No matter how many times she said no, it didn't seem to enter anyone's mind. It seemed no one was interested in what she was saying at all. Somehow she was going to get married within one week's time. Everything had been arranged by her mother and Arjun. But Sakshi wasn't sure at all about this relation. She loved Rohit, how could she marry his own brother.
Everything was too confusing for her. This time she decided to stop this masquerade before things went too wrong. But to her bad luck, it seems Arjun was avoiding her.
There was only one day left for the wedding, her mother was completely happy in the preparations. With the decision of Arjun, this time there'll only be a small wedding, where the strict minimum of relatives were being invited.
Sakshi was looking at her mum, and inside there was a great turmoil. Her mum really looked very happy, she hated wiping that smile from her face, but at the same time she couldn't marry Arjun. She didn't know why, but she didn't want to marry him.
What should she do? She decided to have a talk with Arjun before she really gets married to him. Without informing her mother of anything, and without even telling Arjun she was coming, she took her car and went to Arjun's place.
On arriving there, she found herself looking at a very brightly decorated place. It was supposed to be a quiet ceremony, yet looking at Arjun's house decorations, it seemed something grandiose.
For one second she was afraid, it was already late at night. Was she doing the right thing? But she had so many questions, that she felt she had to talk with Arjun. Taking a determined stance, she walked to the door and knocked on it.
Within a few seconds, it was opened and she found herself staring in a pair of dark eyes.
"Sakshi tum?" Arjun asked. He knew she was here to break the marriage. He had tried his best to avoid any confrontations with Sakshi till now. But now he had to resolve himself.
He led Sakshi to his study room, and made her sit down.
"Sakshi kya hua?" he asked while standing away from her.
"Arjun, you are a good guy, but I cant marry you!" Sakshi said directly.
Arjun frowned listening to her.
"What are you proposing Sakshi? Should I also run away?" Arjun said angrily.
Sakshi was shocked at Arjun's words, and she stammered not knowing what to say.
"I.. I mean I've been trying to talk to you. Besides I had refused from the very start!" Sakshi replied back.
"But maybe your refusal wasn't that heavy!" Arjun said sarcastically.
"I said no! I have no intention of marrying you! Did you understand!" Sakshi shouted at Arjun.
Arjun grimaced looking at Sakshi, but he couldn't lose control now. He decided to try another way, but in the end Sakshi would marry him.
"Why don't you wanna marry me?" Arjun asked gently.
"I don't, I mean I don't love you," Sakshi replied simply. For one second, she saw something pass through Arjun's eyes at her words, it was almost as if she had hurt him. But then soon nothing was visible on his face, and she thought maybe she had imagined things.
"Fine Sakshi. I accept you don't love me, but then what is love? You thought you loved Rohit. You believed Rohit loved you. Kya hua in the end? He left you nah!" Arjun hated seeing Sakshi's hurt face, but he had to be cruel for once, "While though you don't love me, you know I wont hurt you. I'm your friend!"
He came to stand where Sakshi was sitting, and pulled her up close to him.
"Poetic justice!" he said staring at her gently, "My brother left you, and now tomorrow it all depends on you what you wanna do! I'll be waiting for you in the mandap. The choice whether to come is yours! You can have your revenge tomorrow if you want."
He released her, and led her to the door.
"Sochlo, the choice is yours completely. Now return back, before anyone found you amiss in the house," he said while gently touching her cheek. Sakshi was too puzzled to say anything.
And then shocking Sakshi even more, he bent down and kissed her forehead.
"All I'm saying is trust me," Arjun said looking honestly in her eyes.
Arjun watched Sakshi leaving and hoped that tomorrow he wont be the one to be ditched now.
He wondered how this night will pass...
The next day, he was waiting in the mandir for the bride to come. However it was already half an hour late now. The relatives on is side were all looking at him in a strange way, and he could also hear that some was speculating whether he had been dumped or not.
Soon it was one hour, some relatives had already started to leave, when he heard a general silence among all. Then he heard the sound of someone wearing payals coming. He turned to see is bride finally coming. He couldn't believe that finally they were going to get married. He still remember the first time he had seen her. She had collided with him, and when he had seen her, and one look into her innocent eyes, he had fallen completely for her.
But before he could say anything, she had ran away. And now after almost one year, she was walking towards him, finally she'd be his.
Itni shiddat se maine tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai,
ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki koshish ki hai.
Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho,
toh poori kaynath tumhein usse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai...
She hadnt been able to run away, not from her responsibilities, or hurting her mother more, or even taking revenge on Arjun. He had never hurt her after all, infact since the start he had always helped her. He was her friend, it would be enough she said to herself as she walked towards him for the marriage.
Within two hours they were married and everyone was congratulating them. Sakshi would steal glances at her husband, and prayed everything would be ok as from now on.
