If one looked at Arnav Singh Raizada, he would downright tag him as the most rude and arrogant man anyone had ever seen on the face of this earth. Well, he was but only for the world outside. If someone saw him how he was with his family, he would die of shock or be traumatized for life. His family was everything for him and vice versa. At such young age, while his friends were still seeking promotions, he had managed to make a name for himself in the society. He was 23, when he got graduated with a fashion degree and instead of working under someone else, he had started his own business. He had begun with taking a loan from a bank, refusing his father's help and had set up a website where he had given his designs. Once the orders started coming in, he had hired the required staff and had the clothes delivered. When people had started recognizing his work, he had rented a small boutique and placed his collections over there. He had participated in a fashion show as a freelance and had won it, the prize being a year contract with large scale fashion houses. And then there was no stopping. Slowly and gradually he had made his way to being called the king of fashion- ASR. Now he owned not only over hundreds of outlets in India but was also internationally recognized and had set up a few branches of AR in foreign countries, only in the span of 9 years. He had seen tears glistening in his father's eyes and the look of I-want-to-be-like-you-someday in his brother and son's eyes every time he won an award or on any of his achievements and had thought that there was nothing else he could want. He was content with his life! His mother had died when he was only 7 while giving birth to Dhruv so he didn't remember much of her but he hadn't taken her death in a negative way. He cherished the lovely memories he had of her and kept them close to his heart.
Aarav was Akash and Payal's son. Akash was just another friend of his from college, not best friend but a good one who would call every now and then to ask how he was and meet him up for coffees. Arnav had been to his wedding and had liked Payal. They looked like in so much love with all the blushing and grinning from ear to ear. After a year, he had come to know that they were blessed with a baby but couldn't meet them and had congratulated them over the phone because of his busy schedule. It was the same time, his business was being flourished that he had to come that Akash and Payal had died in an accident and left their baby alone in this world. He had rushed to meet Akash's extended family as Akash was an orphan but was astonished to know that they were sending his baby to the orphanage. He had felt rage and disgust at their thinking and hadn't even taken a minute to decide that he'll take care of Aarav. He had filed his case immediately for adoption and had used his every power to adopt Aarav as it was tad bit difficult owing to his single status. From then till now, Aarav had been the life of Raizada house. His dad and dhruv didn't take even a single second to open their arms and welcome the little bundle of joy who was a year old then. And he had taken up the role of a single father very well. Staying up at nights while working, he had also patted Aarav to sleep and fed him at odd hours of night. But he didn't complain for he loved the child. At the age of 8, Akash's mami had come and created a scene about how he was keeping them away from their kid. He had thrown them out and made sure they suffered every bit of their life from then for making his son cry. He had hugged Aarav and explained to him how he wasn't his real father. The boy had only looked into his eyes with his own teary and said with so much conviction and honesty that it made Arnav feel like he was the luckiest person in this whole world. "I don't care. For me, you are my dad and everything." He had said.
For Arnav, love was an overrated feeling. It only happened in movies, definitely not in real lives. True, he had dated many girls but never had he felt like he wouldn't be able to live without her. Some were gold digger and some wanted to be Mrs. ASR. But he had made it clear the very first day that he would never and ever commit to them. Wives were nagging, clingy and annoying and it was the last thing he needed to disturb his peace. Definitely not a liability in the name of wife. Some assumed that he was dumped by the love of his life who married someone else, some thought he had a bad past in which his parents' marriage was involved. He just shook his head at those stupid people and continued to live his life. Who cared about what anyone thought? He wasn't the Shahid Kapoor of Jab we met nor was he some love deprived child who had seen the broken marriage of his parents. They were happy together and that's that. He just thought that falling in love and marrying anyone was not his cup of tea. Period!
But it was until Khushi came. He was introduced to her and her family over a dinner at their place and he came to know that she was a successful lawyer at the age of 28. He wouldn't deny that he liked her for the independent and strong woman she was rather than someone who would let her education go down the drain to be a devoted housewife .He was aware of the rapport she shared with his family. His dad and she would spent hours talking about Lucknow and its culture. His brother and she would talk about the latest trends in clothing and would often sneak out at nights to have ice creams with Aarav. Aarav and she was inseparable. He was actually shocked to find out the last one because Aarav was anything but open with anyone other than his own family or few of his close friends but this Khushi di was someone who made an exception. When his father had proposed that he marries Khushi, he had denied it out rightly. But then he had seen how happy his family was around Khushi and when Aarav had asked him to bring Khushi as his mother in this house, he had taken the decision but had also been certain that it would only be for his family not for himself. In the wedding festivities, he had tried to talk to Khushi but every now and then she was surrounded by one or the other family members and couldn't. When he had said that she was everything his house needed, it was true and he had meant that. However, until his wedding night he had never felt so guilty in whole life like Khushi had made him. He knew he was acting like a jerk, thinking only about his family's happiness when he should have thought about her too. He had apologized to her but he knew that it wasn't enough. He would have to do something soon to make this right!
