Part 22

Hospital

Khushi had no idea why he had got her to the Hospital now? She still had 4 weeks to go for the baby to be born. He helped her till the elevator and then both entered inside. He pressed the 6th floor and she couldnt help asking him where they are going.

Arnav: Patience Khushi. Have patience.

He didnt wish to break the surprise he planned for them. She wanted to trust him and hence didnt ignore his response. They came out of the elevator on the 6th floor and he took her to a VIP Private ward opening the door for her. The room was vaccant and she again had many questions for him. But before she could ask, he cleared everything one by one.

Arnav : This is where you and the baby will stay after the delivery till you both are fit and fine to get back home. I have pre booked this room for you . Its the best room in this Hospital Khushi. Did you like it?

Khushi's expressions were worth reading. She had mixed feelings now. She was scared of her delivery day, she was confused about what her life would be after the baby is born and she also was judgemental about her relationship with Arnav because she was just his contracted wife and nothing else. Arnav here was acting very normal as if they were a proper couple having just love between them which in some sense was true but not fully

Seeing her tears he again sighed in disappointment and came towards her.

Arnav:Khushi har baat pe rona zaroori hai kya?

Khushi: You wont understand

She moved aside but he blocked her again.

Arnav: If I cant understand who else will ? I know something is bothering you Khushi. And you can tell me what is that.

Khushi: Thats why I said Arnav. You will never understand. Its very easy for you to react so happily because you are finally getting what you wanted. The payback is getting over. Your baby will come in this world and you will have him / her forever. And THE END. Thats your part of happiness . You will never realise what I am going through as the day is nearing. Everytime I wish to love my baby inside, I feel it wrong because I am sccared if I will get used to this. Even after carrying the baby for 9 whole months, I will have to detach myself forever.

She started sobbing and Arnav tried pulling her for a hug though she retorted . He still gave her a warm hug and she had to wrap her hands at his back to complete it even if she knew he was the reason of her problems. He caressed Khushi's back and whispered

Arnav: No one is detaching from the baby Khushi. Neither you nor me. We are going to raise the baby together.

He clearly stated his intentions to her. She pulled back gently from that hug and he cupped her face smiling.

Arnav: Dont be surprised because I am not in a playful mood. What I said is 100 percent true Khushi. I am not letting you go away. We are staying together even after the baby comes in this world. So you dont have to be tensed on this matter atleast. And rest all regarding the process of delivery, I will help you out in that as well. I know it will be painful but the moment you will see the baby in your arms, all that pain will ease off. Hai naa?

Each word he spoke to her today was surprising her. He decided this? When? Why? And how can he decide everything alone? Why does he want her after the Payback was over?

Arnav: Okay now smile and lets get back home. If you remember, tonight is the Godbharai function and I have promised Di to get you back on time. Come.

She was not in a position to question him anything even if she wanted to know why he made such a decision. He proudly held her shoulder and took her back towards the elevator.

Prachi couldnt come to the Godbharai because she was already messed up in her own personal problems and Divorce , even Shashi couldnt make here today as the business he started was very new and he had to concentrate fully on it. There was no one from Khushi's side yet the Raizada's gave her full support and love on this day ensuring she is happy all the time.

The Godbharai function had started but all this time Khushi was only thinking about the proposal from Arnav asking her to stay back with him and his baby. He never believed in marriage, he never believed in relationships, then why did he want her to continue this role? He will have the baby and he will be a good father too , so where is the need to keep her with him ? Was it because he had come to know she was desiring him? Was it because of their little intimate moments which they had some days back?

Or was it because he was asked to do so by his family members? Will he keep her with him as his wife forever? Will he marry her with full rituals? Will he really give her all rights of being his wife? And even if he does, will she be able to accept him as her husband and stay with him forever? Is this what she wanted? Will she forget all the things he made her go through for this payback so easily? She had many such questions in her mind which made her restless. She turned around to see her husband happily greeting the guests and forwarding them towards her for the blessings. Will this smile on his face last forever?

Few more days passed and now hardly 2 weeks left for her delivery date. Khushi didnt question back Arnav anything about his decision of keeping her with him and the baby forever. She was already going through much and she thought of clearing it with him only after the baby comes in this world. She thought of utilising all her time now in thinking about the baby and in taking care of herself as much as possible so that her baby is safe all the time. These were the days of extra precautions.

She had finally completed knitting the sweater for the baby. It was soft and delicate. She touched it gently and then kissed it once imagining the baby wearing it already. A smile appeared on her lips which soon faded and a tear drop fell down her eye. She hardly acknowledged her husband was inside and by now even sitting next to her and touching the sweater. When his fingers rubbed her wrists, she saw him and wiped off that tear mark from her face gulping down her pain. Arnav held the sweater in his hands .

Arnav: Its beautiful Khushi. This will be the first piece of cloth our baby will wear. I promise.

She smiled at his thought.

Khushi: Baby will need some sleep suits in the initial first weeks Arnav which should be clean and comfortable all the time.

Arnav held her hand and brought it to his lips kissing her knuckles. She gasped with this uninvited kiss and then opened her eyes to see him.

Arnav: I want to contribute in your delivery Process Khushi. Infact I have talked to the Dr already and she suggested me how can I be a part of this. I am going to cut the cord for the baby and make it independent in this world. I see this as a first right of my fatherhood. But only if you are Okay.

The thought of the baby seperating from her and becoming independent made her thoughts more worse because Arnav wished to do this while her delivery process . She became sentimental again and he didnt mind taking her in his arms again.

Arnav: Khushi what is disturbing you so much or is it still the hormone issue?

She didnt reply but her silence was not liked by him. He pulled her chin up and then kissed her forehead. All this was really soothing but she still couldnt deny she was going through a very emotional stage and needed HIM.. Only HIM to set everything right. She hugged him tight again and he allowed her to get the needed comfort in his arms. Sometimes there was hardly anything to speak, just gestures were enough to show the other they were needed. Arnav and Khushi stayed so for long and he broke the hug.

Arnav: THis is the last time you are crying Khushi. Its just 2 more weeks and I dont want you to be so much depressed. I promised to sort everything between us, didnt I? So if you trust me on that then stop thinking so much. Main sab theek kar dunga . Okay?

She didnt wanted to speak anything and hence just kept cuddling in his warmth and closed her eyes to sleep.

Finally the day came. Arnav was unfortunately in Office for some important work and got a call on his mobile in the middle of the meeting saying Khushi had started getting the sudden cramps and she was been taken to the Hospital. There was still a week more for her delivery date though. Nothing else reflected in his mind at that time due to the worry for his wife and baby. He left for the Hospital hurridly driving his car with full speed and reached there in no time

She was been taken to the ICU for delivering the baby and Arnav was waiting outside with his family to know if she was fine. The Dr came out .

Arnav: How is Khushi Dr?

Dr: This is getting complicated ASR. Her water broke and she is suffering severe cramps because the baby has turned around in her womb and probably also got entangled with the cord on neck. As you know this is not a normal delivery. We will have to operate her.

Arnav remembered how Khushi had told him she fears of this day. She was still a V**gin and her tissues had still not broken for this normal delivery process. Hence she was suffering a severe pain. He could hear Khushi scream again from the ICU and his heart started beating faster wishing to erase off that pain from her.

Arnav: Just operate her Dr.

Dr: Such cases are rare ASR and it may be that we will be able to save only one of them.

The Dr's tone lowered and the whole family stood numb looking at Arnav who was standing like a statue .

A lump of tears formed in his throat but he had to be strong.

Arnav: Save my Wife Dr. Save Khushi. I need her.

Everything he did was for the payback till now and for that baby. This was the first time he was actually realising who was more important for him. The Dr looked nervously to know if he was sure and he bursted out at her for wasting time like this.

Arnav: I said SAVE MY WIFE Dammit!!

He yelled in anger.
