I am not sure whether this is a complaint or a query really, but I am genuinely confused about what course of action we should take here.
This is with reference to the warning on the current thread for Khwahishein which I and Expelliarmus (Juhi) co-write, and the locking of Juhi's current thread for Shaadi.
How exactly, as authors, are we supposed to stop people from spamming on our threads? And how is it fair that we be held responsible for other people's spamming?
We come online to India Forums for just an hour or so every day. Juhi, in particular, had been extremely busy over the past month and hadn't logged on at all for almost ten days in between.
In the meantime, we have stories that are work-in-progress, and despite wanting very much to, we can't post as often as we'd like, or even exactly when we'd said we would in a note.
Our readers get impatient and like to post to remind us that they're waiting. And if we're honest, it is not we who have issues with the 'Please update soon' comments, it is IF. In fact, it spurs us on and tells us that people are still interested and it is motivating. So posting notes reprimanding our readers for so-called spamming feels not just nasty, but also hypocritical. Everyone is aware of the rules, and we see no reason to keep reminding readers of rules that no one is particularly fond of.
So coming to the issue at hand, I am curious as to what the DT thinks we should do about this, and to know how we are responsible in anyway.
I am not going to lie, I am rather annoyed about this, and I should mention that I have nothing personal against any member of the DT-- it's just that I would really appreciate a response on this and fair room for debate.
P.S. Jot, your note on Juhi's thread implies that we/she expect preferential treatment of some kind. I can assure you, we don't. We do, however, expect to be treated fairly.
