There is so much that depends on how you define morality. To what extent should it encompass how society defines it?

Maybe, one can bid goodbye to societal definitions when you actions don't impact anyone besides the two (consenting) adults who act. But even that line would blur at some point.

I feel for both of them, what a quandary they have found themselves in. I don't think there exists a middle ground. The only thing that is possible is introspection to determine what moral and immoral mean to each of them - how far are they willing to push themselves and what are the compromises they are ready to make?

Also - this is my fav line in the update: He is angered at his own subtle dominance over her even when he was plaintively asking her to take reins. *clap clap clap* 👏 It was an irony I almost missed - thank you for pointing it out.

What a treasure of a story I have stumbled upon today. When reading your stories, I know in my heart of hearts that my bones will be rattled, displaced and jumbled back together in the length of one update, yet this story is another ideology altogether. In a society where 'sex sells' and we are surrounded by sexualised content in popular media and otherwise, our inherent prudishness denies our tongues to converse of... Sex. Strange isn't it?Powerplay in the bedroom comes from as Arnav says the consensus of two adults exploring something which breaks their usual moulds and boundaries to be someone else with the comfort of the person they love and trust. Similarly I can empathise with Khushi. How can causing the one you love pain, induce pleasure?
It is in my opinion ultimately about trust. Trusting the one you love and releasing yourself from every inhibition into someone else's hold. Yet does one want that level of power with something so precious? What if you overstep a mark before you even begin? I can sympathise, theorise and pick apart the ideas until the cows come home, but the answers are as complex as the question and the storywriter...

Love your approach...As long as the couple are on the same page it's okay . But here I feel Khushi is in some way persuaded to do things which she is not comfortable with. Eager to see how you are gonna take this story...waiting ...

Khushi is too bound by rules and regulations in society.
Her sense of morality must have been shaken by what happened brtween her and Arnav.
One can understand her point of view.
And Arnav's belief that maybe she did it to please him.
Maybe it didnot give her the pleadure it gave him.
Or maybe it did at that moment, but now in retrospection she is ashamed of what she did.
They definitely need to talk it out.
And not with others please.
They need to sit together and discuss what they want and expect from each other and what the other is comfortable doing.
Another great write from you, RB.
How long how you been writing on IF now?
I was just wondering.

Omg RB! I think you may have hit the dilemma some of the traditionally brought up girls face when exposed to the intimacy that deviates from the norm. kushi was so good at the beginning of the chapter and discussing their options openly but the red bruises brought those guilty feelings to the forefront about morality. What is morality though? It is what society defines as to be normal? Do we always have to toe the line and do what is 'normal'? I married a non-Indian man and he was very accommodating of my 'morals' but I simply loved it when I was tested on those and felt like I wanted to discover more. What goes on between a couple should stay there as long as they can clearly and freely communicate their positions and feelings on what they are engaging in? Though I do not like Mr. Grey, I found his contract kinda laid it all on the line for Anastasia. I hate that contract btw as it felt very one sided. I am not suggesting a contract for these 2 but like Arnav, I wish Kushi can open up a little bit more about the right or wrong ideas in her head. He cannot address them unless she tells him what is bothering her. He already came to the wrong conclusion that she is just doing this for his own pleasure only as opposed to her getting any. This Arnav is so open in his thoughts and talks. I don't want him to shut up. Hell, this is the most verbose and feeling Arnav I have read about. Come on Kushi, tell your husband what is bothering you because the social networking sites and Google are not going to answer those. Neither will the sisterhood in the house she is living in.
You brought up a great topic on the morality feeling. this would be a great debating topic.

Btw, I agree with Sandhya, use the silk dupattas next time.

Couple of things:

Khushi knows, understands and accepts what Arnav wants. Arnav says it couple of times where they have laid out the rules, boundaries and safe words. If Arnav hasn't uttered his safe word, it means he is fine with whatever that's going on. That's not the issue here. The main problem Khushi is that she is in this position where she enjoys what she is doing but she has seen only egalitarian relationships around her thus contradicting her moral standards. She finds her enjoyment to be immoral. She finds Arnav's enjoyment in whatever they played out to be deviant and immoral.

Its a conflict within herself and no amount of talking to people or even Arnav will help. Have you ever been in a space where you have so many facts in front of you and you have to formulate an opinion? Its the first time you are dealing with the subject and every fact that's presented to you is contradicting what you have learned. Imagine Khushi to be in that exact same position. She has to assimilate her thoughts again and come to a decision before going forward.

If she talks to Arnav its worse possible thing that can happen and Arnav mentions exactly that. He has neatly analyzed what Khushi's problem is and has come to a conclusion of his own. I wont tell you if his conclusion are right but his analysis of Khushi is pretty much spot on.

Hope this clarification helps :-)

I like the fact that Arnav makes it clear that rules and boundaries can be and have been established..

Khushi still feels apprehensive about stepping into the unknown, No matter how much she reads about it, to experience it is to truly know what they are engaging in. Is she confused by the fact that she does enjoy it , but her understanding of intimacy was that of gentle caresses not pleasure invoked by pain..

My many questions in my mind range from what if she tells him she no longer wants to engage in this form of intimacy.. will she be left feeling an inadequate partner.. will it affect her self esteem, will Arnav accept it, will it affect the dynamics of their relationship..

Brilliant
So this turns out little bad afterwords.
How can Khushi be wrong she tried and not to forget from where she comes, still she did that for him. And it's a great thing for. But she is innocent in these arrangement, how can arnav think that it will work in one day.
Arnav should talk to her. He is coming to conclusion without knowing her side.
I feel sad that arnav was not there by her side in the morning. Don't know what she will make out of this. What will be his reaction next. Will this effect their relation.
Loved the update.

You are right it is an internal conflict for her that she needs to come to a decision herself. How does she feel during their activities? Is she getting anything out of it or is it purely his gratification? Does the self-questioning happens after the act or during? Why am I analyzing her? As usual, you have presented another very different line to mull over and I love it when you challenge our brain cells.
