Chapter 2
Khushi was a very in-depended sort of a girl she had no choice in the matter, from a young age it was up to her to fend for her family, responsibilities of running a business looking after an ill father and then eventually her bua passing away. She had been through a hell of a lot, and today stood as a strong young lady, innocent but hardworking, appreciative and admirable in every respect so it was second nature for her to find herself a task instead of enjoying the luxuries of her new home whilst nani and Anjali were away.
Shaantivaan was silent, nobody but Khushi, Anjali had called earlier on in the day noting her of having got to their destination safely and that was that.
The only thing that came to mind for Khushi after waking up early morning and spending a little time in the prayer room was the kitchen. She loved to cook and was probably a good idea to start learning what and where things were and no doubt there would be some unusual bits of technology she had never used. It was exactly as she expected, chrome and silver finishing's, everything sparkling a kitchen like no other she had ever seen. She opened up various drawers and gadgets..it all seemed quite straight forward she thought and the things that weren't - well she would work them out.

Meanwhile the plane that Arnav Singh Raizada is on is on was not long off landing in Delhi , Sitting in business class slouched back in the chair ASR having been asleep the last few hours is stirred by the announcement. Opening his eyes gradually as he sits up he notices the air hostess approaching with his requested cup of coffee. ASR travelled often and the staff were pretty much accustomed to him by now and this air hostess was one of those who seemed rather familiar. She had been assigned to ASR on many a journey yet she seemed to not replicate the familiarity this time around and that wasn't an issue of course yet after she left ASR looked at his reflection in the dormant tablet TV screen in front of his chair. He did look a lot different to when he had left a month or so back. His hair had grown a little longer and his beard well that covered the significant potion of his face. He seemed to have taken on the younger Arnav Singh Raizada look. A casual polo shirt and trousers very different from how people were accustomed to him in Delhi but it didn't bother him.

Back in Shaantivaan the kitchen seemed to have everything but the essential, fruit and veg and it wasn't long before Khushi found herself out in the streets in search of a market stall. Of course the guards of Shaantivan advised her to wait for the driver who was due to start his shift in an hour or so but Khushi was Khushi she preferred to do things herself and according to her there was no fun in sitting in an air condition car. A journey was nicer on foot. In no time at all Khushi had reached the market she was looking for on foot and was side tracked by many a things from the pani puri stall, the the chat wala, the bangle stall and ice pop sales man all the little things Khushi loved.!
It was soon enough mid day without realizing how much time she had spent out in the sunshine her aching feet told Khushi it was time to go home. Carrying two quite hefty bags after getting some way it was clear Khushi would need a rickshaw.
...
It didn't matter who you were at Airport customs the wait was long and looking like he did no one was going to give him the benefit of the doubt of being ASR or did he want them to. He waited like everyone else, first to get off the plane, then for his luggage and now outside the airport because the driver Aman had sent was late.
Naturally he was getting impatient and no one picked up the phone at Raizada house nor did the house hold driver answer nor Aman he had enough. A taxi would do.
Not someone who was used to travelling in public transport, ASR wasn't one to look down on it either. He had worked hard for his lifestyle and appreciated others that did.
Ten minutes or so into the journey and although not so good for the passenger it was good business sense for the taxi driver to get into the car as many passengers as possible and so when the car took to a halt and the driver began to bargain with an female voice out of the window of the taxi ASR didn't bother to look up from his phone and email. Not even when the girl got into the car and took a seat next to him did he bother to look to his side. It was only when the word Shaantivaan was mentioned as her destination did ASR take note of the girl sat a distance away from him. If his memory served him right then she Khushi but before he could even recall whom she was he found himself dumbstruck by her for a moment.
It wasn't that he hadnt' seen prettier girls it was that this girl seem to having something special about her that hooked him. Her hair was a little frazzled where strands of it sat it in the wrong place, the sides of her mouth were stained with syrup but there was something special about her. Something genuine something that drew his attention towards her. It wasn't long before she caught him looking at her, she simply turned a bit more towards him and smiled. When somebody smiled you smiled back that's just how it went. That was the first time he saw her in flesh, the girl in the picture. The girl in the conversations her nani would have now and again. The girl who was apparently his to be bride or bride or whatever it was.
She was innocently beautiful, one of those girls who had no idea how beautiful they were. Her honeycomb eyes, her smile, the milky completion of her skin were all the things ASR noticed in that moment but in a very gentleman like way. She wasn't a girl to be looked at that way she was girl to be admired.
It was only a miniscule of a moment. She looked away and so did he, his mind telling him that she was unaware of who he was and he was oblivious of what the situation was.
On the other hand Khushi too felt a strange sensation for a moment, the strangers eyes seemed to leave Khushi with an indescribable feeling..one she couldn't quite put her finger on but there was something about this man that left her thinking twice over him. There was no conversation throughout the journey. The taxi stopped outside Shaantivaan. ASR allowed Khushi to get out from her side of the car first, pay her bill and then after or moment or two he to did the same.
Orchestrated this way on purpose of course by ASR who was evaluating circumstances. As far as Khushi was concerned the man was a stranger. Carrying her bags, trying to balance them whilst she trundled towards the house she noticed the sound of footsteps following.
Her eyes attentive of the footsteps behind her at first, as dramatic as she was by nature her first thought was that she was being stalked, ASR noticed the way she seemed to be walking a little wary of him behind and found It amusing. But soon enough Khushi who was routing for what looked like a house key in her bag decided to confront the stranger that followed her to the door of the house.
ASR noticed how Khushi seemed to have a house key and that was a clue that Khushi wasn't just a visitor she had been given a place in the house. Any normal person would be astounded but ASR wasn't. He knew his sister well and his grandmother something like this was right up their street. "Aap ..hariprakash hai.naa .? " ("you must be Hariprakash.")
His expression at first quite expressive, she thought he was Hp.? He was the god dam soul landlord of the land she was standing on, the house she was about to enter .., the Hp she thought he was everything, technically she was his! - his ego was hurt for a moment no doubt but the innocence in which she queried who he was made him forgive the misunderstanding. She wasn't to know.
He looked a little employee like with his beard, tshirt and rucksack so he let her off.
Now it was up to him to decide... either introduce himself or just go along with the implications. ASR wasn't a mind not to reckon with, he was intrigued by this girl, after all she was supposedly his bride, his family obviously expected him to accept her something he was reluctant to do up until now because he had no plans to marry, marry anyone for that matter put this girl seemed to have sparked intrigue in him.
She wasn't like other girls, she was different and maybe that's what led to his decision. An unusual decision for the likes of ASR, the decision to give someone the benefit of the doubt maybe because instead of seeing purpose in Khushis eyes he saw innocence, purity and something very fragile that he wanted to preserve even if this was the first time they had met. "Di ne kaha tha aap ayenge.. " (di said you'd be here) She was still talking about Hp as ASR turned back into what she was saying and watched, her extended her hand toward him with a smile. "Ham Khushi hai..aap se mil kar khushi hui" (I'm Khushi I'm happy to have met you. ) Amused by the clever remark in her words, yet another demonstration of how innocent this girl seemed ASR bought forward his hand for a handshake.
...
It was the first time someone was giving him a job to do in his own house, even when they did it was more of a please ASR can you help with X,Y OR Z, this however was a little different not impolite just different. She mentioned something about the garden and then walked off towards the kitchen with her bags. Walking towards his room, the minuet ASR walked in and dropped his bags It was clear that his space had been used by another, it was only the odd little things but it was someone else's presence in his room non the less. Running his hands through his hair, he contemplated on the situation for a moment with a sigh.

With no one else around the house Khushi only had so called Hariprakash' for company. Watching him work in the garden she thought of making conversation and maybe giving him a hand.
"Aaap aur kya kaam karte hai..?" ("So what else do you do around the house?")
Never having had to answer anything from another persons point of view this way his words seemed to be a little unsure to begin with. "Erm ... I look after the house, fix things.."
Khushi talked about a hell of a lot of things, she just went on and on, she liked to talked was ASR's first observation and he responded to some of the questions when she gave him the chance. Most of it was just him listening and her talking until the very end when this next question seemed to come after some thought. "Atcha aap se ek baat phuche.. aap ke saab kaise hai..?" "huh?" was the initial response it wasn't quite clear what she was asking him at first, it was maybe the words she had used but after a moment he seemed to understand what she was asking him.
