Well where do I start with.? Firstly sorry for commenting so late. Secondly I am not going to give a long, detailed & elaborative comment like I usually do, coz I am not sure what I'd say & what I'd miss. So sorry for that as well.
Coming to the chapter, the first part constantly reminded me of 'Pride & Prejudice'. The party, the manner of convo between Arhi. I've read P&P so many times, I still do, somdtimes all & sometimes skipping to certain parts. I just can't get enough of it. I can see myself doing the same here.
Won't say much of Payal, just that one sentencen of her showed the person in love that she is,
"It's only him for me, no matter
what his faults are. That's
what...that's what love is." Everyone has their set of flaws. And we love them with that. Aakash has his, so will Arnav.
Two things, Arnav didn't exactly blackmail Khushi in marrying him. That was done by Payal, indirectly. And the reason wasn't exactly financial either. It was more about her dreams. Arnav chose her coz he thinks she is practical & won't get entangled in messy feelings & emotions. And he himself finds love immaterial & unrealistic & marriage a foolish institution. Its going to be interesting to see things change. Well not to forget he even asks if she would marry him just to make it official.
Arnav is going to US before time to avoid sleeping in the same room as her and he tells her that. He even asks if she has ever had sex! And we still don't know how he knew her surname? Seems he was attuned her beforehand.
Arnav is honest, blunt, despite the namesake marriage says will be faithful to her, believes to have no secrecy between them, tell her of his past calmly without flinching or being ashamed, and is utterly devoted to his family. Not to forget proud, arrogant and audacious.
Khushi on the other hand is of sacrifising nature, even now when she thinks she is being selfish, she is not. She is proud of her achievments, is practical when she asks of initial money arrangement, and later on holds onto her self-respect & honour denying the alimony. And she is like any normal girl at the end when she almost wishes for a real marriage with love and care.
Its going to be an intresting journey.
About the excerpt, what can I say? I never though myself complimenting such convo, even if I want to. But here I am compelled by you, saying I am loving it. Arnav is a pro at it and Khushi, well, how do I put it, she has that sharpness, unpredictableness & unexpectedness of a new one.
Despite saying I would give a short comment, I end up here and I am still not sure what I missed mentioning. I really loved & enjoyed reading it.
