~Chapter 23 - Flirting - Consequences of falling in Love~

Arnav woke up feeling amazingly fresh and good. The feeling of falling in love. He found everything around him different. He found himself different. He walked up to the mirror and looked deep into his own reflection. He smiled at his new-found feeling of being in love, that too with his own best friend. It seemed as if the whole atmosphere was filled with sparkles. Everything seemed so beautiful.

He got ready to go to college.. with Khushi.. his Love.

That smile never left his lips. But his thoughts halted, 'I don't know if Khushi has the same feelings that I have for her..' he thought. He has accepted his own feelings, but what would be her response? He feels good about being in love with her, but she still considers him as her best friend only.

'I need to know what she feels about me' he thought, and searched for a shirt in his wardrobe.

'Khushi likes white colour. So I'll wear white today' he said to himself and took out a white shirt.

Getting ready properly, he went downstairs only to find Khushi spreading butter on a piece of bread, looking as cute as ever. He stopped at the last stair itself, admiring her, her hair locks that covered her pretty forehead, that smile, that smile that made her lips more beautiful.. Oh god. How madly he has fallen for her!

Arnav stepped towards her, making her look at him with her glistening eyes.

"Good Morning Arnav!" came a cute chirpy voice from her side.

"Good Morning!" he replied nervously.

"Hey. You look handsome today" she complimented him, winking at him, making his heart go insane.

"Thank you" he smiled at her. "Should I help you?" he asked going near her.

"Help? What's wrong with you Arnav? I was just waiting for you yaar. You only do all this. Its not my cup-of-tea!" she said, handing over the bread-piece to him, getting up from the table.

'How can she talk so casually!' he asked himself, getting a straightaway reply from his heart, 'Remember Arnav. She still considers you as her best friend'

"OK Khushi. You go and change your clothes. I'll prepare the breakfast" he said smiling widely.

Just passing by him, she was stopped by Arnav holding her hand. Khushi looked at his hand - holding hers, and then looked into his eyes, with a look full of confusion.

He bent over her shoulder and whispered huskily in her ear, "Wear something red today."

"Why?"

"Because I like it" he reasoned, smirking at her.

"OK" she said normally, shrugging her shoulders and climbing up the stairs.

"Why don't you wear red frequently? You look so beautiful in red!" he complimented her, making her blush. He kick-started the bike and rode to the college.

"Khusshii" Payal came and hugged Khushi, as soon as Arnav and Khushi reached the college.

"Tujhe kya hua?" (What has happened to you?) Khushi asked her, feeling confused with her behaviour.

"Nothing. What will happen to me? I was just very happy" she replied.

"Really? Chal tell me why are you so happy?" Khushi squealed and dragged Payal along with her to the class, followed by Arnav and Aakash, laughing at both of them.

Payal and Khushi sat with each other on the second last seat, while Arnav and Aakash on the last seat. Arnav wanted to sit with Khushi, but damn this never-ending gossips among girls!

"Payal. Why don't you sit with Aakash? I want to sit with Khushi" Arnav said softly, hoping Payal would agree.

"No way Arnav! Payal. You continue.." Khushi shattered all his hopes.

"But Payal.. See Aakash is longing to sit with you. You both can talk later yaar" Arnav again tried.

"Is today your birthday?" Khushi asked him sarcastically.

"No"

"Then why do you want everything to happen according to your wants?"

"Go to hell. If you want to continue your gossips, you continue!" he declared with mock-anger, and got up to leave.

"Arey Arnav. Wait yaar" Payal stopped him, "Khushi. There's nothing so serious. I'll tell you later. Arnav, you sit here"

Payal stood and seated herself on the back seat, allowing Arnav to sit with Khushi.

"Hi" Arnav came and sat beside Khushi, smirking victoriously at her.

"Why are behaving like a 4th standard kid today?" she said irritated.

"Shh. Sir aa gaye" he shushed her, looking at the teacher, who just entered the class.

The class went on, with Arnav's concentration completely on Khushi.. obviously! He was so love-struck! Admiring her seemed to have became a habit for him now. Khushi noticed Arnav staring at her a few times, but she preferred to ignore him and concentrate on what was going on in the class. What else could she do?

In the break.

Arnav and Aakash carried the food to the table where Payal and Khushi were seated in the canteen. Arnav had particularly selected everything that Khushi liked. Of'course he had become known to each and every liking of hers in these three months. Who knew that his habit of being so friendly would help him now?.. when he's in love with his own best friend!

They seated themselves beside their respective girls, and starting having the food. Arnav pursed his lips together - thinking of a new plan and then looked at Khushi. He took a piece of bread in his hand and extended it towards Khushi's mouth. Khushi looked at him confusedly, and then looked at his hand near her mouth. Arnav signalled her to eat, and Khushi reluctantly opened her mouth to take in the bread. Arnav smiled at her widely, continuing with his flirting comments.

"Wow Khushi. Your lips look much more beautiful with that pink lipstick on" he complimented her shamelessly, making Khushi blush and Payal and Aakash laugh at them.

"Shut Up!" she looked at him reproachfully, "Excuse me" Khushi excused herself and went towards the washroom.

While coming back from the washroom, a guy from their batch, Aditya, came towards Khushi, making her smile at him.

"Hi Khushi" he smiled at her.

"Hi Aditya" she too smiled widely at him.

Arnav too got up and walked towards the corridor, which led to the washroom. He saw Khushi talking to Aditya, and suddenly felt something churn in his heart. His hands automatically fisted.. he was angry? Or jealous? 'Relax Arnav' his heart instructed him. He calmly went towards Khushi, may be thinking of something to take Khushi towards his side.

"You were not in the college yesterday? All okay?" Aditya asked, showing concern for her.

"Yeah. I was not feeling well"

"Oh. Are you okay now?"

Khushi was about to reply, when a familiar arm wrapped around her waist, "Ya Aditya. She's absolutely fine now. Thanks for your concern," Arnav said and smiled, pulling her closer.

Aditya looked at them with confusion filled look, and decided to leave.

Khushi pushed Arnav away from her, "What's wrong with you today?" she asked him, feeling angry at his attitude.

"Calm down Khushi. Go Payal is waiting for you" he changed the topic, pointing towards Payal.

"Ok" Khushi left the topic and walked towards her.

"I don't know what's happening to him. He's behaving like this since last night" Khushi accused Arnav in front of Payal, feeling irritated.

"Relax Khushi. He's just teasing you" Payal tried to brush off her irritation.

"I'm damn sure he's up to something" Khushi said, shaking her head.

Arnav stood at a distance, smirking hearing their conversation. 'No baby. I'm not up to something. I'm just trying to make you fall for me, just like I've fallen for you.. that too Head-Over-Heels!'

I know this chapter was not really needed. But first I thought to end this story in 25 chapters. But then I've decided to extend it for 30 chapters. Anyways. Those who liked this chapter, like and comment. Sorry for being late in updating. But now, as my vacations have started, I might update soon.
