reason Arnavji. Wheever your father is, I am sure he is living a better life than before. But may I ask you something?

Arnav kept starring her face.

Khushi: Till when will you keep doing this? I am a girl of principles. I might not like your help after these 6 months get over. But I appreciate your concern for us. Thank you.

Was that necessary for her to remind him? But she was not wrong. He just had 6 months in hand. But whenever she will ask for help even after that time, he will always offer.

Arnav: Get changed and sleep on the bed. I will take the couch.

Khushi: No. I will take the couch.

Arnav: You cannot argue with me.

Khushi; WHy?

Arnav: Because I am your husband now.

They both stiffened. Husband- Wife? Yeah thats what they were. Only for 6 months from today. SHe remembered the Divorce papers she signed . Should she tell this to him? But Lavanyaji had denied. What if he doesnt like it? What if he scolds Lavanyaji because of her.? Lavanyaji was already upset. She cannot give any more stress to her. She decided to remain quiet in this matter.

Next Morning

Arnav and Khushi both were coming down. Suddenly Lavanya came there and blocked their way. She was looking very angry.

Lavanya: How dare you ASR? You didnt receive my call? Do you have any idea what I was going through? I didnt sleep. I was just thinking about you all night. Why did you do this to me?

Khushi left. She didnt wanted to be a thorn between them. Arnav scanned the surroundings. Luckily there was no one who was witnessing this scene.

Arnav: Lavanya behave. If Nani sees us she will have questions.

Lavanya: I dont care if she sees.

Arnav: But I do

He clutched her shoulder in anger.

Arnav: Look Lavanya, you cannot just blame me for anything. This was your decision. I married because you and DI forced me to . Dont make it more difficult by showing such insecurities now. I really dont like it.

Lavanya calmed down.

Lavanya: Say that you love me still Arnav.

Arnav: I do. I love you. I always will.

She was happy. She didnt need anything else. She tried to hug him but he stopped her and left. He cannot take any chance in his house. Lavanya followed him. They came at the Dinning where Khushi was already taking blessings from Nani and others. Arnav took his seat. Lavanya took the opposite one beside Anjali.

Nani: So chotte, how was your Suhaagraat? I hope you didnt trouble my Bahu much.

Anjali: Nani, Chotte will never reply to that. Only Khushi will. Am I right Khushi bhabhi?

Khushi had no idea how to react . She smiled . Arnav pretended to be happy and Lavanya was just trying to fake a smile but internally she was simply fuming.

Arnav: Excuse me? Honeymoon?

Nani: Whats so strange in that Chotte? Every new married couple goes.

Arnav: But Nani its . its not possible. I have very important work here.

Nani: Someone else will manage it . Shyam is also there. He will handle things in your absence.

Khushi was feeling uneasy.

Arnav: No Nani. This aint possible. Not this early. Some other time.

Nani: Other time? When? After 5 - 6 months? Wont that be too late for a Honeymoon chotte?

It will indeed be very late for the honeymoon, La thought and chuckled. By the end of six months it will be the end of this marriage and anyone who would then go for such a trip will be she and Arnav, not Khushi. Arnav denied firmly to the proposal of his Nani to send him and Khushi for a honeymoon in bali. He gave all kinds of excuses which Nani had to accept and agree to him.

Arnav forced himself to the office because he just could not stay at home and keep taking the teases from his Nani. It was hurting him from within. He dropped Khushi for her Pag phera in her Mayka and was strictly told to get her back with him in the evening. He had to accomplish this task because now he was binded to her. He was sitting alone on his chair, closing his eyes when suddenly Lavanya came there and wrapped her arms around his neck from behind.

Lavanya: Thinking about me?

Arnav's eyes shot open.

Arnav: Lavanya ? What are you doing here?

Lavanya: Where will I go then? Guess what? I have a very nice plan for today. Good you came to office. At least here we dont have your nani to keep us away. Lets go to my house and spend some time.

She tried getting closer to him, she kissed his cheek and was about to loosen his tie but he moved her away.

Arnav: No Lavanya. Its time up. I have to pick Khushi from her house and take her back home.

Lavanya: Ohh come on ASR .Ask the driver to pick her up. Give any kind of excuse to your nani but please, dont go away like this. I need you.

She hugged him tight and tried to kiss him to divert his attention from that Khushi but he literally pushed her back in anger.

Arnav: Stop it Lavanya. I cannot do this. I have responsibilities. Added responsibilities now. And I dont want to miss doing them.

Lavanya: And what about me?

Arnav: You are important La. You always were. Thats why I married someone else. But let me make one thing clear. I have promised something. I cannot get close to you until these 6 months get over and so does this marriage of mine.

Lavanya was shocked.

Lavanya: What? Promised? You promised that Khushi? She is so important to you that you promised her of not touching me? Who the hell is she to decide this?

Lavanya was getting aggressive now. He caught her arms.

Arnav: My legally wedded wife. She is my better half Lavanya. I dont know for how long. But then until she is a part of me, I dont think I will allow myself to get close to someone else.

Lavanya didnt like his answer.

Lavanya: And what about Khushi? If you have promised you wont touch me for next 6 months will you TOUCH HER?

The answer should have been a clear NO but it never came from Arnav . He pushed her back in anger.

Arnav: Its such a shame that you are even asking me this Lavanya. You dont deserve to get my reply.

He took his suit and left the cabin. He was getting late to pick Khushi.
