Chapter 1

Life. It's something precious. Something priceless. And when you save a life , the feeling you get is inexplicable. Even after so many successful surgeries the feeling of saving a life for her was something she'd always feel elated about. But being a doctor had it's demerits too. There were times when she had lost her patients. And the rotten feeling of not being able to save someone even after trying your level best is again something which cannot be explained

These lines are - LOVE. It's probably, in a twisted manner, what I want to do. I want to get justice to victim's family and victim themselves. The happiness I'll be experiencing then, seeing them smile because of me is something that drives me to fight with my family to pursue psychology. This is something I can completely relate to. Also the fact that sometimes I may be late in my task and that may risk someone's life makes me shudder at the thought of it. The thing which excites us the most in life is the only thing that can bring us down, beyond repair.

The sense of failure and defeat in their eyes when she had told them that their little girl would possibly not survive had made her feel like a loser. She was agitated that even after so much of studying she couldn't save the life of a five year old. The baby hadn't even seen the better part of the world and was going through so much of pain when she should have been enjoying at school with her friends.

I literally feel this girl so much now. Whenever I fail to help my closed ones or the one in need, I feel so angry at myself for being so helpless, unable to get them out of their misery. The feeling suffocates you, to an extent that coming back is not even possible. Here, it's a baby of 5 years, the mere sentence brews up undeniable empathy we feel towards this girl and child.

Tired. Defeated. Broken. Shattered. Frustrated. These are those few of the feelings she must have felt then not being able to save the kid. That one life, which apparently doesn't even know the meaning of life, is such an innocent soul, is going to loose her life. Not being able to save her makes her loathe all the degree she earned when she couldn't help the girl. You have beautifully portrayed feelings of Riddhima. It reminds me of that accident and baby I told you about.

"Mr.Banerjee.?" She called out to the kid's father with a big smile on her face. Mr.Banerjee seemed to come out of his trance as the worry lines on his forehead were replaced by a slight unsure smile on his face. His eyes were getting teary. He closed his eyes for a moment trying to make peace with his overworked mind and settled himself on the bench in the waiting room. Looking up at her standing beside him with a smile and a nod which indicated that his baby girl was now free from all the pain she had suffered made his unsure smile a little more bright.

"You go inform your wife Mr.Banerjee.. I'll see if you can meet her." He mouthed a small trembling thank you and watched her leave the waiting room.

Ah! The relief that must have graced a father knowing his daughter may live now. She won't suffer at the hands of life's cruelty. No dialogue, nothing. Mere words, none but words here justified how a father feels when his offspring fights for life and wins the war. I won't say much for I have no words to say. I love, love, love the way you portrayed the helpless father who found the lost ray of hope.

For someone completing her reports Riddhima looked way too much happy. Nothing could change her mood today she was sure of that.

Elated. Divide. Peaceful. Satisfied. Accomplished. This is what Riddhima must have felt then. And why wouldn't she, after all an impossible task turned out to be possible. The life for which she prayed earnestly was granted. The girl, for whom she worked day and night, loathed herself for not being able to save her emerged victorious in the ultimate battle.
