Burning: Part 6

Perspire. Oh how Sanyukta hated that word right now. She was in Delhi and it was burning hot. If she wasn't in college, she would probably be in the shower the whole day without caring about the effects it would have on the environment. Or she would sit in a swimming pool. The only alternative possible currently was sitting in an air conditioned class room but Randhir Singh Shekawat was making it difficult for her.

He was still sleeping. The lab was getting hotter by the minute and he refused to wake up. Deciding she was done burning in the heat, she woke him up.

"What the hell! Why the heck is my hair drenched?" he asked her, finding water dripping from his head.

"There's something called sweat glands in our body, which tend to work when it's hot because it helps to cool our body. I hope you find my explanation satisfactory. Now good bye, I have to take a long bath because I'm not only sweaty because of my sweat but yours too since you thought I am the perfect pillow for you," she said and stood up, straightening her clothes and picking up her bag.

"Sanyukta, wait," he said, catching hold of her hand, "thank you."

She lifted her hand to his forehead, checking his temperature and asked him, "Randhir? Did the heat go into your brain and magically cause fever? You're actually saying thanks?"

"No Sanyukta, can't you believe for once that I'm being genuine. It's the best night's sleep I had in a long time, honestly," he told her, rendering Sanyukta speechless.

"You're welcome, I guess," Sanyukta stuttered. Her guilt turned into anger when she saw Randhir laughing at her, his eyes, twinkling with joy.

"Oh my," he said, stopping to take a breather from laughing, "Sanyukta Aga"arwal is not ab-le to spe-eak. I can't believe this."

Burning with rage, Sanyukta kicked him. She kicked him where it hurt the most and said, "Now we'll see who can't speak Randhir Singh Shekawat. I'll be surprised if the pain even lets you move."

"Stop bloody smirking Farzi," he yelled, jumping around, trying to control the pain, but failing miserably.

"Aw, Randhir is hurt? Do you want some ice to stop the burning sensation?" she asked him like she would ask a five year old kid, a sickly sweet smile plastered on her face.

"Shut up and get those ice cubes quickly Sanyukta or else-," he said and then stopped speaking.

"Now that we've established that you have no choice left, say thank you genuinely and only then will I go and get the ice pack. The quicker you're done with it, the better," she told him, still smiling.

Realizing that the only way to get rid of this pain is to apologize and say thank you, he did it. Dil pe patthar rakh ke,' people called it in Hindi. It was proving to be true. With much difficulty he said, "I'm very sorry Sanyukta for trying to prank you and thank you so very much for letting me sleep."

"I wanted only the thanks but you've apologized as well, good job. Good bye and good luck finding the ice, it must be somewhere around," she said and waved to him, leaving the lab.

"Sanyukta," he screamed desperately. A minute later, he was frantically searching for the ice pack.

I know, a long A/N's due.
I won't apologize for updating late, it's all Aishu's fault. Kisiko bhi gaali dena ho toh usko do. 🤣
Secondly, the size of this update is short, but I will update sooner the next time around, so bear with it.
