A twist of Events Ch. 30 Teaser

She walked down the now familiar, dark road. The eerie, uncanny silence which would once send tremors of fear and dread through her body no longer bothered her. The sinister swish of the leafless trees which would once remind her of long, crooked fingers now went unnoticed. The howl of the cold night wind which would once signify the raging of the Gods in her mind was no longer unsettling. The ominous darkness of the path no longer daunting. All this and more made for quite a disturbing scene but these were the things that now went disregarded, as she was now accustomed to it, having been coming here frequently for quite some time now. And anyways, what was there to be afraid of anymore in this world? Once everything you loved had been snatched away from you, what was there left to be afraid of?

She continued down the rugged trail until she reached the old, squeaky iron gates. The wind whooshed past her and she felt goose bumps prickle her skin as she touched the cold metal rod. She clutched her plain white chiffon saree closer to herself, wrapping herself into the little warmth it could offer. But it was not the cold that perturbed her, rather the hooded whispers of the souls around her that sent chills through her body. She took in a deep breath and looked up at the sign on the gate:
