Chapter Two: Are Yaaro Main Chala
"Bhaiya, when the next bus for Madhupur will start?" Rey asked the man who was busy to give the answers at query desk. By hearing Rey's question, he threw a strange look first and then said, "Don't ask for the next bus, sir because the one and only bus for the day has just now left here."
"What?..."
"Yes" the man again went back into his daily routine work, "If you want to catch it, you can give it a try with the cycle rickshaw standing over there" he suggested
"What? Are you mad? I will chase a bus with that rickshaw? Mujhe kya pagal kutte ne kata hai ? Rey became irritated. First he missed the Only bus, now that man was giving him some absurd solution..
"Have you seen Main Hoo Nah? If SRK could, why not you?" he smiled, "Look Sir, if you really want to go Madhupur urgently by today, you don't have any other option. Now, don't waste your time here, go and manage the rickshaw wala."
Rey thought that it was impossible to wait for whole another day, because the time was really short for him. "So why not give it a try? After all who knows if that man has ever seen a small glimpse of Mr Khan within me and suggested that.." he felt proud
"Bhaiya, I am from Mumbai and we need your rickshaw for the shooting. If it really works for today, we will hire your and your rickshaw for the film where Mr Khan will play the lead" Rey told the story, his imagination. And after half and hour of this, Rey finally managed to board on the bus as the speed of the bus was like a cow -cart in the congested road. Whereas, the rickshaw performed really well to bag a role in a film.
Rey sat beside a window seat and prepared himself when he would first see Taani. The cold breeze coming of the window reminded him how he met with her some years before and his started thinking how would he face her, explain her or convince her!!! "She must be now more beautiful, more matured, more sensitive than before and a little shy, homely or I am going to see a girl with no change!!! How will see react when she will see me? Will be angry on me, or surprised or happy...don't know!!" he smiled and started dreaming Taani in a saree with a glass in her hand, "aapke liye Paani layi hoo Rey. Welcome to Madhupur"
"Thank You..."
"Abbe uth..The bus has reached Madhupur" the ugly looking ticket checked was shaken him thoroughly to bring him back into the world of reality."If this bus leaves now, you won't get any rickshaw to come back here, samjhe? Nalayak kahika!!!" he felt angry
When Ret got down from the bus, the clock stroke at twelve at noon and the mid-day sun informed us that summer had already arrived. All the shops were closed and all the doors and windows of the village huts were closed from the outside heat. Rey felt to have some water, but after searching one hour he could located a tube well near a ground where some local village boys were playing cricket. Firstly, Rey drank some cold water, then he started playing the game and lost in the play. His first six crossed the ground and entered a nearby house through its open window.
Everyone stood silently circled Rey, they were frightened enough as they knew that the person had already threatened them before.
"Now whose ball is this?" a girl came out of the house with the ball in hand, "now this time, I am not going to give you back!!!"
"I swear mam, I have not done it intentionally" Rey told with the half opened eyes
Taani took few moments to recognize, but her sharp memory could help her to remember everything clearly, "Rey, tum..yaha!!!"
Seeing Taani standing in front of eyes, Rey forgot all of his rehearsal of becoming surprise and happy or happily surprised!!! He remained speechless for some times, "True, she has become more elegant, more glamorous. No, her attire is same like before, a blue three quarter denim with a white kurta made her so attractive, the lashes are not open now." he thought
"when did you come? and how?"
"haa main yaha..Taani!! And Oh My God, Tum Bhi Yaha. What a nice co incidence." He smiled and came to hug her. It would be awkward if he didn't feel surprise. Taani should not know his actual intention of coming here.
Taani took him in the house and offered a glass of water, not like in that dream sequence of Rey, but in her own way."Have some water, this place is so hot!!!" She paused for a moment, "wo sab toh thik hai. but why you have come Here only? Iss baar koi dusra irada to nahi warna..." she threatened and took the apple in her hand for throwing
"Wait..wait..Noh noh..tumhari k.." Rey started fumbling, "nahi, iss pot ki kasam" he indicated the water pot standing on the rack in the kitchen."I have come here because...umm..because I love to see villages. mujhe gano pasand hai, guhmne ke liye aaya hoo. And you know before how much I love villages and people." he completed with smiling face to make up his lies and the pot was broken by the ball coming from the window. Taani again went out angrily to scold the boys and ate a gulp that he didn't take the false swear of Taani.
