I was going to write regarding the "Shaadi" thread closure (even if temporary), but I guess Semanti beat me to it.
The author Juhi (expell) is a friend of mine and has not been online much. She has left a message to state as much on her thread, yet people are impatient and post requests for updates. This only goes to show how popular her story is.

I am not sure how she is responsible nor how she can stop it and how penalizing her helps...

Going on and on about the spamming rules is not going to do anything for anyone because point is that they won't change. If you have any questions or concerns about that, then you should contact the GM's Aahana, Gk_09 or *Shruti*.

Having said that, I would now like to give you options of what you can do to stop the spamming. Readers of all FF's greatly respect the writers of the FF's they read so I think if a writer wrote a note saying "hey guys please don't spam on this thread as it is against the rules." I am sure readers will stop doing that because they do listen to you as a writer. Why do I know this? Because many authors have done this, and it has worked. Your readers do respect you and don't want your threads to be closed, and if you ask them to stop...they will.

Along with that I suggest that you stop "Liking" comments that are just random spamming posts and encouraging people from going on. If Expel has the time to read every comment and "like" it, then she can take out a minute and post a note asking them to stop.

Asking for updates again and again by the same people and the conversations that go on...there is no need for that. Like we said before, use your scraps, PMs or chat clubs pertaining to your ff. Many authors have started their own chat thread in the chat club forum where readers can discuss, talk, do whatever they want on that thread.

We don't need 20 pages of just "update soon" comments on a thread. Instead if there is one or two comments like that, the other readers can just "like" that comment because that will ensure that the writer saw how many people want them to continue. We can let a few comments pass by but not pages and pages of them.

Lastly, I know many people think that we sit here and monitor each thread and pinpoint certain writers but that is not the case. It is actually members of IF that report your posts because they have trouble reading/finding parts to a fanfic due to all the spamming that goes on. We do not come across any of these threads until it is reported. Once it is reported, we have to look into it.

Hope this answers your questions.

Okay taking into account that I really don't want and don't wish to put myself in any kind of fire, still I want to say my POV, I know that readers' encouragement, appreciation, and reminder posts are really important and sometimes just a cause of them we "writers" are able to write the next chapter, but if there is a rule regarding to not to spam the thread with just posts like "please update" or "update soon" or "when are you updating/where is the update" which I know sometimes irritates we too much, but I think if they have kept this rule maybe behind it there is really a very important reason, which if I'm not wrong regards the control of the threads itself.

So I think maybe we (writes) can ask to our readers to slow down with the posts on our threads, and I think the readers will do it, because I did just once and they listened, plus frankly speaking, if I see too many peoples asking for an update I feel guilty which I don't want to feel, and I have resolved this problem with my scrap and inbox. I know this is also really irritating but at least it will solve the problem of spamming.

I didn't want to offend anyone, but I think we are responsible for our threads and I believe that we should make the possible in our hands to make sure that we or others(readers) respect the rules.

Sorry for butting in but this was really getting on my nerves.
Ok so if we look at 10 pages before the DT note on expell's thread, there are ONLY 3-4 people who have requested expel to give an update more than once, maybe twice and have made comments that are irrelevant to the story. Others have posted multiple comments which have everything to do with the story and not just demanding an update. So I'd really like the DTs to be more specific on what we can write in a comment or not because nowhere it says rhymes/poems are considered spamming.

I'll be honest here. The DT note was rude . Rules will not be bent or changed for anyone. I think this was uncalled for. Why would Juhi expect favouritism ?
We only want reasons /facts for why the thread was closed. That's all.
I can name lots of stories where 20 pages just include comments like waiting or update soon. At least J's thread had comments which were far much more than that.

To those members of IF:
1. please go to a bookstore and buy a book 😃😃😃
2. please stop reading on an online platform if you can't navigate through a thread 😃😃😃
3. please refer to the index on the first page of a story "to find PARTS". 😃😃😃

amen!

I just missed this line . Ok so if we write 100 relevant comments instead of 100 update soon comments they will have no problem in finding the parts?
There a reason why an index is provided on the first page.

Sorry for butting in as well but this seems to be a heated conversation...and I have had experience with a DT note way back in the days for the same thing.

DT notes tend to be like templates, if I'm not mistaken (Hershi??)...so I don't think that they were trying to be rude on purpose...nor were they implying that Juhi is expecting favourtism.

the reason why your thread got the warning and not the lots of other stories because someone reported your thread. DT didn't pick on your guys because they wanted to. but if someone reports a thread then they need to look into it.

But I know what you mean by other stories having a lot of spam comments...I've come across stories that have one chapter per thread and there's conversations going in the threads but nothing can be done about it if no one reports it to the DT. So I just make sure my thread isnt filled with spam...when I reply to comments, I bunch them together instead of replying to one comment per post...that reduces the number of posts and hence pages by a lot. and as far as the 'update soon' notes by readers go, we don't have much control over that...

and if you come across any threads that have a lot of spamming in it, report the thread to the DT so that everyone is given a fair treatment.😊

But this thread had no conversations. That's what we are trying to convey.

It had gutter poems which are related to the story . You can't expect Arnav and Khushi to be celibate . That's besides the point anyways.
