Chapter 5: Apprehensive & Terrified
Randhir's P.O.V
I couldn't believe my ears when Kaustuki mentioned my Sanyukta was missing. To make things worse, we had been ignoring each other for the past one week so I had no clue where she could be. Kaustuki to fetched Jiggy and explain the whole situation to while I texted Yoyo & Sahil asking about Sanyukta. The replies came abruptly, both of them not knowing anything about her. That's it. I couldn't wait anymore; I had to take of my bike and leave ASAP to know about her whereabouts. It was 7.00 PM and we could only stay out till 9.00PM. Not being in college before that can land her into huge trouble. Informing Vardhaan Sir would be a stupidity, she could get rusticated. According to Kaustuki, she had left for market so my main targert was to reach the market. Sahil left to check all the bus stops while Yoyo & Gang was searching all the possible streets near FITE. Jiggy & Kaustuki back in the college were trying to locate her mobile phone.
The only person whom I had not approached was Parth. Well he mainly was the reason why I fought with Sanyukta these days. The guy just appeared out of blues and was now BFF with Sanyukta. And that stupid girl! Just befriended anyone who was sugar-coated enough, such a girl! He took my place. They worked, fought, gabbed, chilled, and laughed together. But nobody could take her away just like that. I took my sweet revenges time-to-time. Locking him inside the archive room; making him late for PKC's class, putting glue on his reading chair; where his best pair of jeans had to be ripped, pouring sugar syrup in his shampoobottle; causing great hair loss. I wanted to show Sanyukta how careless her new besite was, but no, she still defended him. I hated this guy to core now. Nobody took what the great MCP owned but oh well, he will learn his lesson. He already is fed up with FITE, his frustration these days clearly hints it.
I stopped my bike to pick my phone that started vibrating.
"Bol Jiggy"
Hello Randhir Bhai, who Bhai maine abhi room check kiya. Parth bhe college me nahin hai. Nafis ne kaha ke Parth sham class cancel honey ke baad room me gaya tha but phir kuch der baad college se bahar chala gaya."
"Oh God, mujhe pehle he check kar lena chahea tha. Yeh Agarwal bhi zaror usi ke saath hogi"
"Nahi Randhir Bhai Nafis se maine poocha. Usne kaha Parth college se akela hi nikla tha. Haan Sanyukta ke janey ke kuch der baad apni bike pe nikla tha aur Kaustuki bata rahi thi ke Sanyukta bus me gai the. Phir who dono kese ek sath ho sakte hain?"
"Haan Jiggy yeh to hai. Chal Sanyukta ka phione track karta reh. Aur agar koi bhe signal miley to mujhe inform kar dena"
"OK Randhir Bhai. In a bit"
"Yeah In a bit"
I was utterly worried now. If she was not with him, where could she be?
"I just hope she's safe"
The weather was dreadful, it was pouring heavily and the thunderstorms was rapidly growing. I had to find her soon. She could fall ill. I know how sensitive she was to cold weather.
I was very near the market now. That was when something on one side of the road caught my eyes, the realisation struck me hard. It was a very familiar hand bag. Not just familiar, it was Sanyukta's handbag! I picked it up, only to discover the mobile phone inside it. Something on it diverted my attention from everything else. Even in this hazy light, it was clear. It was a bloodstain. Yes, a bloodstain, a splash, even the rain couldn't rinse it away. Suddenly, a hot drop of tear leaked through my eye. There was no doubt that Sanyukta was in trouble. My frustration had swelled up my heart. My eyes were blurry with the tears of apprehension.
"Sanyuktaaa" a shriek escaped my throat and echoed back. I couldn't take it anymore. I had to find her!
...
Sanyukta's P.O.V
This could not be happening. Rubbish, this isn't even real. How can I doubt my best friend? I surely had lost it. But what could he be doing here at this hour? Obviously looking for you idiot' shouted my heart. But nowhere on earth would he know that you are here Sanyukta, he couldn't have tracked your phone, you dropped it remember?' my brain shot back. My inner turmoil gave me an adrenaline rush. I need to test him out.
"Hey listen, I just need to dry up my clothes. I'll be right back. Please don't leave me OK?" I informed Parth.
"OK but make sure you return soon. Listen, this factory is old and the right side of the factory is not in such a great condition. So make sure you go to the left side. There are plenty of rooms where you could choose one to dry up" Parth said dryly.
I left to dry up my clothes. The cold was driving me crazy. That's when the realisation struck me hard. How come he knew so much about the factory if he was only passing by? Surely something was fishy. I always had a habit of doing anything that I was forbidden to do so. I ran away from my house only to become a mechanical engineer despite my father's disliking. I messed with Randhir despite him repeating his same old dialogue "Don't Mess With Me". I took up the tequila 5 shots challenge despite Kaustuki stopping me. I still hung out with Parth despite Vidushi's warnings. I decided to take right instead of left.
No one's P.O.V
The rooms on the right looked alright. In a bad condition but that was due to abandonation. The old machines, iron rods and rusty old sports equipments were left to rot. The smell was not so woody even though woods mostly occupied the place. As she neared the offices on her right side, a strong foul decaying smell reached her nose. She quickly covered her mouth, breathing in her shirt. She opened the Manager's office as this was where the smell was coming off from. The room was frighteningly dark. She could only touch to feel where she was headed to. That's when her feet caught something and she landed on a stiff bag. The lightening struck outside; steaking through the broken roof, revealing what was laying there. Sanyukta shrieked as soon as she saw it. She jumped up, crushing into a glass door.
It was not a bag or a piece of furniture that lay there. It was a corpse, that too of Vidushi! Left to be decayed so that no one would ever know...
Sanyukta ran as fast as her injured feet could take it. "Parth" she cried out loud as soon as she bumped into him.
"Sshhh Sanyukta. What happened?"
"Parth w.. wh... woh Vid... Vidushi... andar"
And that's when she noticed Parth's eyes turning hard.
"Shut the hell up Sanyukta. I've had enough of you now" Parth roared back
"Parth... I saw her... I swear... She... Parth..."
"Alright then! If you've seen Vidushi, I think it's time for you to be with her" replied Parth immorally.
The surrounding was at its darkest. All the fears had come true. Before she could realise it
"Randhirrr" escaped a shrill. It was now or never.
