Oh come on. Explain please. I seriously don't get this! :x

I like your play on how the Arnav is in a potentially serious situation possibly effecting their livelihood, but his thoughts are far from morose. He has joy within him for small things like observing family interactions, idea of drinking coffee ..just because...

and the pieces of his world that he has distributed...what an absolutely balanced perspective!!!

Kudos!

Welcome back :-)

Yeah, its the perspective. Its simplistic because I can relate to it and real stuff is always simple, you know? Well its not something that's going to affect their livelihood but its a long term loss with a probable serious impact.

Arnav has come to a place where he rationalizes the situation and looks deeper than what's on surface. Happiness comes from acceptance rather than searching for something great.

Thanks :-)

CEO is a nice guy :-)

Chemistry? Not really. They are good friends if you see the subtext of their interaction. He isn't propositioning her but interacting on a peer level. Its fun to watch the way he displays his childish behavior which he wouldn't do had she not been his friend. :-)

3 Is there a moral and a societal imperative to always be the better person when you are well placed in a situation and you have to politely give a way out to the other party? Why can't I feel awesome about it and just gloat?

Have you heard of Stapp's Ironical paradox? It goes "The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle." Its most abstract (and non-romanticized way!) of saying "Everyday is a new day" or some drivel like that. With that as running theme, it doesn't come as a surprise that there is a user manual for every possible thing out there.
System is a sophisticated byproduct of amalgamation of many such manuals. So are the processes. Whether we like it or not is a different thing but it normalizes divergent thought processes and streamlines into a clear stream of necessitated output. This works wonders because irrespective of the mind behind the paper, the output is seemingly similar. In one perspective it looks like a collective consciousness at play while in another perspective, a higher mind is brought down to average while a below average mind is elevated. That's a conundrum we cannot escape and thats how a system gets built; be it political, origanizational, familial or even at a community level. I have to throw 'Regression to the mean' back at you because nature has a way to balance out things and it even permeates society which is consciously built by humans but is definitely driven by nature.

The manuals we come up are designed to make human life easy. Spend less time on mundane
activities and invest in building a better world. That has always been the case: progress. We are surrounded by an urgency to achieve something great by downplaying back-of-the-mind activities.

The difference lies in being an ebeniste and assembling an IKEA product.

This urgency has started to consume all of us and has its roots in the moment the pre-historic man took a bone in his hand and gripped it tight. Progress is in our nature. The unyielding tug in our gut to push our mind to strive for betterment is now carved in our bones. Its in our nature to design and live for the better.

However no one really knows what really "better" is. We simply roll with it. *shrugs*

Its ironic that you are the one to talk about words; you, who treat words are like an expensive commodity that cannot be shared with mere mortals. The words aren't tainted Mr. Raizada but we are. Words are tools, words give you power. How you wield it is in your hands. Everything humanity touches somehow ends up working against humanity and becomes a weapon on its own regard. Words are no less than that. The words that were spoken as a promise don't match the intent behind the words. They appear in legal document that can give authority to a person who never thought they would see it in their lifetime. Don't blame words for intent of a man. Boundaries you say? Its an imaginary line drawn over imaginary sense of possession. Compromises exists but they aren't forever. Words don't compromise. Contexts do.

So please.
Don't blame words.Blame urgency to succeed. Blame relentless quench for fame. Blame obsession for power. Blame insatiable need for growth. Blame pushing boundaries of morality farther and farther from humanity. Blame me. Blame yourself. Blame us.

- K (totally exhausted after sixteen hour flight and bawling my eyes out after reading yet another- I-survive-deadly-disease novel.)

PS: I am VP of operations jackass, not an electrician. Go complain to your secretary or something. And next time you feel hot, try shed few layers of clothing. Do you really need a three piece suit in a tropical weather like this, weirdo?

PPS: You totally stole that poem from someone, didn't you? You are Broody McBroody. You shouldn't be able write stuff like that. It makes my cheeks tingly.
Did you glare at everyone for one week after pouring a spoonful of angst (taken right out of frosted jar-of-angst you hide under your bed) in your previous letter?

PPPS: If you think the little snippet I wrote is erotica, you are still wet behind your ears. Let aunty Khushi educate you. *rubs hands with evil glint in eyes*

So true - there is a good and a bad side to everything. An average mind with the ability to follow orders and the norms of the system is more employable than a mind that is perhaps more efficient but has issues with subservience. The system also often chalks out a circle of "normalcy" - everyone inside the system looks the same, and it is assumed that those outside the circle ought to envy the ones inside it.

Now how far all this helps to build a "better world" is questionable. Better - for whom ?

But, the fact that progress is an evolutionary trait intrinsic to the human kind is true. Which is why I find the very basis of Socialism unreal - it goes against the nature of man.

"Words don't compromise. Contexts do."

Oh you genie, genius! I am going to quote you on that one in future. It's the whole world of literary theory put into 5 words.

She wants him to blame herself and the mankind for what? For following instincts, or for being insincere with promises? Or the fact that their world often ceases to exist beyond themselves ?

Thank you for writing this stuff, seriously. I feel alive 😃

PS - I might come back with more :)

Normalization is a knee jerk reaction when an small company starts looking at itself like an large organization. Rationalization happens and averages out the collective intelligence. To achieve that, processes are required. Its standardizing a response and that's how nature works too. All the kinks are evened out with passing eras.

Social norms work exactly the same way. A person may stand out in the group for what he or she is. It need not always be at an intellectual level but the way they would react to the surrounding. Intelligence is only a part of reaction; there is nurture, biological imperative and inherent analytical ability.

While Arnav is pragmatic, Khushi is realistic. Her sentences are clipped and its like throwing a bucket of water at someone. It just splashes and its all over. Arnav is quite the opposite. He articulates in his own enigmatic fashion which affects Khushi; sub-textually, of course :-)

Or you can say that they are two pretentious people passing time during stress inducing times in their lives :=)

That's what Khushi asks - what is "better"? Is my feeling better same as your feeling better? You might say conquering a deadly disease is better while I say going to the moon is better when there are millions dying of poverty? Is that all there is to it?

In a way you do have a point. Progress doesn't wait for definition. It just happens. Its more like "Oh, I did this and its done. Now lets do that next." That's how we move forward.

Wow...this is golden!
Dictionary is in our hands...Intent and words, we confuse them often, what are our intentions and what we say and what we finally do..the end result is nearly what we thought!
If only it could be as simple and life could be a podium where intentions (that are a key point) don't get manipulated by words! And then we blame words..

Khushi wow..you and Mr CEO, have lots to discuss! Maybe during coffee...
